  1. Sounds like it has a pretty strong turn-over. Been waiting to see this thing get running for a while now. :clapping: Hopefully everything goes well! Also, not to :hijack: but how much did that battery brace run you? I've been trying to find one in the JY in good shape, but I should have been hanging around my local Tractor Supply more often it would seem.... Also, do the long bolts come with it, or do you have to buy 'em seperate?
  2. Very cool! I love German Shepards.
  3. Would have uploaded these sooner, but I got food poisoning / a 24 flu bug that's been going around on Sunday night. And I've only been feeling better since yesterday. Coincidentally, the day I started working. :shake: Well, anyway, here they are. Got the wiper cowl painted, along with throwing some glossy black on the mesh screening underneath. Looks pretty good, IMO. Washing the truck, the day of; with help from my dad. First time it got washed since the paintjob. Definitely not a showroom quality shine, but it's a lot better than what it was. I'm happy with how it looks when washed. The day of the show. Friend's overbearing R/T wanting more camera time. :thwak: Hmm... those cards fit quite nicely under the wipers... almost like they were meant to be there. Shining the tires, along with cleaning the interior. No pics of the sparkly interior though. I'd like to see anyone's cleaner spare tire. That thing almost blinded me twice. And that's how it was for a few hours. I talked to some older people about the Jeep, and there were a lot of people going by and doing double takes. I guess everyone thought it was "Just some Cherokee" until they saw the bed. Had a few people ask if I'd think about selling it too. :brows: Had to pass though. Too many memories wrapped up in this thing for me to get rid of it. After a good while of that with some friends (just water and soda. Still too young :fs1: ) I went for a stroll. My GF told me I should walk around the block, and that there was something nice on the other side of the show area. Surprise surprise; I wasn't the only Jeep truck in attendance. An older fellow brought it out. Said it had been in his family since '47, and that it was a family project. Of course, he noticed I was eyeing it rather enviously, and I told him about my MJ. He said he used to have one of those, and ran the wheels off of it. He was pretty bummed that there isn't a Jeep Pickup anymore, but at least we both still had one to show. To my surprise, he had mounted an XJ steering column with matching Jeep horn button. Made it look real nice. :chillin:
  4. Shameless self bump. :(
  5. Now, I'm not trying to be mean spirited, or get you down or anything, but I seriously think you're asking for trouble man. That $4800 you spend on this hacked up, although nice looking for what it is XJ, could buy you at least 2 XJ's, and you'd still have probably $2500 to spend on the MJ. Like Ismurphy said. Don't waste your money on "cool looking crap" just because it has big tires, a lift, and some off road lights. You'd be wasting the money you could be putting towards the MJ in gas just to get to work and back!
  6. ;) Lookin' good man. Glad to see you're enjoying ol' Oscar.
  7. Can't say that I'm going to be available on the weekend anytime soon. :dunno: Durn scheduling at the new job and whatnot. If the Central FL jeepers get together though, I'll have wished I was there! Isn't there some sort of Jeep event coming up in June/July; with it being "summer" and all? I was thinking about doing another "Jeep Beach" esque thing in mid to late June, even though there was just one earlier this month. I think it'd be a pretty good hookup spot with a lot around to go to and see, and, you know, DURING the middle of the hot summer. 8) Anybody else with me? Beach preferences? I'm game for Daytona or New Symerna. Never been to any others, sadly. :( And I've lived in FL all my life.... :fs1: :shake:
  8.  Lucky. I can only dream of such things... :fs1: How much did that set you back?
  9. Nice looking rig
  10. Should be a good showing at the car show later today. Will be taking pictures and handing out cards. Anyone else thinking about coming out?
  11. Lol, my GF would try and kick my @$$ if I did that. I'm working the overnight shift, so there probably isn't going to be much of anything to look at. Besides, I have my 3 year anniversary coming up in a few months. ;)
  12. Just saw you go past Waterman hospital in Tavares. If my horn worked, I would have honked. Truck looks pretty good!
  13. Yeah Jimbo, I think my fuel sending unit is kapoot. I haven't crawled under to investigate yet. The gauge DOES work, so its a good thing I got it.
  14. Finally wrangled a new job. I have the glorious honor :shake: of working at Walmart now. Better than nothing, and at least I'll have some sort of $ inflow coming in. Any amount of money coming in is better than no money coming in. Eventually I'll have enough to go back to school, or at least get another MJ. :brows: Oh, and I had a working gas gauge for all of 15 minutes this morning. :fs1: Now I just have to finish painting the wiper cowl, I'll be ready to clean this darn truck and then tear into it some more.
  15. I wouldn't mind seeing this. Sounds a lot better than what some of us use
  16. That thing is epic. 'Nuff said.
  17. I say the resistor is only part of the problem because as I found out, and like you said, my fan only worked on high speeds for its final leg before it totally gave out. More than likely, I will end up replacing both the fan and the resistor, as I'm 95% sure they're the 25 year old originals. :fs2:
  18. Thanks Pete. I'll take a look at it later when it gets cooler. I have a feeling that might be part of my blower problem. :fs1:
  19. For the longest time now, my non-AC control panel hasn't worked in the least. Took apart the radio when I was installing it a few months ago and checked all the connections. Everything is hooked up, and I didn't see anything amiss. The sucker won't even turn on. It still lights up when the lights are on, but I can't get it to do anything. Could this be a bad blower, or the unit itself? Or maybe something else entirely? I'm just about out of ideas. I'd like to be able to drive in the rain with SOME kind of air blowing around inside the cab... instead of having to drive in the pouring rain with the window open. :hmm: :wall:

    names

Some of the names I've given to my truck. Piece of $#!& a$$hole Junk Heap ....... You get the idea. But that's only when I get mad at it. I've taken a shine to calling it The Honcho, as of late. And yes, I think it's fine if names change. Sometimes, something you thought was fitting at one time isn't as time goes by.
  21. Interesting, and kudos to you Rob for doing the footwork for everyone to see these pictures. I guess seeing is believing, but IMO, that is one ugly @#$%ing truck. No offense to anyone that likes it; just stating my opinion. Also, Dana 35? ...Really? I'd give it more credit if it had a 44 under there.
  22. The different years of production model XJs had the switch set up for different pins. Some years it was pin #10, while others was pin #12. I highly recommend people who want to look more into this read up on these two links, especially the second. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/extended-idle-switch-how-simple-easy-like-factory-610688/ Page 2- 2nd to last post has specific information for older models, but am currently unsure if you can do this to a Renix engine. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=79549&highlight=Extended+Idle
  23. I would also be very interested in pictures of this
