No that would have made it cool. Also this was before the diesel was available.

I don't know my high school girlfriend drove a Chevy Chevette 4dr. Didn't stop me.
-
Yeah, i am not recommending a supercharged version for a new driver, and i do agree almost any new car these days has more HP than most made in the 90's / 2000,s. A Camry is also a great choice although a friend of mine has an 04 Camry 4cyl auto that I have worked on and I am pretty sure it will outrun my 3800 LeSabre.
-
Cool, hopefully this will work out would be fun to see you Eagle wgn. If I do have the Comanche driving I should be a sight showing up driving the Comanche and pulling the Spirit on my tow dolly. Would be a total throw back just like in the 80's one Kenosha Cadillac towing another.
-
Well that is for sure true the early 2.8L V6 was a pile that is for sure. Had never really given that a thought, that probably would make a nice up grade! Supercharged Comanche that would be something to talk about!
-
True, or maybe we would all be talking about the the very reliable fuel efficient V6 engines in our Jeeps?
-
Yes, these are great cars have had some people over the years share stories of series ll engines with over 300K and no major repairs or for some no repairs at all. The cars them selves are nothing spectacular, but good solid and safe standard American sedans. Just bought an 04 LeSabre myself love it decent mpg's been getting mid to upper 20's. Not bad for a low tech cast iron engine.

I did that to mine carpet came out of a 4 door Cherokee, I did have to do some trimming but it turned out good.
-
Yes, agreed but its like Christmas when I clean up and find stuff I forgot I had.
-
Well this should be fun, not sure if I can have the Comanche ready by then, but if can get the time off I will drive my 81 Spirit GT. Thanks for sharing probably would not have known otherwise!

Well done!! I was never a scout myself but had friends that were, Big accomplishment!! Congrats!!

Wow a real dual wheel one. I like it!

67% Started off good and just kept getting worse! Guessed on the Fords, hood ornaments, didn't know the Desoto's or Edsel's

Southern Wisconsin, we got about 2" yesterday on top of the 18" or so we had on the ground. Now it's just cold and windy so drifting every where, gotta plow the driveway every 6 hours. Fun!

gotta say... this method of cargo transport hadn't occurred to me...

120mph speedometer
Original 87 replied to ghetdjc320's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Well all I can add to this is my own stupidity, back about 30 + years ago when my truck had less than 5000 miles on it I did manage to run the 85 mph speedometer all the way around to the zero stop. Before anybody says anything about bragging looking back now probably one of the top 10 dumbest things I have ever done. -
Well it wasn't a movie but I remember watching a TNN show called TRUCKING U.S.A. Staring Ed Bruce where he drove one for the first season, I think it was in 89. Was the first show I remember seeing staring a Comanche just a few short years after buying mine. I was young and thought it was cool!!

Nice progress!! Can't wait to see more, good work on the brake lines, I bet you could have gotten a couple of more miles out of those shoes. Wow those were BAD!
-
The car wash killed my steering, why?
Original 87 replied to Badbobaz's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well that stinks!! I also think drag link or possible tie rod. I had mine bend from hitting a curb after being forced of the road to avoid a crash when it was almost new. As an original owner myself I was wondering if you would post a picture of your well cared for truck? -
Wow not bad at all for the price. Looks mostly intact and not to rusty how are the cab floors? Nice find!! Any plans for it?
-
Well I don't have a picture but I have a full console out of an XJ and the control is below the storage lid to the left of the parking brake handle. If you still want a picture i can get you one a little later today. Hope this was helpful.

The "Grandpa Jeep" as some friends say...
Original 87 replied to rtferguson_39's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Ok now I can see the overspray. But who cares still a very nice truck, just as clean under the hood. If owners had them painted once most would be in better shape now mine included. Wish I would have painted it 15 years ago. -

That's nice I did a brush on bed liner on mine back when it was new and then added a rubber bed mat, it has held up surprisingly well. That is a beautiful truck enjoy. -

Wow would never have guessed it had that many miles on it. Very clean. Nice survivor. That patina makes it a classic. People pay extra for that!
