  1. Nice CW . Right out of the SF training videos . I have not seen that stuff for years .
  2. Thanks pete !! Where would I get one ? still a newb !
  3. The main reason why I am doing this is to get more Oxygen in the motor . I live at 7,500 ft. and most trails head strait up to 10,000 ft. REAL quick !!! True cold air intakes are usually mandrel bent aluminum w/ reduction at TBI or at the manifold . Also most good cold air pipes are honed for air velocity perfection , creating a vortex of pressurized air . Letting your motor do its job , improving power , fuel milage , throttle response and of course , sound !! Never put a plastic pipe on any motor , no offense but It would be the same as the plastic box thats on there now . Not only that , but the aluminum pipes disperse heat much faster and keeps the air inside cooler . I live at the base of Pikes Peak , home of the , Pikes Peak Hill Climb , one of the toughest races any motor can endure . Allot of the brand new 100,000 dollar race motors don't even make it to the top , ( 14,000 ft ) + . Even Ol' Al Unser has been defeated by this climb in the past , many times . Every thousand feet , it seems you loose 10 hp . At 13-14,000 ft , you've got your foot all the way in the gas , just to get up the road . Any motor at this altitude should have a better air box set up . I think its a must .
  4. I think I'll fab an air box close to where the stock one sits . Over in the corner . I've done this before , but I wanted to see some of your ideas . Guess I'll have to do some fab. work Thanks for the input .
  5. I like the idea of a cold air intake , I have used other systems before . If I'm going to spend 50 bucks on a filter , witch I will , I would rather buy one for a cold air pipe . The performance gain is a must up here in Colorado . :chillin:
  6. I have a friend that has a ZJ , his stock gas tank was victim of a prank gone bad with a couple of college buddy's . Long story short , after buying two junk yard gas tanks , that were both bad , he gave up . He bought a brand new, off road racing gas tank . I can't remember the brand , but Its all chrome and badass !! Its got an Anti-corrosive shell that also withstands high impact as well . Don't know if thats for you , I'd try finding an XJ , tank first .
  7. Welcome back !! I'm a newb here but your truck is cool . Flat black !!! :chillin: There are a couple of active threads on basic lifts , just depends on what you want to do .
  8. I finally got my wide 31" BFG 's to quit rubbing !! You guys have probably done a million times better at this , but I wanted to show how I cut a very small section out of my front fender, without cutting up the fender too much . I'm not too proud of the inner plastic, but I'll fix that later . I cut a small rectangle of metal about 1.5" - 2.0" inches out of the bottom back side of the inner fender well . All the way back to the clip that bolts the bottom front quarter on . Without cutting the outer panel and body lines . Any ruff or sharp edges were rolled and sanded smooth . I also slightly rounded the bottom quarter of the fender well , so that in case of the tire ever going back that far , it won't tare up the tire too much . :shake: Here are some pics . This is for some guys that want a wider offset wheel and tire and don't have a major lift . Here is a pic before I did the cuts , notice the jagged sheet metal edge under the middle of the inner panel . I pretty much cut that back about 2" inches . Now I have no rub anywhere , even with the wheel all the way over !!!! :beerhead:
  9. Yeah , those sensors add up quick , I was pricing some yesterday . :ack:
  10. Nice and clean ! What's next ??
  11. Thanks !!! I like that filter , I'll check it out .
  12. Nice !! I didn't know you were a Saturn fan !! I've been racing bad @ss Saturn's for years !! Check out our new investment :chillin: Its a XR , with the 6 speed sport shift . Limited Moroccan leather interior . Sits on 20" W/ ZR rated tires . Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  13. Try to find newer model WJ control arms and XJ upcountry springs are the same as ZJ V8 springs . You can also just use an add a leaf in the rear springs to get lift . You'll still need lift shocks though .
