one_bad_MJ replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
POP and Bang could be from dizzy being out of time OR plug wires on wrong OR bad compression in 2 or more cyls compression test it. check your firing order and check your Dizzy Check your engine grounds too. add one you never know... -
And track bar... and sway bar links... and shocks... and brake lines... and you'll want big tires... so you'll want to regear... I'm running 33's on my truck with 3.07 gears and i still get 28 mpg straight 6 renix 5-spd my truck turns them just fine.

Clutch Disengagement Point
one_bad_MJ replied to SubSonic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my 89 pioneer came with a new aftermarket clutch master. and it was bad i had goofy pedal and you could bleed it until your blue in the face, it would still loose pressure. well i changed my trans and slave cyl. they my clutch pedal was still acting up. so i went to the junkayrd anf for 5.00 i got a OEM one from a cherokee. big resi on it for fluid and it works fine try to get a older orginal style master cyl for your clutch not the POS aftermarket ones. -

Cheapest gas tanks???? please look
one_bad_MJ replied to one_bad_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it goes in the same way to came out. i changed my fuel pump in my 89 xj while the tank was in the jeep. you can do the MJ the same way as well. the panel is on the side i used a flat head screw driver and a hammer to tap out the lock rung then pulled it out. it was easy I'm debating on jb welding my tank and undercoating it or to buy a new one. anyone else fix theirs or just replace? -
who has the cheapest gas tanks out there? I'm looking for a new one since mine is surface rusted through on the side. please post links thanks. i found that raybuck has them for 119.99 for comanche 6' bed 18 gal with fuel inj.

Gas leak.. now more problems
one_bad_MJ replied to one_bad_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the fuel pump seal is fine the leak is coming from the front on the side somewhere the skid plat is covering it up -
ok i was smelling gas real bad for like 2 weeks now but no sign of a leak. i filled up the general today and look down its like a waterfall of drips brought it home and went to check it out. took 3 of the 6 bolts out of the stupid skid plate and the other 3 on the back are spinning and won't come out. Now the stupid spot welds broke that hold the nut part of them and I'm F'ed gas still leaking out 4 hours later. i can't use a gringing wheel to remove the stuck bolts due to everything's covered in raw gas. what should i do??? how do i get this skid plate off to inspect the leak and fix it. and do they make a plastic gas tank yet for these? as far as i can see theres no rust on the fuel tank. maby the seam split
