  1. Has anyone rebuilt one before? Just looking for the right u-joints if this has been done.
  2. Ooooo that is a big question. If ya do, it should be the red white and blue scheme.
  3. Or converting from manual to flag manual mirrors or manual to tow mirrors. There like 5 different avenues here haha.
  4. Haha glad ya got a kick out of that!
  5. Not much bad about it honestly. Just was replaced by the 231. Though I did find that GM used a version of the 207. 207C. C meaning Chevy probably.
  6. As far as I know, the 207 is just an older version of the 231. Guess a quick Google could say if there’s any other issues with the 207. But with me, I haven’t seen or felt any issues.
  7. Hey. We went in expecting results and by damn we still got some results! And I had a feeling that speedo cable end was the same. Be rather odd to have a unique end for the 207 but everything else is standard. Really out of AMCs wheelhouse to do that on the waning years.
  8. You have to take the cluster apart to get to the pot on the back of the gauge itself.
  9. I’m interested. Gives me some avenues for my 207 in the XJ.
  10. @boxyjeep That off-road decal in this manual looks pretty cool if you haven’t made this yet. Also this has good info. I thought Chrysler was blowing it out their butt to call the AMC engines “power tech” to remove the history of AMC but looks like AMC was already calling their 4.0L “power tech”
  11. I’d love to hoard such. I try to let others get the opportunity first before I take up anyone in their offer.
  12. Hmmmm. That could be an issue.
  13. ….of course…thanks AMC. Now I want to hunt a 231 case end and see if that will bolt to the 207 and would help eliminate problems with lifts while using a 207
  14. Yeah the Bendix belts are very rebuildable. The AMC ones are not and are very fragile.
  15. Wait, will such bolt to a 207? Might be a worthwhile upgrade since the 207 speedo gear is also unique to the 207.
  16. Nope. Completely different animal. On the 228/9 you can as that carried over to everything else but the 207 is unique for some odd reason.
  17. Ahhh. Yup the 207 will do it.
  18. AMC switched in 87 to an adjustable. If you’re good with electronics you could in theory adjust the older style which I would love to know how to do in the event I need to use an older tech from a 6cyl. Same goes for the speedo connector. interesting you weren’t able to use your speedo cable on the AX15 even though nothing changed for using the cable there unless you have a AX15 with the digital speedo sensor. When swapping from an 86 cluster to a 87-90, you’ll need a new speedo cable that will clip on to the new connection.
  19. Finally got a tire on the spare and able to put this cover I got many many moons ago when I had my spare in the bed of my MJ. Now I really want to put the AMC logo with “Jeep” below the logo on the cover.
  20. I enjoy treasure stories like this.
  21. I just a bottom vent to direct air. On models with a center console, a different box would be there that gets connected to a plastic tube that’s guided under the console to blow air to the passengers.
  22. My bad. I was slightly wrong. But what Eagle said is right. The rod for the brake master pushes on the switch itself.
  23. Without literally sprinting to my truck to take a pic of such, the pedal bar needs to be in between that gap on the switch itself.
  24. Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with such. If you work on a project to the point where it’s not fun, you’ll burn yourself out on it and end up getting rid of the project. So if anything, it’s more of taking a break on one and distracting yourself with another.
