Dang. Some hot takes here ya know hahaha. My favorite one is that electric cars are environmentally friendly despite the god awful lithium mining operations and that that battery style is prone to fires.

I think I do have some on hand. I’ll shoot you a PM when I dig them out.

Ahhhh. Good times. Good times. Easily a couple weeks of narrowing it down to a bad injector.

What’s this called?

…well yeah….we all have a brain fart now and then. Anyways the parts manual didn’t have it listed as a serviceable part and finding it was tricky. But they’re a Ford part. I really just didn’t want the owners of this ZJ I’m helping them with to buy a new prop valve for the switch. -

Sadly no. But it was this white 390 with this really sparkly red body line decal and had a sparkly AMC logo on the trunk. @89 MJ might remember it. It wasn’t all original, it had been restored at one point in its life before the new owner got it last year. -

You’re telling me!! I couldn’t believe it when I simply heard 1986. I’m still stunned and shocked. -
Fuel smell only when tank is filled

Does the area around the sending unit look wet? My XJ kinda does the same. -

Mopar show! Also….. I am absolutely speechless. I honestly didn’t think the Eagle would win. I was against an AMX and a Gremlin. -
Why is my eagle overheating?

Chances are I am looking at getting the radiator serviced or replacing it with a CJ7 one. Time will tell what steps I take. -
Why is my eagle overheating?

I created a little tool to help me flush the radiator and I want to share the idea. I took a spray paint cap, used a soldering iron to cut the middle out which is the perfect diameter for a garden hose And the inner sleeve of the cap allows it to slide in to the rad fittings like this Then you can insert the garden hose to the hole you made on the cap and it should help make less of a mess and let more water force in the radiator to get a good guaranteed flush. -

Right now that’s what I’m leaning towards as is probably everyone else. -

Why is my eagle overheating?

Ive got vinegar in it right now. I didn’t see any chunks when I flushed it and these could be small enough chunks to plug up each passageway too. In other news I found a temp drop in the middle. Almost 200 on the sides and top, bottom is low but that’s to be expected but I found the middle of the radiator to be cooler. About 120-150* range. I probably have a plug where it’s most vital for the coolant to flow. -

My thoughts right now. I remember the core was plugged and the valve is in poor shape and no coolant was ever flowing through it. I did flush that and it probably stirred stuff up and got it into the radiator and plugged some of it. Did flush the core again and took some serious hose pressure to dislodge whatever was in there so chances are this is my issue since it gradually overheats and not almost instant. I probably either need a better one or replace the batteries as mine seems to not read “accurately” but nonetheless a goal. 13lbs is the proper pressure. Right now it’s water and whatever else is floating around. I’ll do the proper mix when this is solved. I know I’ve been able to run water in my MJ for a few years with no issue. I’ve moved to having actual coolant since then. -

Those a both great spots. One thing that bothers me is removing one of those heater core hoses results in hardly any water coming out of the core which makes me wonder if any water is getting in their but I’ve felt the hoses get pretty damn hot. -

That was one of the first things I checked after swapping the temp sensor. Coolant came right out. I’ve got vinegar in the radiator right now. -
Ouch. 4cyl too. Rare bird.

I have a new control valve on the way. But I’m not sure it it will actually affect anything. It is pretty damn old and crusty thought but not broken apart. -

Baking soda doesn’t sound like a bad idea at all. Been using that to clean stuff. Maybe I can get it hot enough to where it’ll clear stuff out. My other thought was evaporust again. I’ll have to do that. 89 MJ said to take my digital thermostat and see if there’s no temp across the radiator somewhere.
