Probably not, but check with Nick or RE to be sure. How is Nick? I haven't touched base with him for probably ten years or more. I haven't talked to him in a long time either, my jeep has always rode very rough, especially the rear, I was thinking maybe its the way the shocks are mounted now.

I hope this isn't considered a thread high jack, but here's my question concerning the above topic. I have a 98 grand cherokee with a three inch pro comp lift, I talked to nick (aka Kolak) to get some better shocks. He recommended Rubicon express mono tubes but he only found a set of them that we're designed for a TJ but the lengths worked. I have the rears mounted boot down, is this correct???

I've pulled the fuse box apart last summer I did a bunch of rewiring. The fuse panel screws on to the firewall over the top of a 2 piece wire bulkhead connector. The cab side wire harness connects to a engine bay wire harness. There is a gasket between the two halves, mine is gone sounds like yours is too. I tried making one it didn't work. I just snapped them together pushed the connector tight too the fire wall from the inside and then siliconed the hell out of the perimeter of the connector on the engine side. Those two halves are held together by a small hex head bolt, I can't remember the size but I wanna say it was 8mm or 1/4 or close to that. The fuse part screws on over the bulkhead connector The 2 bolts are large Phillips head screws course thread mine never came out of the cab side of the harness.

2 ?'s: Rear Locker Choice And Car Cover.
87mjdriver replied to 87mjdriver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wished arb made a cable or extricate conversion. I heard the Detroit would be a good idea but it in the snow could be interesting. Anyone have a truck cover meant for outdoor use? -
1. I have ARB's front and rear for the 2nd time in 8 years I have a leak in the rear locker. It's the collar in the arb that leaks I guess it just a rubber seal but, I don't have the tools or the know how to fix it myself so I have to take it in, I would like to replace the ARB with something else anyone have a recomendation? It's a DD long bed with a D44 my only concern is keeping it roadable and I live in MN, I have been told a LSD in snow is bad, any thoughts. Does anyone have a fabric cover for their MJ, any recomendations?

1500 Mile Trip (Topeka To Boston)
87mjdriver replied to random255's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
5 years ago I made the trip from oregon to south carolina with 500lbs in the bed and a small 4x8 trailer for another 800. this last summer I (with new hell creek springs) made it from south carolina to minnesota with a total of 2200lbs split between the bed and a 5x9 trailer. do a full tune up rotor to plugs check everything that is rubber, wipers usually get overlooked, you already checked hoses check/ change all the fluids. throw in some basic tools plus don't forget a plug socket, couple of hose clamps and a small wiring kit ( butt connecters and wire) Flashlight and batteries too If you can get a CB radio that is a help too truckers can help you spot cops and can get you help they run on ch. 19 I think. -
Windshield Washer Upgrade?.
87mjdriver replied to 87mjdriver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yup freezes, garage is not heated or insulated, wifees ZJ stays in there, the old mj is outside with a oil pan heater and a battery warmer, I never knew what weeks of freezing temps do, tried to clean the wifes zj one afternoon, leather cleaner, armor all, both frozen. oh well, go back inside to the fire and irish coffee. back on topic, anyone know if the cowl covers can interchange between the renix era and chrysler era xj's??? local JY has a nice 96 cherokee that Ive been picking parts off, no renix era jeeps. I found new crysler era nozzels online but no renix era ones -
Windshield Washer Upgrade?.

Harley LOL that's what I'm trying to wash off! That dried road salt crap -
my 87 has the the stock washer system still in place, I recently replaced the washer pump and am not real happy with the results. I blew the hoses out with compressed air to make sure they were clear Is there something that I can change or swap to give it a better spray, has anyone tried something. Is there a stronger pump or maybe changing the nozzles on the cowl? By biggest complaint is that at freeway speed hitting the wash button, the water barely makes it above the wipers at the rest position.

If you always have some weight in the back, I would suggest hell creeks metric ton leaves.

Look what I stumbled upon. I sent these guys an e mail a long time ago when the came out with there cowl induction tube set up. I asked them if it was feasable to get just the adapter so us renix guys could choose from the mass of HO intake tubes. at the time they said not right now, well they came through. http://www.spectreperformance.com/index.php/catalog/air-intake-components/accessories/throttle-body-adapter-87-90-jeep-4-0l-renix.html

Oil Pouring Out Air Filter
87mjdriver replied to 87mjdriver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok so doing some looking around, aparently the little tube that goes from the back of the VC to the intake manifold came off at the intake. That fixed the oil coming out of the filter. When I get the money I'm replacing all the tubes anyway. Besides all the grommets on the valve cover leak. But I am still showing 55 to 60 lbs. of oil pressure. It seems a touch high but not sure if its a concern. I just did an oil change to 5w-30 Mobil 1. And a Fram oil filter which I just read in a post below is questionable. -
What's The Best Oil Filter To Use?
87mjdriver replied to 88blackpearl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
About that upside down filter, can a newer adapter be mounted so its at least on its side. -
I have a rusty's cold air intake tube, I just did a oil change to some thinner oil for the winter, ( i just moved to duluth,MN) at the same time I did a valvecover gasket. when I took apart the vacuum tube assembly I noticed a little bit of oil in the tubes, but nothing in the filter I keep an eye on that cause I know its an issue, So on my next drive to work ( a 25 min freeway ride) I noticed my oil pressure was around 55 pounds witch seemed high to me. I get to work and notice oil (3oz.) pouring out of the air filter My first thought is the whole vacuum tube assembly needs to be replaced but could there be another issue?

Valve Cover Vent Options.
87mjdriver replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You shouldn't need a timing gasket, idid mine maybe 8 years ago and a vaguely remember the pan gasket being a couple pieces . I know I didn't touch the timing cover. -
Shock Pin Eliminators
87mjdriver replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just did this last week, well worth it. I noticed a lot of noise and clunking going on up front so I checked the lower shock bushing...... They were gone completely. I got the iron rock brand BPEs $30 and they move the shock mount outboard a little which actually helps... Once you look at it. Firmed up the ride, alot but like I said my bushings were gone. -
Re-curve or just get new springs
87mjdriver replied to apexjeepinjoe's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I replaced my 24 year old originals with hell creeks metric ton springs and saw a 3 inch difference in lift. Not saying the springs are good for a 3 inch lift over stock, but you might not realize how much your stock ones have sagged. Just be preparred for a little adjusting possibly -
When i replaced my wiring harness the 20 year old foam seal disintergrated so i used some foam rubber weather stripping that I had laying around, well I must have missed a few corners cause when it rains I get a stream of water leaking past it dripping onto my feet. I was thinking of using some polyeurethane caulk but considering the tight quarters on the engine bay side I think I would just end up with a real big mess, any other ideas? I was thinking of that pudy stuff, I have head it called monkey (poop) were do I get some of that?

Spectre for Comanche
87mjdriver replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
one thing people miss is the renix throttle body has that goofy shaped intake opening, its not just a round pipe to clamp onto. I emailed spectre about just selling there fitting that bolts to the top of the TB, and they said no, you would have to buy the whole system. Maybe if we got enough people together we could convince them to sell just the *90. -
I just had the same issues you are having, mine was the slave cylinder. mine is a 95 which is a internal slave.

I drive a beater Honda for my commute to work so the mj doesn't get much drive time, there are days when I think of selling it cause it just sits in the driveway, but it never fails I take it for a drive and it puts a smile on my face. Even better is that every time I drive it I get a nod, a thumbs up, or a compliment on it or some old timer will chat me up about. Honda is in the shop and I drove the truck to work today, had a guy in a brand new BMW m3 come alongside and give me a big nod as he was looking at it
