WTF?

Need quick advice on an axel swap.
feerocknok replied to mfpdm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your prebent hard line that goes on your current axle will have to be rebent. I'm not sure on the e-brake workings. -
So, for manual trannies, you can just swap from the standard fluid to synthetic? I've heard dozens of times that it burns up autos.

So many people were suggesting Grands to me that I am putting them more in my line of consideration. I was the thinking last generation ('99-05?). Little features going out bugs me tons.

Cap and Rotor Corrosion
feerocknok replied to feerocknok's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We already changed the oil and it looked fine, but I'll check the tranny fluid with him on Sunday. The guy he bought it from had gotten it a year ago and the weekend he got it, he lifted it 3", but claims to have never offroaded it. He lifted it because he felt that 3" was what they should have looked like from the factory. I trusted him when he said this as he was a 52 yr old man, but accidents happen. -
Cap and Rotor Corrosion
feerocknok replied to feerocknok's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Forgot to mention that that was after we used the compressor to blow out the thick layer of yellow powder coating everything under the outside of the cap. -
What would cause this? It's on a '99 XJ that my friend bought a month ago. He decided to change the cap and rotor, and that is what he found, minus the metal tab that I believe fell out as he was pulling it. It still ran...

Where'd you get the deal on the spacers?

Glassworks 4.5" http://www.glassworksunlimited.com/shop ... 17&page=1# Hannemann 6" http://www.hannemannfiberglass.com/Prod ... F8002.html Hannemann 3" http://www.hannemannfiberglass.com/Prod ... F8001.html FiberwerX. I thought FiberwerX made some too. Might give em a call, cause I know they have stuff that's not on their site. http://www.fiberwerx.com/ 619.654.4451 The Hannemann pages have alot of pics. Just mouse over the numbers underneath the image to show the other ones. Sidenote: The Glassworks XJ, check out the exhaust on that one! Piiimp!

I think if you bought time with that girl, something would smell like dead fish.

Def agree with you there. I WILL NOT run Penzoil, and have heard some bad things about Havoline. One of the parts houses in town's house brand is re-labeled Chevron, but I don't know how common that is, so I'd always ask if I wasn't certain.

A tranny for $38?! Jeez, I need to see if my yard gets rid of em that cheap.

That first picture of the Lexus is SEX! I'll look into them for sure. My whole family is upgrading rigs right now. My dad just swapped to an '04 f-350 from an '02, mom's looking to get a new SUV from her '97 Taco, bro is looking at an '05 f-350, and I'm looking for something, still working on it. ATTN: Grand Cherokee owners! Are you guys experiencing any proplems as far as the little things go? Gauges going out, overhead consoles not staying closed?

The other Chief (Getting it ready for paint)
feerocknok replied to 1999MJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
What are the plans on this guy? Gonna go the opposite direction towards the j-truck look and lowered? -
This is how it was with old sythetics. With newer sythetics, you can apply one quart to your current oil without problems. Doing this with sythetics back some years would cause troubles, but not anymore. This is only for motor oil! Also, you're supposed to change your filter every 3000 miles, and you're supposed to change your fluid everytime you change your filter, so while sythetic Can run for more than 3000 miles, your filter shouldn't. Also, that 3000 miles is dependent on how severe the driving you do is. I just watched 18 training videos for work, so I've been learning alot about oil. I hate those videos.

I've got 8 grand into the MJ now, and it's turned out very well, but it means too much to me to drive everyday. It was a father-son project and if anything happened to it, I don't know what I'd do. Are newer Audis or Bimmers reliable? Newer Cherokees and Grands are def nicer than my old MJ, but they aren't quite what I'm looking for, but I def appreciate the suggestion. What is the Lexus?

I'm in the market for a new (to me) vehicle and I'm looking in the $12-17k range. So far my list of vehicles to look into are: '98-'01 Toyota Tacoma (pref an '01 double cab) '01-'02 Toyota 4Runner (meh) '00-'02 Audi A4 (classy) '96-'98 Land Rover Range Rover (4.6L V-8 ) I'm really undecided in which direction to go. I want something that's classy and reliable, with the fun-to-drive factor following those two things. Currently, I don't have anything to rightfully take a lady out in, or anything to take me halfway across the US on a roadtrip. I'm in no need of another pick-up, so something like a Tacoma would probably be a double cab with only a 5-ft bed. Also, classiness comes with a price tag I tend to choke on (upwards of 20k for me) Right now the Audi and Land Rover look the most appealing but I am worried about the construction quality of both as I don't know the companies. On the other side of things, I feel like I know American car manufacturers too well to purchase their products. Can anyone think of any other vehicles that might work for me? Or comments on any of the already listed vehicles? I need to get into a new rig within the month and can't even decide what to look for.

Doing a couple little things, like installing seats and getting some almost bald 33s for it would make it worth alot more. It'd go from a project into a driveable truck. Projects aren't worth much. Transportation is.

Couldn't find any pvc grommets? They were a b*@$£ to find for me...

It's so ATL gangster that I love it. Scrap the steelie though. That's not pimpin.

It'd prob be a tight fit, but it should be workable. I doubt an Optima is a large as my sub's box. I don't think you're technically supposed to have a battery in a closed cab though, cause I believe (but could be mistaken) they give off some semi-harmful fumes. As a side note, my Toyota's battery is in the cab, and I haven't had respiratory problems yet from that.

Keep in mind, many radars are only accurate to +/- 3 mph. Also, many of them aren't accurate to their target. I've heard of some going as wide as 30 feet. I knew a guy that got his wife out of a speeding ticket. She was driving next to someone speeding on a 4 lane. He saw the cop and hammered the brakes. When the cop looked up from the gun, she was going faster, while not speeding, but he assumed it was her speed. It couldn't be proven that she was speeding, it could only be assumed, so the ticket was dropped. Also, speed is always relevant to the conditions. It's not a speed limit; it's a recommended speed.

It's on Rusty's page in the F.A.Q. I believe, and RE admitted to it. They were having problems some years back with their coils sagging, so they found out Rusty's provider and went to them.
