If your calipers are like mine, go ahead and paint them now. They looked great when I put them, but I didn't realize that they would rust almost instantly.

Welcome. I think many of us bought our trucks for a variety of reasons, but I don't consider the 2wd Comanche any less of Jeep even though I converted mine. 2wd or 4wd, they are all loved here. Post up some pictures if you have any.

Rattle under the drivers side floor board
Rymanrph replied to Jimmy Da Mook's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had an issue where my exhaust was touching the transmission cross member. You could try that. -
If his old ones were actually broken (as in not working correctly) then he wouldn't be as wrong. Never mind, it bugged me too.

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)

The truck is still at paint (going on three weeks now). I hope to have an update this week. I also have a secret that I'm keeping, but I won't be able to share until this coming weekend (probably). -
Looking good Mike! I have the same slider and I'm pretty happy with it.

I've got a car wall with pictures of the vehicles I've owned. The two of the SRT-4 is the same car and three of the yellow TJ are the same too. I need to add my Mustang and get another picture of the Comanche up there when I get it back from paint.

What are you doing about the rear license plate? Great looking truck. Clear or smoked turn signals would look good.
-
Nothing. The truck is still at the paint shop and probably will be still for at least another week and a half. Sad face.

You guys think this is a good deal???
Rymanrph replied to zagscrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
4 Wheel Parts has them listed at $229 a piece (35x12.50x15) with a $50 rebate if you buy at least 4. Tire Rack has them for $211 each. The spare may be an original KM mud terrain. I liked the look of those tires better, but the KM2 is a much better tire. Good luck. -

Rymanrph replied to zagscrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I thought the KM2 was the mud terrain? When I bought my 33x12.50x15s new, they were about $180 a piece (as part of a package deal with wheels). The 35s were slightly cheaper than the 33s at the time. At $140 each, you're saving ~22% on tires that have already been used 10-20%. Just a little perspective. You have to decide if that's a good deal to you or not. You can't let other people make that decision for you. If you do your research (I'm not saying ignorantly do what makes you happy), know what you're getting in to and you're happy with the deal, then that's all that matters. -
Mrsimon's First Mj Project (Tube Bed Page 7)

Ditto. Need more pictures. -
I wasn't exactly sure where to put this; maybe it belongs in the classifieds, I don't know. I recently had to buy a new speedometer gear because of the varying teeth and colors I had in my garage, they weren't the right ones for my gear set and tire size. I thought it would be a good idea to have a single place where people could post up what they need and what they have so other users can find the right gear they're looking for without having to buy a new one or get lucky at the JY. Prices could be kept out of it; just a this is what I have or this is what I'm looking for thread. To start I have the following if it helps someone: - (2) green 31 teeth - (1) green 34 teeth - (2) yellow 30 teeth If this is in the wrong place, mods please feel free to move it. If you don't want it here, feel free to delete it. I'm not posting this as a "I want to sell something" thread, but as a "I want to help someone" thread.

Hope everything goes well Jeff and you come through with flying colors.

Speedometer Gear Shaft Swap
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a green 31, a green 34, two yellow 30s and whatever is in my Comanche right now (its green, but its most likely a 31). Sorry Mike. -
Speedometer Gear Shaft Swap
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The shafts will swap. As far as I recall, you just tap one out and tap the new one in. The gears are the same on both. Thanks for the confirmation. I've did some kinda shaft swap with my TJ, but I just can't remember why or what I did. I even found a cheaper long shaft used one on Ebay, so now I'll be able to save about $25. -
For my 31s and 3.55 gears, everything reads that I need a black 32 tooth speedometer gear, fine. Since I have the newer '97 stuff in my truck, I need the short shaft gear instead of the long shaft, fine. The problem is that the short shaft gears are about $10 more expensive. I've got some spare short shafts laying around in my garage; can I just swap out the shaft and save $10 or is there something mechanically different about the gear itself?

That looks great. Will there be storage in the bed sides? -

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
Rymanrph replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I had hoped that the truck would be painted by now, but I just dropped it off today. He said they were still covered up, but they would squeeze it in. Hopefully it won't take too long. In the meantime, I've got a couple things to take care of. A bumper solution is in the works, I need to order a new speedometer gear and I'm trying to decide between clear or smoked turn signals. Opinions? -
I think that's the first MJ I've seen with the newer XJ bumper on it, but the older fenders and header panel.

Anybody ever use a bench out of another truck???
Rymanrph replied to kmanmj5050's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Have you ever thought about finding someone to trade with? I'm sure you can find someone with a decent bench seat that would like buckets. -
If I remember correctly, that cover does just pop off. You might have to keep messing with it.
-
Why do you only have one '97 door? What about the passenger side?
-
That looks good; what did you use?
