I'd say yes, go for it. My first vehicle I had at 17 was a '97 Pontiac Sunfire. I liked that car a lot, and I miss it every now and then; but I won't ever regret selling it. Even though my MJ was in pretty terrible shape last May when I first brought it home, I don't regret not one penny I've sunk into it (getting near the 2k mark I think? :clapping: ) If you want a real "American Legend" get a Jeep. If you don't want to deal with all the nit-picky upkeep these trucks tend to throw out to everyone here on this forum, then go for something easier. Whatever decision you make, always feel good about it. Don't ever look back with regrets.

Transfer Case - 2.5 Options
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Pete. You saved me a lot of headaches and worrying down the line.  -
Might go that route actually. Now that I have a decent job, its just a matter of waiting until the money is there.

Crappy Little Buzzer

 Whoops. Breezed right over that last line of your previous post. My mistake. -
Looking into getting a 242 transfer case to store until I get around to adding 4x4 to my truck. Currently have a 2.5 / AX4 / D35 combo, and was looking to find out what tranny is easiest to swap to when adding a T-Case. This is of course if I cannot locate another 2.5 AX4 / 4x4 combo to get parts from. I'm going to upgrade the rear end as well. Most likely with a Chryco 8.25 since I doubt I'll be able to score a D44 for a decent price. With this being said, is it possible that I can still achieve my goal of having 4.10s for a gear ratio? Also, what Spline count should I be looking for here? I've heard later 8.25s were stronger, but really know nothing about the 8.25. Time to do some researching I guess. :typing:

Looking to start collecting / storing the parts for my eventual 4x4 addition. Decided to skip out on Craigslist in the hopes that someone here might have what I need. Name a price, and send me a few pics. I'd much rather give someone on here some $ than some goof on Craigslist. :D  ----------------- Transfer Case I'm looking for. New Process 242 (NP242) Years: 1987-1990 Spline Count: 21 Has got to be a 21 spliner, due to my limited tranny possibilites. (21 Spline AX-4 / AX-5)

Steelie Rims or Jeep 10 Spokes - Central FL Area

Sad, shameless self bump. :wrench: :( -
It hit over in Central FL, but its been nowhere near as bad as up in AL  The only thing that happened was I about careened off the side of the bridge connecting Howey to Tavares last night because the rain was so thick. If that happened, I would have probably taken Sinkrun's advice.

Unfortunately, if you can't find a Comanche to pull a sending unit from, then you'll probably be out of luck. Cherokee FSU's don't play nice with our trucks (Read: Don't fit at all without custom modding of the unit itself). If you DO find another Comanche though, I believe you can use the FSU from either a 4.0 or a 2.5; but there might be some issue with it being a different Also, see if you can determine what size tank you pull it from. I'd also give these threads a look over as well. Some helpful info inside. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34742&p=341928&hilit=fuel+sending+unit#p341928 http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34150&p=336601&hilit=fuel+sending+unit#p336601

Crappy Little Buzzer
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ouch. I would have figured it would have been engineered a little.... better? No big surprise there though. Sometimes I wonder how AMC even got away with some of the factory setups I've seen on this truck. -
Crappy Little Buzzer
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just wanted to know if this was normal. Got a buzzer from Alexia and it works. Problem is, it won't warn me that my keys are still in the ignition unless I push the keys in and make the switch contact the the column. Isn't it supposed to just keep buzzing like crazy if the keys are just sitting in the ignition switch? Even with the door open, it still won't kick on and warn me that I forgot them. -
Lucky! :fs1: If only deals like this would happen to ME. :brows: Congrats on the score though.

