All taped up and ready to sand and paint tomorrow.

In stead of using primer, I just sanded each rust spot down down to the metal, and made sure each spot was smooth. The hood only had scratches, but a couple were deep. The tailgate had more, but each sanded down smooth. I used blue painters tape and taped off the J E E P on the tail gate the best I could. I followed the metal insted of the stickers. When the tailgate is done, I will tape off around the letters, the 4.0 badge and the tailgate handle and paint them black. Tight now there is 2 coats on the hood, and one on one side of the tailgate. What I am using:

Got the hood sanded up, and took off the ladder rack. There was only a minor amount of rust around the bolt holes (4 of them), and after sanding the rails down, it should be gone. Question:Should I hit up the rust spots with some primer before I paint?

Welp, I have an 88 MJ that I picked up for $700. Got it mainly to run scrap metal, until I got enough money to start mods. That time has come. First thing first, though. Paint. Today I started sanding the hood of the Comanche. I didn't use anything special, just a drywall sanding block. It took off the clear coat, and started in on the paint. I am not going to take it down to the bare metal though, just evening it all out. I am going to head to the store today to grab some paint and other supplies, then I am going to tape off the hood and do that 1st. I will see how it looks, whether I need to try a different color or not, and then proceed. There will be pics soon. I have an air powered sanding disk, I am considering using this on the large flat areas, but I will hand sand the corners. I also have a ladder rack on the back, I will be taking this off soon, and checking for rust on the bed rails. If there is, I will cut off the standing pipe and bolt the angle iron back on to the bed. It is there now, so I don't seeing it hurting, just helping if in fact the rails are shot. But I don't think they are.

Pretty much the only option you left out: Buy New. Pricey, yeah, but you'll probably only have to do it once.

Chrysler has no info for any 88 year vehicles. :fs1:

As far as I know, they will work. I have had 2K lbs in my non-metric ton 88 MJ. :dunno:

Well the Super 44 caught my eye first, but I saw a vid with the Super 40 on a Manche, it sounded ok. But I imagine the mic wasn't the best for picking up all the sound. I can't measure the stock muffler because it isn't there! Just running a cat, no more pipe after. Hence the reason for the new exhaust :yes:

I am going to put a new exhaust on my Comanche. I was looking on Flowmaster's site, and found the Super 44 and Super 40. It says the 44 will fit. I then looked on Amazon for a cheaper price, and they have both the 44 and the 40. Amazon says the 40 will NOT fit. :smart: Dimensions being what they are on the 40, and proper clearance, and no cutting, the 40 shouldn't fit. :brows: But with some rearranging, will the 40 fit? the muffler sizes are the same, so maybe it is where the pipes come out of the box? It has a nicer tone than the 44, is cheaper, and louder.

Mad e a list of the things I will need to paint it. Going to do some shade of dark green. Maybe OD, maybe forest. I like both. Also, taxes!!! Got all kinds of plans for it.

That is a Miranda Class starship, and they usually don't have the lower wing. But there are different configurations for different sensor packages. Typically a science vessel, they can be out fitted with weapons packages as well.

Could you imagine taking the freeway to work? You could take turns doing 130-ish.

Please don't let it get scrapped, there are so few in existence now a days, it would be a shame. You can get $600 for it, or more, on that website. Your CL ad has already been posted on there, but you can make an ad and add your pics to that. It will get sold! Don't scrap it!
