Very nice looking MJ, welcome to the forum dude! Just how common are MJ's over there? Are they a rare find?
-
It looks like its a nice bumper. Its really smooth and clean. I'm not gonna say anything about the price cause the time and all needs to be figured in with the demand and materials for these... I will say though that as an owner myself I would never buy a bumper with out the D-ring tabs, especially on a Comanche because they can be used as tie down points as well for something to pull on. Just something for you guys to think about if you tweak the design. Thanks for some aftermarket support for MJ's

Dude, I love that 66 yrs old one for some reason. It just speaks to me and tells me to go buy a brand new one...
-
Not for me... I woulda found an old gas can, set it in a field and had some fun.

Tell ya what... To keep yourself from having to repay the fafsa and to promote the world of MJ ownership... buy the truck and sell it to someone else that you know is interested in MJ's for $50 more than you paid. This way everyone wins... Just my $.02 but if I were you I would do everything in my power to avoid that loan... I own all of my stuff outright and have no loans or debt to my name. Its a wonderful place to be...

Have a listen... The mic on my camera isnt very good. It sounds much better than this... Here is the paint update. Going to shoot the rest of it this week. Just got the insides of the hood and doors done to make masking easier...

Army surplus stores have good stuff when it comes to this. Some of it may be used, but that doesnt matter to me...

Sure is... Nice Work!

My Dad and I went to Philmont back in 2001. My brother has been there 3 times, once with my Dad as well and the lateset trip for him was actually last week. He got home Sunday night. Yah, Philmont is a big deal in BSA, but I enjoyed my trip to Atikokan, Ontario to the Northern Tier canoe base much more. ;) I got my Eagle in 2000. Nice to see lots of fellow BSA guys on here!

fits pretty good too. I don't think its a comanche part though. do you know what its out of? Thanks again.

One old axleshaft that you can hack up, a bit of steel and some time with a mig welder can get you something like this. Bolt it to the bed from the back and bottom and that way you keep it from falling over when the tire isnt on it. When the tire is on it, it actually supports the weight of the rack with the tools strapped to the back of it.

?unbolt the tranny crossmember, let it down and get about 3' of extension on your ratchet. crawl underneath and loosen it up from under the truck. Make the job easy. It is more work to do it this way but it should save some time and scraped knuckles. Just my $.02

Did the 1999 mirrors bolt right onto the '88 doors when you did the conversion?

So its been a while since I updated my build thread. but its because I've been too busy working on the truck. :brows: I left off with the new wheels and tires. Since then I have added a Clayton longarm kit, built a tool rack and tire carrier for the bed, built a new rear bumper and bought a JCR offroad one for the front, welded perches in the bed for my chrome rollbar to bolt in and out of very very easily and most recently gotten the truck, bed and bumpers sprayed with bedliner and rocker panel guard (this weekend). Next to come is paint and a new exhaust. The rocker panel in the second to last is the color the rest of the truck will be. 2003 Chrysler Electric Blue Pearlcoat. I hope to have paint sprayed by mid August at the latest.

I run with the Rusty's 4.5" packs in the rear and 3.5" coils and some spacers in the front. The rear springs are still SUA. I bought the chrome rollbar from 88swampedmj on here. He took it out of a truck he bought, it looks like its an aftermarket one to me. -

You want pics? Mmmk These are all from this last year. I'll have a whole new batch of em once I get it back on the road. Paint color will be changed along with about everything else but the rims/tires... :brows: These pics don't have much in the line of showing aftermarket parts. I do have some build pics that show the aftermarket parts I do have on it if you are interested in seeing them. Ok, Gotta have a starter pic to show where it originated from. Just for kicks, here is the truck as of this weekend. Use those all you want, if you can at all. I went crazy with some pics there for a bit...Sorry[/img] -
Yah, I like the pic of that truck.
-
Also, that motor should be a 4.0L H.O. ;)

Bed pics are in the "Manche parts" post, let me know what you think.

Those shock adapters sure look easy to make. Something I'm missing in just looking at the pic? I hope they don't cost an arm and a leg...

My Dad and I just picked up another Comanche yesterday. Its a Longbed. He is going to strip it of its driveline components to put in his Willy's Pickup as he builds it up over the next few years. The MJ is toast. Both fenders are junk, the cab has been smashed in by the roof which also smashed in the top of the drivers door. Floors are rusted out of it and rockers/cab corners and tailgate are MIA. The only good panels on it are the passengers door and the header panel. I'm gonna strip this puppy clean before I watch it go to the crusher ( what we saved it from) of anything that I could possibly use, but I have no need for the bed on it and neither does my Dad. The bed has big rust holes in it along the drivers side but the passengers side is not too bad. The passenger side has a big dent in the panel. The hoops in the front of the bed have been pulled on by something really bad and it pulled up the inner boxsides with it. BUT the floor has no holes in it and I think it might be something worth working with. I can get pics if ya want. IDK if you are interested in the bed off of this or not. The truck is a perfect donor for a "cheromanche" cause the back of the cab is good and the rear portion of the bed is savable. (If nothing else I'll torch the back off of the bed and the back of the cab off so I can possibly sell them to someone wanting to do the conversion and save another MJ from getting cut up in the future.) It just really makes me want to help when I look at the bed you have on yours and know all the work that you have ahead of ya. This one isnt much either but it is better than the salt spreader one ya got in my opinion. We arent far, just an hours drive up 131. Let me know what you think. Dad says $25 would take the bed if you come and help pull it. I've also toyed with the idea of making a trailer out of it for mine :brows:

My Dad used the winch on his TJ to raise and lower our TV antenna. Park the Jeep on one side of the house, run the cable over the roof and put boards down to protect the shingles at the peak and up and down she goes with the flip of a switch. :brows:
-
Is that a JCR Offroad Stage 4 front bumper? I just ordered mine a few weeks back. :brows:

If you have problems finding bed panels to patch that one with, there is a JY in Cadillac that has three SWB trucks. None of the beds are perfect but they would be better than trying to work with the rust that you have. Just an FYI if thats the route you planned to go. Best of luck, Brent

How bout this, weld a tab on each side of the arm from the nut welded to the arm to the nut welded to the joint. This will keep the joints from twisting and as long as I don't burn it in there, could be ground off easily to adjust them in the future. This way there is no hacking up of anything. I'm also going to try and throw in another spacer above the coil and boost it up some more to see if it helps...
