 Love the choice of music. Just out of curiosity, what type of engine was that?

Comanche fluids and oils
Zenobian_84 replied to codymanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Usually I just run my local auto parts store brand of oils / fluids. (Advance Auto) I've used name brand stuff before; and I can tell you from experience, most of it functions the exact same as the parts store brand (no noticeable difference in how the truck runs) There are few exceptions to this though. Usually, as far as motor oils go, I always run the thicker stuff. It's not needed in the south as much as up north, but it doesn't leak out as fast as the thinner oils whenever I used to have oil leaks. Motor Oil - 10w/40 Regular (usually synthetic whenever I do a complete oil change; regular when I might have to add oil occasionally) Rear Dif - 75w/90 Synthetic (Dana 35) Tranny - 80w-90 Radiator - Prestone 50/50 No 4x4 sadly, so I don't have any recommendations on Transfercase oils. Whenever I upgrade the rear-end though, I'll probably run the Royal Purple on it to see if there's a difference. Didn't want to waste the $ on it when I flushed the diff on my 35 a few months ago. I've heard good things from a lot of people about it, so it probably wouldn't hurt to at least try it once. -

Project "Honcho" - The '87 MJ
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Thinking about doing something like this; to replace the Laredo badges. Would definitely make my truck "one of a kind" :D Thinking about possibly doing the design in: Black with silver outline Silver with black outline All black Hmm... Did it in 5 minutes, so that's why it looks like crap.Would have been nice to have the same color blue that's on my truck when I did this. -
Very cool. Reminds me of the old DeLoreans. :wrench:

Alright. If you can't find any within that timeframe, I'm only a few hours drive from either location. If you still want them that is. Will let you know if I find what I'm looking for.

Project "Honcho" - The '87 MJ
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Yeah, been thinking about that for a few days now. I think I might do away with the Laredo badges and figure out something else to replace them with. Shame I don't have a true Laredo like you do. That thing s hella sweet   -

Would have posted this yesterday, but Photobucket was down for maintenance. The always elusive, MJ Metric Ton badge.

Looking to add 2 more speakers in the back. Nothing special or over the top. It's just the 2 up front could use some help every now and then. Shipping is to 32778. Not looking to spend a fortune, just within reason. Shoot me a pic of what you have and a price. Thanks.

Comanche with Rhino Grille / hood......
Zenobian_84 replied to BryGuy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don't qoute me on this, but I believe that an FSJ (comparing a J-Truck to a Comanche) is about 4-5 inches wider than an MJ/XJ. My suggestion would be to measure your front clip (side to side) and add about 5 inches. If you want to incorporate the Rhino grille on an MJ, you have to swap over the front clip from an FSJ. I'd suggest scouring over on IFSJA.org. Those guys over there could probably give you more insight than us MJ guys over here could. -
:fs1: My luck. :shake:

Steelie Rims or Jeep 10 Spokes - Central FL Area
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in Wanted
Bump? :dunno: Would prefer not to go bargain bin hunting at the P&P; if you know what I mean. :ack: -
Last bump. Looks like it's the junkyard for me then.. :shake: :wrench:

Might you be interested in a set like these? Not exactly the "traditional" Turbine rims, but they've looked good since I put them on. Came off another MJ at the P&P (originally from an 80s Grand Marquis) Aluminum with no blemishes / cracks or dents. The Truck in question. Looking to get myself some steelies down the road. If I can find some soon, I wouldn't mind letting these go. Only if I can get myself the steelies I'm looking for though... :fs1: Don't know if you need these ASAP though.

Hey, you guys can have this tropical storm down here. Seriously, I insist. I'd send it to 'ya if I could get a big enough crate to put it in. :dunno: :fs1:

Serious Idling Issue - (Resolved)
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Turns out the IAC was the culprit after all. Installed the new one, and hooked everything back up. Started the truck up, and had to give it a little gas to keep it going at first (combo of new ICA and 2 weeks of sitting) and then drove it around for 10 miles. Babied it for the first 5, then romped on it for the last 5. Got back and parked it at the house, and noted the 900-950 RPM. Shut her down and waited 5 minutes and started her up. Revved high for a second but immediately calmed down to 900. Repeated and the same result happened again. Am very pleased, and wanted once again to thank everyone that commented on this thread with suggestions.  You don't know how good it feels to be able to drive a Jeep again. Almost stalled out at a red light though  ;) ----- On an off note, my gas gauge works now. When I started up for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd startups, it didn't peg out like it normally does. In fact, it went right to the 1/4 tank mark and hovered around there. Fluctuated when I took off and when I braked like it should. Does the ICA have anything to do with the Gauge itself? Seems kind of wierd, but if it's going to work now, I won't be complaining. -

Woke up this afternoon to find this at my door. :hmm: Couldn't have come at a better time. Now if only the tropical storm would co-operate with me for 20 minutes.... :wall: -
I made one a year ago for my 92, but I made it read 92 Comanche with the 99 XJ diagram (retrofitted for the MJ fuel tank). Red Rocker, what program are you using to build the decal? I used Illustrator and thought it worked pretty slick. Currently using GIMP / Editor by Pixlr. GIMP for the writing and Pixlr for all the linework / vacuum diagrams. All and all, a complete decal usually takes me around 2 hours to make. Also, as far as the Resistant Gloss coating, you're on your own sadly. I just whip up the diagrams, I don't actually print them out and everything.

Door VIN Prototype - Opinions? Suggestions?
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Slapped up the scan-able barcode version to replace the original. Hopefully it should work. With that being said, these sticker setups should be the final types to replace the damaged ones.  -
Door VIN Prototype - Opinions? Suggestions?
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My only question is; would that be able to be read by Jeep Techs? :dunno: I'll swap the VINs to below the Barcode if that's the case. -
Got a picture of the boot? I might be able to set you up with one if you can't find it anywhere else. I'm pretty sure it came out of a 5 speed '88. Too early in the morning to be remembering these things  As far as aftermarket goes, try local auto parts dealers around your area. Not too sure who's around you, but there's always RockAuto that I know of.

Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sadly, the barcode is just an added touch. :( If I could figure out how to make it read for each individual truck, I'd make it so. Too bad I don't know exactly how to do that... :hmm:
