  4. I have a '84, 85 and '86XJ Wagoneer All 3 has the 21 slot grill, chromed, and single headlights. I would like to get a dual headlight setup but haven't found one.
  5. Was saving that for you Sam. I figured with your magic touch and artistic talent that I could never get it as good as you could so when ya going to come down? Kill a couple, shoot the shet and get acquainted.
  6. When these events occur, does your master cylinder have fluid or is it dry? You did check, didn't you?
  7. The Jeep was complete and together when I got. I started stripping it for the engine swap.
  8. The only reason for a grill is to have shiny chrome. If you want black, remove the grill and look at the radiator.OMO.
  9. If you've got the time, just keep it wet with PB. A little heat will help. Be careful. You've got an open hose with a flameable substance in it.I've found the only sure way is to use vice grips on the nut. Usually the corners are already rounded off from trying to use a wrench.
  10. 21 is too much of a grill full. 8 is kind of bare. That leaves the 10.
  11. Just finished replacing a 4.0 engine in '99WJ for a guy from Denver. Sold him the engine and installed it. Figured if the guy had to drive 120 miles one way for this, they must be hard up for parts and mechanics in Denver. Anyway when I got finished I swore I'd never touch another one. A whole day just removing plastic just to get to the engine is ridiculous. Took me 4 days for the job, start to finish. I don't rush things. Just take it easy. Well, got another one. Couldn't turn it down. '98 ZJ, 108K, cherry bod an interior. Busted engine. $250. I got the thing just to part out but after going thru it decided it's just to nice to part. Hey,, A bucks a buck and a guy's gotta keep busy, doesn't he? I had more pics but I can't retrieve them them from good ol trash bucket so I'll quit with one.
  12. You gotta watch them Montana cowboys. They're real killjoys albeit smart, intelligent killjoys. You meant indians.......didn't you Jim? :rotf: So? Can't a Indian be a cowboy? However you are right. I did mean Indian. Spanish lesson for the day; Cowboy=Nino de vaca And yes, there is a story behind that. :rotf:
  13. Short beds are just a long bed that got backed up into a brick wall.

  15. He said he was having brake problems so how is he supposed to stop?
  16. Bolts can only be used twice. After you've replaced all the bolts put a white paint mark on the head of the bolt. If there is a bolt with a white paint mark on it when you removed them, discard it and get a new one.
  17. Clean all threads with a wire brush. Bolts and holes in the block. Start with number 1 bolt. That is the middle bolt, right hand side. Left, right is determined as you're sitting in the drivers seat. After no 1 is no 2, straight across the block and on the left hand side. Continue in a clockwise fashion until all bolts are tightened to specs. your starting in the the middle and working your way out. After the last time around at final specs go around again checking that all bolts are tight. Sometimes it takes 2-3 go arounds to get it.
  18. first step=22 ft lbs second step=45 ft lbs third step;bolt no 11=100 ft lbs, all others=110 ft lbs. Bolt 11 is the front left corner. Coat the threads of bolt 11 with a sealer, Loctite 592 or equivalent
  19. In a carburated system the venturi drops the temperature of the incoming air to a point where under proper conditions, humidity and air temperature will freeze completely blocking the carb throat. Engine stoppage. This also true for a TBI system but to a lesser extant. MPI systems don't have this problem. The purpose of that hose is to supply warm air to the engine at start up to help it warm up faster and when running to supply warm air as needed. That's why the valve in the air cleaner snorkel. In your area the possibility of carb ice is remote but possible. There should be a holder fastened to the inner fender that holds the hose clear of the fan.
  20. Blow by between the piston(rings) and cylinder walls is building up pressure in the crankcase. Also check the PVC valve and hose to make sure they're not stopped up. Check the oil baffle around the filler hole and make sure it hasn't broke off. Quit stepping on the gas or getting in a hurry.
  21. I didn't do it. Bought it about a week ago that way. Fella said his kid did it. Had it buried in a mud hole and was racing the engine to get out. Postmortem says it didn't have any, or was low on oil.
  22. Pulled a 4.0 from a '98 XJ to put in a '88 MJ. Had to. The hole in the block where the rod punched thru kept leaking oil.
  23. Put away the shot gun and try a systematic approach. There is something in that circuit that is defective. First thing you need is a wiring diagram. It will tell you what you should have. Then do a inspection of what you have. If you don't have a multimeter then get one. It's your best friend when it comes to troubleshooting a Renix system, or any electrical circuit.
  24. Beautiful translation. Loved it  .
  25. That topper is such a nice fit I would say factory. However with such a nice fit, what dif does it make whether it's factory or not?
