  1. I wouldn't buy it with all of that Motion Offroad stuff on it.... :rotf:
  2. All of that mod to graft the two jeeps...and left the D35 in it. :hmm:
  3. When you go looking for another vendor be creative with your search and you might find the items they are selling you far cheaper from their source. When I was looking at lift options a couple of years ago the bolt on SOA that they were claiming as "their" expertise and design was a direct purchase from Rocky Road that they marked up 40% and called their own, for example. They just did the ol' copy-paste from the original vendor's ads in many cases, just changing it to claim the product was their own. The mentions on the other forums back this up and make for interesting reading if you search them up. I wonder if this could be the straw that broke the camel's back and gets Motion Offroad the Ballistic Fabrication treatment here?
  4. My 2012 Chevy Sonic ( American Made!) is getting 36.9 mpg in mixed driving and over 41 on the highway. It has a turbo 1.4L and scoots for an economy car that I paid less that $16K for. Plenty roomy. Runs on regular gas. Might save a jeep or two with this option and avoid the VW bugaboos
  5. Short sleeve T if available in double fat. Hey, you saw me.... :D
  6. Used this today... Thanks Akula69! :wrench:
  7. Not so sure that those are the right axles for 38's...
  8. In 9/10 cases of MJ/XJ death wobble i have been around the trac bar was the culprit. Check that the mount on the body end isn't wobbled out
  9. The 3.7L makes more horsepower (and more torque for many years and ties the rest) than the 4.0HO with a similar power band. The Liberty is head and shoulders above the XJ in safety and that comes at a price...the KJ is about 800 #'s heaver than the rather flimsy XJ and that '09 KK is heavier still. A 3.7 in an XJ/MJ would be an improvement over the 4.0 I6... T You can't beat the physics of that mostly gubmint mandated weight gain. All cars have grown in weight and usually size due to stricter government requirements. I'd be willing to bet that using the standard of the average car built today vs the XJ if it were sold today the XJ would have a regular segment on 60 Minutes about what a death trap it is. It is not an indictment of the XJ it is just the nature of the beast. BTW: When the XJ was introduced it was universally hated by "jeep people" and criticized as being a slightly taller Volvo 240 wagon.... To have killed off the FSJ Chero for that uni-body runt that didn't have enough power to spin its tiny whitewall tires.... My how times change :D
  10. it has been said many times by many people: At the end of our lives we look back and regret the things we didn't do far more than the things we did.
  11. http://muddybuddys.net/Mud_Hole/viewtop ... =14&t=4051 Just sayin'
  12. Cool. Love to see vids like that
  13. Somebody sold you some bad dope. Are YOU not aware that when the Liberty was in final testing, Jeep did as they had always done and drove one over the Rubicon Trail? And that it was so BAD that to get it through they had to manually pile stones at many of the obstacles to make approach ramps, and they still had to push or pull it over some obstacles? Yeah, it's just a wonderful off-road vehicle. Not. You can't go by articles from other countries -- they don't generally have a clue as to what 4-wheeling is about. Heck, in my wife's native country they call anything with 4WD a "Jeep." On the trip when I first met her, I went in order to go wheeling with an off-road club there, one of whose members had invited me. So we're out in the middle of an ocean of sand dunes, standing next to his 2000 Cherokee Classic, and we hear an engine over one of the dunes. "Here comes Ivan and my old Jeep," says my host. Cool, I think, I get to see what he used to drive. And what he used to drive turned out to be a Daihatsu Rocky. To them it was a 'Jeep" -- hey, it has four-wheel drive ... Dude...speaking of putting down the bong.... The links cited were to point out that the US Liberty is the Cherokee every where else in the world. Reading that those are the official JEEP CHROKEES in those countries doesn't seem too difficult? READ THE FACTORY NAMEPLATES ON THOSE JEEPS! Or do your own research... And speaking of not knowing anything but what you read: Please list your personal off -road Liberty experience with proof such as pictures and stuff. I won't hold my breath while waiting for the response with proof... And while there: you qouted my part about the Liberty's segment competition so please show how any of the vehicles I cited outperfroms the Liberty off-road. Again, I won't hold my breath while waiting for the response with proof... I can personally attest that a 2005 KJ with the 3.7L V6, NSG370 6-spd, 241 transfer case (never seen in an XJ or MJ from the factory), 3.55 gears with 2.5" of lift and 31" tires WILL outperform a 1988 SWB MK with a 4.0, aw4, 231, 3.55 gears, 4" of lift and 32" tires over the exact same trails at the same off-road park. Been there/done that as the owner & driver of both. This KJ: soundly trounced this MJ in every category except cargo cpacity both on-road and off-road. I think that is personal knowledge & experience regarding these vehicles that few here can match ... thus they rely on prejudice and intardnet "truth". I would bet that you have no such experience.
  14. Though rare they are out their. I regularly wheel with a group of lifted KJ's with rear lockers. They will go anywhere a similarly-modded Xj will go.