  14. I picked this up a the parts store the other day . My air filter wasn't that bad , but I decided to buy a new one . Anyway , I didn't want to pay 50 bucks for a K&N , so I bought this . Probably a P.O.S. , but I'll give it a shot for 12 bucks . :chillin: It does drive allot better . allot more eng. response and a lower drive rpm. probably will equate to better fuel consumption . I would like to see some good , cold air intake systems that you guys have done !!
  15. You can fit 31" tires stock , as long as you stay with stock wheels and offset . a small lift will only help a little with tire rub , most of that is wheel offset and tire width . A basic puck style 2"-3" lifts are cheap though .
  16. Yeah ! Had to take my MJ to the doctor , had a 6 inch lift for more than 5 hours !!!! :( He told me to grow up !! :rotfl2:
  17. I'll totally be there this summer... Just make sure you bring that nice shiny motor with you ! :brows: I'll show you anywhere you want to go . You could spend allot of time here and not even scratch the surface of how many cool trails are here . However I just can't bring myself to go on highly difficult trails . I don't plan on giving up my truck to mother nature . :shake: Bring a camera too !
  18. A couple of years ago I was painting fireplaces with high heat paint and what I found is that most high heat paints have a problem sticking to the primer . The cracks or spider marks that appear are usually result of either micro dust , surface moisture or low - temp. You might want to check out your local professional paint supply shops that might have some better cleaners and supply's to work with. I found a evaporating cleaner that removes micro dust and particles from the surface . I know we used to use it in the body shops . works great , but its expensive . Like 23. bucks a can , made by PPG . You can find other brands that work just as good , maybe cheaper ? :dunno: When you start your first coat of paint , spray very small amounts to the surface , let the paint stick to the surface before coating . As far as baking , That works the best , but if you install the valve cover , the motor temp should help cure it on ?
  19. Ha , that crappy thing is from Auto Zone for like 15 bucks, or something . I'm going to make a new one with REAL leather and red stitching , that truly fits . I think its for a little rice burner , but kooks better than nothing . :driving:
  20. I can't find it now , but the thread was," How rare are the 91"-92" MJ's . There was allot of info in that thread , thats were I got the idea of my build thread . Here's me trying to do anything computer savy ! :brows: :redX: :typing: :huh???:  :wall: :help:
  21. my truck was made in 4-92......so all this info is accurate? there were only 1000 made? I believe so . I don't exactly know how many were made , I read on this site , somewhere ? I do know they stopped production on the truck in 4/92" . So you have one of the very last MJ's ever produced !!! I bet pete or someone knows more about the exact numbers made in 92" . I also thought that most of the 92" trucks were made in 91" Anybody else have any more info or exact numbers ?
  22. Man ' ! I've been saying this for years . Not only suspension products but almost all consumer products are that way . Can't even get a cell phone to last anymore ! Bottom line is , they want your money !!! The worst part is its our own damd fault ! Our own great American spirit of trying to find the best deal , has driven consumer demand to produce cheap replaceable products , made in mostly slave labor factory's , closely connected to the black market . Almost every product now , is made in several different quality levels . Allot more work is put in to fooling you in to not knowing , witch is witch . I would rather pay twice as much and know that I got a good product and the guy I bought it from , can put food on his American family's table . Thats the "American Dream" to me or a large part of it .
  23. I looked at that myself ! Its on the stock hangars . I put a stupid chrome tip for looks but soon looking at new complete exhaust .
  24. Looks good brent ! Doing the same thing with my rear axle soon . I wish I knew what the hell I am doing . :dunce:
  25. Thanks Sinkrun ! I picked up the new style bumper this weekend . Took me forever to finish getting it bolted , the truck must have been in some small fender bender at some point . The mounts where a b*@$£ ! Still a little off but I,m satisfied for now . How does it look ? Image Not Found These are some pics I threw together early today . I couldn't get anything cool and the pics suck but here they are . Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Got one of Balancing rock , for anyone who cares ! Image Not Found Here's one with a better pic of the TJ seats . Image Not Found Here is a pic of my ugly mug that my wife took . :dunce: Image Not Found Image Not Found Oh' and thanks pete , for the stickers ! Representin' Image Not Found
