  8. Now THAT's funny...especially coming from an Oregonian!! ...but seriously folks...Oregon, for the most part, is a very scenic place. Lived in Hauser Or for 2 years. Thought it was some of the prettiest counry around, Next to Colorado. And had the nicest people you could evr hope to meet.
  9. I just received an empty mailing tube from Sutherlin, Or. Mailed July 09, 2013. Any body here know any thing about it? I can't think of any thing I've ordered. Would like to find out what's going on.
  10. Fifty Years? Late comer. The reason for WOT is less restriction to air flow. Supposedly higher and more accurate readings. But why they emphasize it now I don't know. Main thing is have everything in same condition for all readings. Don't take a couple readings in one condition and then change something and take another reading. 10-4 on the purchase of a new gauge. In my humble opinion a vacuum and a compression gauge are two of the most useful diagnostic aids in any mechanics tool box. And like anything else, they're only as good as the person using them. .02c
  11. Got a phone call this afternoon. Was the guy owns the MJ. We talked. He's got a XJ with a bad tranny. Swapped him a 4WD BA10 straight across for his MJ. Got the neighbor to help me and we hooked up the tow dolly and loaded up the BA10, 5 gallons of gas and a battery and went after it. After getting the title I popped the hood, put in the battery and tried to start it. Turned over but no start. Checked spark, good spark. Poured 5 gal of gas into tank and tried again. Took two shots of ether before it fired. Ran good at idle and stumbled a little when gassing it. Got a bug up my @$$ to see about driving it home instead of towing. We took off. Fastest it would go was 30-35mph. That wasn't going to hack it on a interstate for 40 miles. Removed the air cleaner cover. The AC housing was crammed full of some critters nest. Cleaned as much out as i could, left the cover off and we took off again. Hit 75 per with an occasional bump to 80. Ran great. After getting it home started cleaning things up. The air tube from the front bulkhead to the air cleaner input was crammed full of critter nest. Couldn't suck air if it wanted to. Going to clean her up some more tomorrow but so far it looks like a good one.
  12. Equal pressure in all cylinders is not impossible but it is extremely unlikely.Should be at least 2-5 PSI variation. Follow the instructions as given. Use a remote starter button and you won't need another person. Watch the needle and crank until needle quits moving. You DID release the pressure from previous reading BEFORE testing new cylinder didn't you?
  13. Sometimes re tapping the threads, hole, to a coarser thread will work. Then there are the thread repair kits. You drill the hole out to the proper size and install the new bushing? which will give you the same, original threads. Drill the hole out and re thread for the next size larger bolt. Wrap it with duct tape

  18. I have a XJ missing the 242 and a ZJ with a bad 242, I got a half a dozen 231. Guess I'll just line everything up side by side and compare.
  19. I said AVERAGE !
  20. I tried to get one but they didn't have a matching set so I told them to forget it.
  21. Will a 231 direct swap for a 242? Assuming the spline counts the same?
  22. The average human walks 900 miles a year and drinks 22 gallons of beer. That means the average human gets 41 miles to the gallon. That's not bad. Better than my Jeep gets.

Didn't talk to the owner but his brother said he tried to sell it a couple years ago and got no response on his ad so he parked it. Left my number.
