I have a 97 auto 6 cyl hardtop for sale. The body has 190k miles, but the engine was rebuilt and the transmission was replaced with a new one about 50k miles ago. I'm in NC if you're up for the drive.

I got a new speedometer cable from Advance Auto, but the cable in there now looks like it has enough slack to make up the difference. We'll see. I've got my axles swapped too, but my transmission and transfer case is waiting in my garage. Congratulations on the swap.

Goodyear Wrangler Authority A/T from Wal-Mart....
Rymanrph replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in The Pub
I've seen several reviews of them on jeepforums and they all seem to be pretty favorable. I asked about them this weekend and the guy couldn't even give me a price on them. He said they could only look up metric sizes, so finding a price for a 31x10.50 would be difficult. I said forget it; I'll worry about it later. -
I had an SRT-4 and I'm pretty sure that they share nothing in common. Always wanted one of these:

The TJ I'm working on had similar issues. From a half-way installed remote start to lousy stereo wiring to the downright dangerous offroad light wiring. The ground was exposed wire just wrapped around a bolt head and the power wire came directly into the cab. To turn the lights on, he said just twist those two bare wires together......

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well, progress has been made. I got the front 2wd axle out: Got the new Dana 30 in with new rotors, calipers, pads, coils, shocks, steering from the donor and a ZJ sway bar: I'll disconnect the old caliper when I'm ready to bleed the brakes. Got the old Dana 35 out too: I got the 8.25 mocked into place, but forgot to borrow an angle finder, so I haven't set the pinion angle yet. I decided to put it on all fours to see how the lift looks: Hopefully I can get the pinion angle set and get the perches welded on tomorrow. Then once I get it bolted back in, I'll have to do the rear brakes. I'll do a shake down run with the current transmission to make sure the lift and axles are good and then I'll tackle the 4wd transmission and transfer case. -
I swapped out the 2wd front axle, put in the new dana 30, then put on new rotors, calipers and pads. Then I pulled out my old dana 35 and hung my new Hell Creek springs. The 8.25 is still waiting.

What are folks opinions of the 2009-10 Cadillac CTS
Rymanrph replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in The Pub
Cadillac just came out with a wagon version of the CTS and I think it looks great. Some people don't like wagons, but for the added utility, I think it would be a great car to have. -
I rejoiced knowing that my lift kit arrived this afternoon. I have Friday off, so the 4wd swap will start.

Speedometer Cable and Cruise Control?
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the input guys. I ordered it today and it will be here tomorrow. I'm just one part away from my 4wd swap. -
I went to the parts store to order a longer speedometer cable for my 4wd swap and when I told him I wanted a cable for 1990 Comanche 4wd, there were 2 options: with and without cruise control. Now, I don't have cruise on my truck, but I was curious as to what the difference between the two cables would be.

Any idea where I can get a push bar like that on the front? That's a great looking truck you've got. -
Black with tan interior would probably look pretty sharp. If you like black, I'd say go for it.

I've read several posts about setting the pinion angle on my new axle, but they all involved putting the axle in the truck. Can I set the angle without putting it in the truck? The reason I ask is I won't be doing the welding (new perches) at my house, so I have to mark the axle and then take it somewhere. I'm also doing a 3" lift when I put the new axle in. What is my best option for setting the pinion angle since I need the truck to take the axle somewhere?

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
New spring perches came today and they are only an 1/8" taller if that. I also bit the bullet and ordered my 3" Hell Creek suspension kit today. I was going to take my axle to the shop tomorrow to have the new perches welded on, but forgot to borrow an angle finder, so that will have to wait till next week. Still haven't made a decision on wheels and tires. I really want a set of Rubicon Moabs, but I really don't want to pay $400 for used wheels. I'm in the same boat with tires. This will pretty much be a daily driver, but I still want an aggressive all terrain or mud terrain. I don't want anything too loud and I've been very happy with the KM2s on my TJ, but I've heard good things about the Goodyear DuraTracs, so I don't know. I don't want to stress about it too much, but this will be the last set of tires I buy for it for probably 5 years, so I want to make sure I get something I'll be happy with. -

Here's the new Dana 30. It came with all 4 control arms, shocks, springs, track bar, steering linkage, brake rotors and I assume those are abs sensors (even though I asked for no abs, no big deal). And here is the 8.25. I cut the old spring perches and shock mounts off last night. New spring perches are on the way. The swap shouldn't be too bad. I've never dealt with drum brakes before, so I've got a little reading to do to get the cut e-brake cables out. I'm hoping I can just use the ones already in the truck. Any reason why I shouldn't be able to? -

Spring perches for Chrysler 8.25
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm looking at Hell Creek's 3" lift kit that comes with new U-bolts. Am I to assume with the mopar perches, that they won't be long enough? -
I've emailed them before. It's $75 more for the mass backing.

I passed a grand cherokee today in dark khaki and my color is off in the photoshop. Here's a pic of the color: I might switch it up and do light khaki, I don't know. Paint fund.. yeah who wants lemondade? How much should i budget for this? My last car I painted was a sedan and I paid right around $5k (expensive, but it turned out great), but I can't see it being that much for a little pickup. Been looking for some Rubicon Moabs, but everyone seems to want $100/wheel. That seems really high to me. And then 245/75/16s cost more than 31/10.50/15s to begin with, so I'm not sure on those yet either. I got my axles today ('97 Dana 30 and '01 Chrysler 8.25); pictures soon. -
Spring perches for Chrysler 8.25
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wish I could do that, but the dealer near me closed. The next closest is about 45 mins away and they close during the week before I can get there. -
I'm picking up my new rear axle tomorrow (8.25) and I know I'm going to have to relocate the spring perches. Is it possible to reuse the existing ones, or will I be better off just getting new ones to weld on? If I get new ones, where is a good place to get them from and what size should I be looking for (axle tube and spring width)?

Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I did this photoshop to get an idea of my end goal. Haven't completely decided on the color, but I'm leaning toward Jeep Dark Khaki Metallic. I might something else completely by the time I pony up the $ to have it painted. -

Haven't figured that one out yet. But I think you're right. -
I found a guy selling 4 lightly scratched from trail riding for $400 (no tires). I think that's a little crazy, but I have no idea what to offer him.