  15. What is any surviving version of a long-running vehicle if not a namesake for another platform? Isn't the YJ the direct descendant of the CJ and therefore the TJ is also the direct descendant as well? Is today's 'vette not a 'vette because it isn't built on the same platform as the 1954 version was? They did update the Cherokee: it is sold as the Liberty in N. America but still called the Cherokee everywhere else that the patriotic fervor wouldn't go over. Did ya catch the now-abandoned reasoning at jeep that named the two models released for a period the LIBERTY and PATRIOT? You can order Cherokee badges for a KJ/KK from Mopar as they are factory pieces. So the modern Cherokee is alive and well with a better engine and "more standard comforts that are found in today's top brand cars" and are more suited to the wants of the new car buyer not some cheap-assed second, third, or fourth owner that cuts them up and wheels them as those people - ahem you and me- do not make the manufacturer a dime. "Just tweak it and make it better than the other guys did.." Are you serious? At its 2002 introduction the Liberty's segment competition included the CR-V, RAV4, Vue, Escape, Freelander, Imprezza wagon/Forester, and the like. If you don't realize that the Liberty was head and shoulders better off road than ANY of its direct competition when it was introduced despite it being a much safer and more modern design.... Scroll down to the second vehicle in the Jeep line-up: http://syiir.com/category/jeep/ Are how about this little gem? http://www.babez.de/jeep/jeep-cherokee-renegade.php It is so much easier to curse the darkness than to light a candle I guess.
  16. Do you know Aaron and Jayme?
  17. Post subject: What are you shooting?
  18. saints fan? :D EDIT: oops.... answered my own question: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21375&p=220863&hilit=+saints#p220863 That explains that
  19. Petersen's 4 wheel-drive and Off-Road mag is but one source reporting that price range depending on options, etc... Maybe they tell some people stuff they don't tell to just anyone. http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/department ... index.html Jeep Dealers Get Brute American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) will offer the Brute, a double-cab pickup conversion based on the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, to Jeep dealers as a turnkey, ready-to-sell vehicle. The Brute was on display at the recent National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Las Vegas. No price was announced, but according to Automotive News you can expect the sticker to be in the $65,000-$95,000 range, depending on options. My title clearly states "up to $95K" & I use the 65K figure in a post. Considering the prices of their packages, previous turnkey vehicles, or even the average selling price of the Jk Unlimited Rubi that forms the base I seriously doubt you will see anything near the bottom of the price range, either. Why do you think they are so cryptic about their pricing, even when unloading their used demo's?
  20. At a more reasonable price the Crew Cab Brute could be decent. It is not the execution or the vehicle I am knocking. But even if the silver version is the body mounted on a Ram Chassis it would probably be at least $65K after buying the Ram and converting it.
  21. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/11/se ... e-cab.html Ummm... not for that kind of money. 2012 Ram Power Wagon This factory built/warrantied far superior truck chassised Dodge Power Wagon is $46k....You could buy two Power Wagons or a Power Wagon and a 40 mpg Dart and a stripper JK two door for what they will ask for that Brute crew cab. For $46 K you get standard on a Power Wagon: CrewCab 4x4 w/ 6.4-Foot Box 17-Inch Aluminum Wheels Electric Winch Tru-Lok® Front and Rear Axles+ 4.56 Rear Axle Ratio Front Disconnecting Stabilizer Bar Fuel Tank Skid Plate Shield Power Wagon® Off-Road Group+ Stripe and Badge Molding Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield Media Center w/ AM/FM Radio, CD Player and WMA/MP3 Jack Six Speakers A/C Vinyl 40/20/40 Split Bench Front Seat Speed Control Cloth-Trimmed Seats Overhead Console Power Door Locks 180-Amp Alternator Cruise Control Remote Keyless Entry SiriusXM Satellite Radio+ Class IV Trailer Tow Hitch Receiver w/10,800# trailer capacity w/ 4- and 7-pin Wire Harness Trailer Brake Control Re-badge a version of that as a Jeep and have the most capable on AND off-road Jeep truck ever. Even with the Pentastar engine the JK Unlimited is held to a 3,500 pound trailer limit due to chassis and suspensions issues.... __________________ Read more: http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f92/july- ... z1uZyDkjQZ
  22. There is a difference between being a hard-nosed player and being a POS cheap shot artist for bonus money. Anyone who paid attention knew New Orleans was a bunch of thugs who needed parole officers more than coaches. If you don't think that you can't be a great player without resorting to that kind of crap, or that you enjoy and support such lack of sportsmanship, than you are part of the problem. It is part of our ever more liberal-slanting culture & media to make degenerate behavior, drug abuse ( Dr. House is a glaring example), criminal acts, lack of honor, etc...ever more acceptable and basic good old fashioned decent behavior devolve. And most of the reality programs do aid in that trend. I am amazed at the people who lack the will power to just change the channel.... or who claim to support such basic traits as being a good and honorable person & then make a lie of those beliefs by condoning being a POS.
  23. What is the rules on a salvage title in NC? Will your insurance company give you grief over it ( i have heard of this but not dealt with it)? WHY is it a salvage title? Was it an abandoned vehicle? A title lien repo? No mention of engine size...2.5? I agree about the $500-ish range. Too many issues.

  25. 3.8 is like the 4.3 in that it is a 90 deg V6 not a 60 deg V6. That is about the only similarity between the Buick V8-derived 3.8 and the SBC derived 4.3. I think the 60 degree V6's were the 2.8/3.1/3.4/3.5
