  1. Thank you @eaglescout526. I sent emails to Novak and advanced adapters telling them that I wanted to drop a sbc in there and told them what I had and they said I would need to change the front end in order to have room. I have compared my Comanche to a later Cherokee and my radiator is set about 7 inches deeper in the engine bay. So something will need to change. I was not sure what all needed to be done. Also I imagine the little radiator for the 2.8 would need to be replaced with something with more cooling capacity and surface area.
  2. Sorry, I could not find any videos or write ups. I have an 86 Comanche and want to change the front clip so I can fit a sbc in there. I have the version that does not have the dent in the firewall and the radiator is placed closer to the engine than the grill. This is a 2.8l v6. No, I don’t want a 3.4 from an 84 camero. I am mechanically inclined and know where there is a donor Cherokee that I can cut up. Anyone have a pointer to a video or article that can explain the caveats / tricks? Thank you
  3. Than you guys for your responses. Let me get back to the drawing board
  4. Guys, I know this topic has been covered but most speak about the 3.4 in the camero and are old posts. Anyone know if I can drop a saddle and carb on a 3.4 out of a 2000’s gen 3 60 degree 3 and bolt up to my tranny? From what I think that I understand it should bolt right up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_60°_V6_engine
  5. Sounds like I need to go back and get it in case someone needs it. Assuming they charge me a small amount as it will need to be reconditioned (paint, stickers removed, etc) for whoever uses it.
  6. @Pete M There was a rear sliding window, but it was outset like an inch or so. Not sure where it came from but it is not like my sliding glass window that sits flush.
  7. Same junk yard, look what I scored for $75 yesterday. Sorry, had to brag.
  8. Thank you guys for the advice and time you took to reply! As I keep reading everywhere, those axles are still on those vehicles for a reason it seems. Compatibility with … well other Land Rovers.
  9. I thought 97. This thread is about to be dead, unless someone knows different. In this wrangler forum that said the front is passenger drop instead of driver and the rear is offset driver side. I guess I should have crawled under the vehicle first. Still going to next time in that yard to verify though: https://www.wranglerforum.com/threads/land-rover-discovery-axle-swap.227546/
  10. That is what I was thinking. Those axle housings are offset up front and 60” wide. I assume then 14 bolt is in the center. I just need to do more research on my own, but like you said … I cannot find any write up or video which makes me wonder why.
  11. Hello. Sorry I have been googling and googling and cannot seem to find enough info here. I have an 86 Comanche and am slowly building her up. I have the POS V6 and want to swap in a diesel (I am a diesel lover). OM617 is the likely candidate with all the trimmings. That being said, I need to swap ax5 for ax-15, np207 for np231 and then there are the driveshafts and axles. I have a junk yard near me with several land rovers, one I know is a 97. There are older ones there as well. All these vehicles still have the axles and steering linkage. From what I read, those front should be D60 and the rear 14 bolt. Also, I think I can get the axles really cheap (part of why I am entertaining the idea). Also, I know those axles are overkill from D35, D44 but my motivation is lower cost to aquire them and durability. Does anyone have any information or a pointer to a write up that covers this topic? If not, any insight? Thank you
