my next MJ project, this time a street truck
feerocknok replied to BrettM's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Was thinking about it, and if an MJ shackle on an XJ gives it .75" of lift, wouldn't an XJ shackle on an MJ give it a .75" drop? -
I'm very impressed.

Congrats! Take lots of pics, you'll be happy you did later.

Is it bad to invert leaves?

Does that actually work? Is it a bias-ply thing? -

I talk to the guy quite often, but I dislike him. The guy bought some 35" Open Country M/Ts and loved them, and now hates them cause they didn't get good road mileage. -
As far as power, I have Maybe 65 horses in my Yota, and I Can spring wrap it like hell. I also have close to no weight in it though, and am unsure if that is a cause, or if it has an influence.

I was talking to a guy today who has 37" boggers on his Wrangler, with something like 12" of lift. He's done 100 n em  . And he says I'm the reason people want to make lifts illegal... -

Pete, I thought you bought a white MJ at some point that for some reason I remember being all racey. I dunno. -
Found less rust than I thought...

I don't understand how it gets so bad, even with all the salt. My town oversalts the road like mad, and we get wicked snow. I just don't get it. -

That's why my square driveshaft's like!!! Everything sounds like it's being bombarded with axes, mases, and battering rams, and everyone stares! Good back massage though. -
Allison. My dad has the 5 level chip in his '04 Superduty (Banks, I think). Has adjustable mixtures, turbo timing (somehow), and other stuff. I don't understand it, I just put everything to the highest level and watch the tires burn at half throttle. Anywho, it has an exhaust temperature sensor, and when the exhaust gets up to 1600 degrees it kicks down a level, and another level if that's not enough. Also, the tranny temp sensor's easily visable. I LLLOOOVVVEEE the Superduty.

Will do! -
That's looking awesome. My buddy's gonna help me with my tiregate once we can drive it to my other garage. I'll be tying mine into a new bumper though, so I think it'll be easier. Which style are you going with? I think the latch system Tiregete uses is nice, with the two tractor pins, or whatever they're called.

What a great outdoor sterio idea! Replace the headlights with speakers! Wait... Oh well.

Didn't realize there was zinc on the frame. That's some potent stuff. I was welding some galvanized metal and had a real hard time with it (cause I didn't grind it first maybe?), dunno what zinc's like to weld to.

Holy LONG shackles batman!!!! ;) The shackles are in there temporary till I have time to tub the fenders. Even with em I rub. That's full flex on a hill, they have a bit of arch at rest. Sorry for the oversized pic, and, yes, one lug nut is missing, and the other is there, but for one reason or another looks completely missing. Axle wrap's kinda bad on the pack, but they still don't flex well enough. I'm hoping the added flex of removing another leaf will give me the traction to make up for the axle wrap. I'm also hoping that with the rear sitting lower, weight transfer will improve rear traction. This pack I got from the trash pile at a suspension shop. I've got no idea what they came from. I know it's something that was SUA, with a centered center hole, and I think, judging by the width, they're off a 1/2 ton. The plan is to link it when the MJ gets on the road. But also I need to get a less ticking motor in when the MJ gets on the road. Dunno which'll happen it first. Imagine the head being a sledge hammer, and the wall as my block. :wall: -
Hmmm :hmm: , my theory was exactly the opposite. I'm thinking that the extra weight I have forces the suspension to follow the terrain rather than lift a tire. I agree with Pete on this one. My thoughts are: Dump truck leaves on a Samurai won't flex for anything. The light weight of the vehicle doesn't allow the springs to flex. Adding weight, in a sense, is like creating a new spring rate, allowing the springs to flex with less effort. That's why I, personally, like to pull leaves, cause I'm not gonna add weight to my vehicle if I don't have to. I don't have enough power, gas is too expensive, and I hate high centers of gravity.

At least it's an XJ. Dime a dozen on those. The PO of my Comanche had a full size deer killing truck bumper on it with modified brackets. They ran it into cars at 30 mph. Stupid me, bought it before I found this stuff out. Looks like fun!

Ticket for bald tires or something? Hope you get around to it soon!
