Can confirm. AMC used SAE threads up until probably 86 when they changed. I thought all the 2.5s were the same until I went to change my oil filter on my 84 and it was a different size. So 86-90 use the Renix Metric size. I’ve had my TPS do the same thing except not totally drop out but just stop keeping up and then come right back and be fine for a little bit. I’ve had fuel pump be fine until it gets warm and it basically won’t be able to keep supplying fuel until it stops and you have to reprime the pump to be fine again until it repeats. Issue sounds fuel related but luckily all the sensors can be tested with a VOM.

Yup! We invited the discontinued Mopars too. Great show this year!
-
Yeah next year you’ll be car 34!
-
What a great show so far!! Even @Eagle_SX4 joined the party! The eagles are definitely getting attention.

This is good to know. At least Mexico can appreciate the finer qualities of good old fashioned American shopping and tools. If they were still around here in the states I’d be there more than I would be at Home Depot or harbor freight.

It’s an 84 with 80k!? I dont know what’s more impressive now. My 84 with 300k+ or the fact they found an absolutely clean low mile 40 year old XJ.

Oooo I did this recently. So I did the single piece on my MJ years ago. I didn’t have an issue but it’s leaking at the timing cover now which I kind of expected. I just did the multi piece on my XJ a few weeks ago and found it a little more easy to deal with so long you put a little bit of gasket maker on to keep the pieces in place. If I was to do such again, I would do the single piece especially on the 6 cyl with some gasket maker to help keep it in place when installing. Though the only thing I don’t like about the single piece is the front timing cover portion but it does cup the lower cover really well.

Getting the CAD working

Nope. That’s pretty much it. -
Ok so yeah that is probably the ash tray light like I’m thinking. The only thing I can think of that uses that metri pack connector in the last pic is the vanity mirror on the visor. But I’m pretty sure that’s a pink wire and not orange.
-
White is clock. Does that one in your hand have an orange wire? Probably ash tray light The elbow is the power of the lighter the flat spade is ground and the orange is for the light for the green ring around the lighter. Radio harness. Do not plug those into each other or you’ll destroy stuff Where is this one at?

I know the Haynes or chiltons aren’t all that great but it’s a good starting point. I was beginning to wonder with all your problems and questions that if you had a manual or not. Not that there’s anything wrong with asking questions on here but if you didn’t have one I was gonna see if you wanted one to have and guide ya. But I’m glad you have one! -

Tom. Do you have an FSM by chance? Or even a chiltons or Haynes manual? -

The internal slave on the 87-90 2.5Ls is what prompted me to hunt down an 84-86 external slave set up so I don’t have to keep messing with shoddy quality internal slaves. -
Probably without a doubt the most dedicated. Even to the point where we have other AMC products on here with some tech help.

Some of the Renix or Fenix probably made it to Volvo cars. I’m not surprised that such has been found but given how often you don’t see Volvo cars around, it’s probably why no one thought to check their parts. -
Re-Seal my sealed beam light

I had one lamp do this to me. Glued it back with no issues but something with the glass orientation changed the lamp to aim up instead of down which was weird. I still have that lamp. -
Ok If anyone wants an update, heres the update. They got the 95-98 Booster and master. I was able to put them both in. Had to make a slight adjustment to the brake lamp switch bracket and probably will need to adjust the pushrod in the booster but we will see. Sadly this Jeep has a little more to go before being roadworthy but it has brakes and thats the important part. So yes a Later ZJ booster and master will go in to an early ZJ.

You know, you probably could body swap such with a modern drive train.

Actually I agree with this. Cars should go back to being underpowered gas sippers that can do 0-60 in 14+ seconds and trucks and SUVs should just be torque/towing rigs rather than these unnecessary muscle trucks capable of doing 100+ for no reason at all. Ive seen folks be very reckless doing 80+ weaving in and out of lanes for no real reason other than to endanger others on the road.

Dang. Some hot takes here ya know hahaha. My favorite one is that electric cars are environmentally friendly despite the god awful lithium mining operations and that that battery style is prone to fires.