Bump? -
I'm currently running what I hope and assume is a 74 amp alternator. I've read a few threads on here about people upgrading to a higher output alternator, but am unsure if there's any substantial upgrades for a Renix 2.5; specifically, any simple "take the old one off and put the new one on" processes. Everything runs smooth as silk right now, but I'd like to see if there's anything bigger I can go to, in case I decide to throw on some serious lights or more electrical doohickies down the line. Any and all help is appreciated. :wrench:

Bad Blower...? Bad Resistor?
Zenobian_84 replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For anyone wondering, and for people who find this thread and need assistance; I replaced the resistor today with no improvements whatsoever. Next on the list is to replace the blower motor and check the vacuum lines again. If that doesn't yield anything, it's off to the junkyard for another Non-AC Control panel. Will post results as progress is made. :smart: -
It were an MJ on here with the 4.0; it'd still spank Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. Definitely going to be making this into a poster soon, as I adore FSJs, and browse IFSJA almost daily.. They're my only real weaknesses besides MJ's and my GF. :D Also, 16 EPA / 21 HWY? My @$$. I'd like to see a finely tuned 360 with a 2 barrel get 14/16. Maybe the right spec'd 258 could get those numbers, but still very unlikely. Gotta love those old motors though. :D :brows:

Am looking to get myself either of these types of rims (see pictures) for down the road when I have to get new tires. Am currently running 80s Ford Grand Marquis rims and although I like the look and feel of them, I think it's time for the Fords to retire. *Pic courtesy of CamJeep3* *Pic courtesy of 87warrior* If anyone has a set in decent shape (nothing that would keep me from using them safely) WITH matching center caps, shoot me a line with some pictures and a price. Maybe I can free up some space in the garage for someone ;) :brows: Would also consider driving a few hundred miles for the right price and look, if it comes down to it.

Nice looking rig to start with. It's always nice seeing more FL MJ owners on here. If you need any random interior pieces or emblems, I might have what you need. So shoot me a message if you ever feel like it.

comfortable seats in MJ?
Zenobian_84 replied to jamespwsullivan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Can't say I have too much experience in this subject. Had a buddy with a 92 Laredo Cherokee, and his seats were ok as far as comfiness went. But, they were 20 years old after all. If you're looking for some quality support, it won't be from any used 84-96 Cherokee seats, I can tell you that. '97 and up may be a different story though. If you're gung-ho about using XJ buckets, find some from an upscale model (Laredo, Pioneer etc) that match what interior you have and just shell out the cash to have them professionally re-upholstered. I've heard others have done that with nice results. -

 So I've gathered that most people hate this little thing. I'll probably try it out for a while before I seriously commit to it then. -

Haven't had too much progress. Still, nonetheless, here is some. Got my ashtray problem figured out. There's a small brown tab on the back that apparently I broke off a year ago (no idea where it went though) that holds it in place on the dash. Replaced it with one I found in the junkyard, and BAM. Matching ashtray access! Next thing was tackling the lighting. I haven't replaced the kicklights yet, but I'll have those back in soon... perhaps. These 2 domes are giving off plenty of light for me to see. Haven't decided yet what I'll do. :dunno: Finished painting my truck; FINALLY. Wiper cowl. Hope I never have to take this apart again. TJ the Triceratops keeping an ever vigilante eye out for wrongdoings going on. Washing the old girl before her big day out. Felt good man. :chillin: Not to double post, but here's 2 shots from the car show. There's a thread floating around with some other pictures, but these are the only 2 I like. -
Diesel Fuel Only - Factory Diesel Comanche
Zenobian_84 replied to Automan2164's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I don't know what it is honestly, but this truck just has this indescribable IT factor to it. Like, this is what a Jeep is all about. Something unique that you can't explain. IMO, what you've done to it has gone above and beyond the call of what ordinary people would do to something so foreign and touchy to work on. You have seriously earned my respect Rob, and that's something I don't tell a lot of folks very often. I'll be watching more of this thread with high hopes.  -
Anybody got a picture of what that $#!&ty little annoying buzzer looks like; and where it's located? Call me crazy, but I wish mine had one, or, I wish the PO didn't rip it out of the truck. Anybody got a lead on where a fellow can get one of these things and install? Easy or hard install? Help is appreciated. Kind of going for that definitive retro styling here. :shake: For whatever reason, if you have NO IDEA what this buzzer sounds like (seriously, who doesn't?) here it is. aAa2xVQQ5es
