my comanche treats me well runs good but the only thing that bugs me is reverse.
i got stuck in a 3' snow drift today when i slid into it this evening and i was stuck for a hour before my buddy pulled me out with his samurai. i know right a samurai. anywho
while being stuck i managed to work the jeep along 60' before no more success when i got the jeep reverse would pop out here and there and you would half to hold it in..
well lets just say 4x4 does not like reverse or vise versa.
when in low it wasnt that bad until i rev and let go of the clutch it would bang out then grind and make horrible noises. its getting worse and worse
i have a 89 jeep comanche pioneer 4.0L 5-spd 4x4
what trans do i need ?
will a cherokee 5-spd fit?
what is all needed for this trans change. i have don't tranny swaps and alot of mechanical work to race cars etc but i never messed with a jeep trans how long will it take and I'm guessing the auto trans are heavier then the 5-spd trans
please reply on what trans i need and a time estimate. I'm pretty fast at mechanical work and i have all of the tools needed.
thank you.
ob yeah whats the basic going rate for a used 5-spd 4.0L trans
