  1. the old S-10 were almost identicle, the boxy ones 85-94?
  2. I think the black tape is friction tape, thanks for the pointers on the connectors I got them apart. I used some knock of brand of armor-all to clean the wire up, know I can tell what colors they are.
  3. all right, I have a full wiring harness to swap in to my MJ. I am swaping in a dash harness to fix the disintagrating fuse block, and I have a 90 engine harness to delete the C101 conector in my rig. So, I want to clean all the wiring up before I put it in> 1 what do I use to clean the gunk and grime out of the connectors that is plastic safe? 2. how do you take the wires out of the relay sockets? I figure there is a tab I have to push or squeeze inside the sockets to release the wire, from what end do I insert the tool? 3. I am going to replace all the cracked loom with new stuff, while dismantling the old stuff I came across 2 kinds of tape that the factory used to hold all the wires together, what is it? some looked like athletic tape, some other stuff looked like electrical tape but wasnt as sticky or stretchy (it just didn't look like like old electrical tape)
  4. i got one . PM'd you
  5. I had no idea they had a value line of winches, the only reason i went with the m8000 was the price of the winch.
  6. what year caddilac? model?
  7. you can't go wrong with the warn M8000. It is a good winch. less money then the rest and it works for what most of us use it for. unless you are doing a lot of long winching evolutions every day it will hold up. is this going on a DD or a off road only?
  8. like mj mike did, I got the rusty's cone filter adapter 30$ the I got some card board and cut, shaped, and taped together a "splash" shield and took it to a HVAC company. For 25$ they took a piece of 16 guage aluminuim(sp) and bent it into shape. Then I tok some of that door edge guard stuff, its like 5$ for 2 doors worth, and wraped the splash shield so I would get cut on it while working on the truck.
  9. well I guess I need the fuse block and the cab side harness, the only hiccup I have is (and it might be due to the fuse block) the PO ran a seperate power wire back to power the tail lights. I guees I could start with the cab side harness.
  10. I am looking for the full harness both sides of the firewall. I already have a good engine harness coming( seperate issue). to $500 mj let me know what you got. To auto man, could you find out the the specifics, auto or 5 spd, see if he still has it maybe I could deal with him directly. I was affraid it wold be a bit of money could I use a cherokee harness, whats different between the the xj and mj?
  11. 4.0 and long bed. how does the engine size engine matter?
  12. like title says. my fuse block is dead I need a whole chassis wiring harness. from the block to all plugs. the only pick n pull yard doesn't have one, the junk yards that do have them are ar the kind that they go and pull stuff, like I am gonna pay for the time it takes to take out a chassis wire harness. any body got ones??? Allen
  13. some guys have figured it out over on NAXJA, its a little easier than that. I am still doing a little research as well.
  14. I will see if I can get a picture up, but I used some cardboard and spent a little while cutting, measuring and taping a shield together then took that template to a HVAC company and they bent up a shield for me for 25$, I put some door edging on it so i wouldn't cut myself and it works great.
  15. some times it is really inconvienent to find a welder to come and weld it on or get the truck to somewhere to weld it. and sometimes you might live in a town that that just doesn't have anyone that does that sorta stuff. to each his own, If i didn't have a friend at work that had a welder I would have done the bolt on job, because I could do everything in one day in my driveway. and then drive it to work the next morning. I am not playing sides here just stating that some things are easier for some people to attain then others(welder)
  16. isn't 195 the stock thermostat setting? so it would appear that eveything is OK? or am I missing the ?
  17. engine wire harness??
  18. i don't need the pcm, just all the wiring ah plugs to plugs if there in good shape
  19. is it a 4.0? I need the the PCM to engine wire harness if its in good shape the whole thing. Allen
  20. is there anything that you have to consider with the WJ brake combo that was design for rear disc's and now is pushing to drums?
  21. I made a 3500 mile trip from oregon to south carolina in my MJ, 4.0 35's and 4.56. it worked great I had 700 pounds in the bed and a u-haul trailer with 2000 pounds in it. 65 mph was the sweet spot. I went to a lot of used tire shops and found some 35 inch street treads just for the trip. that helped alot. and no A/C I feel for ya. The tow dolly is another idea though
  22. I know this thread is a little old, but does anyone know if there would be a problem if a ax-15 was running ATF in it
  23. can i mix and match? If i understand this right, ecm wiring goes thru the cab then connects to the engine harness. Then there is the chassis electrical that has the fuse block and protects all the lighting and auxilary systems. So is there 2 seperate wire systems???
  24. I have a 87 5 spd mj, that it is begining to have numerous electrical gremlins, I replace the clutch system years ago and cleand the fuse block but the damage before that took its toll. Iwant to just swap ou the Entire wiring harness cab and engine side, My question I found an 87 5 spd mj in the junk yard that is in relitively ok condition, I haven't pulled the fuse block off yet to look behind it I also found 2 89 or 90 auto cherokees that still have a full wiring harness intact. My concern is the C101 connector, do I pull the wiring out of the junkyard mj and clean all the wires and connectors and hope that C101 holds up OR Pull the auto cherokees that don't have the C101 or the slow death from a leaky clutch seal? Is the cherokee harness thaty different???
