My Emission Maintance light started coming on right when it first started getting cold. Is this something to worry about or is it normal?

Ever sence I bought my MJ it has had this problem. Some times when I start it it will rev up really high until I get it in gear, then when I clutch it it revs up again. I found recently if I push the throttle and get the rpms even higher than they are and let them fall back down it stops, but what causes this?

and even if they were mj tails one has a broken corner and they look like they've had primer sprayed on them in various places... i wold assume pick through every junk yard in my area lol

haha thats great. did you pop two holes in the can so you could leave the fuel line in there and just fill it up with ice? it would be interesting to get alot of extra fuel line and run it through a coffee can from the bottom to top all coiled against the wall (like the coil from a moonshine destilery) and then put the ice in it. it would just be cool lol -
haha a guy i worked for once bought his daughter a 69 camaro "fixer-upper", but it ended up never getting fixed mainly because he couldn't figure out how he was gunna fill in the hole were they PO had cut a sunroof in it :fs1: . i always thought that was a hoot.

yup. i've also thought about using an old backhoe engine. they do have mechanical transmissions and a shuttle shift too which would be fun for playing in the mud because you can switch from forward to back in any gear. It would be a huge job and I'm not up to the challenge but it would be really cool to see the chain drive from a skid loader geared up like a bicylcle. it wouldn't serve much of a practical purpose but it would be really cool. Back to the bachoe engine, you can also swap out the transmissions in backhoes with one from a tractor. our ford 4000 tractor has the exact same engine in it as our ford backhoe but with a different trasmission, the main difference being there's no shuttle shift. the tractor also has 4 low gears and 4 high gears plus two reverses, so that would be very fun to put in a truck. you would have two sticks like a big rig and a three cylinder deisel puttering alonge at about 55 mph :D but it would get great gas mileage. the physics of it is phenomenal. backhoes can run down the road at very high rpms and barely waste any fuel. imagine how well it could do without all that weight on it. that engine wouldn't know it was in a truck lol.

"Ram air" inlet hose for stock airbox

If my MJ were in that kind of environment, I'd invest in a snorkel. But, growing up in So Cal, and being stuck here in Norfolk (VA), my MJ doesn't go thru deep mud or water, so I'm fine with the inlet hose under the bumper. Yeah man it's highly usefull and works well for your purposes, so good job bro  -
Then it's perfect bro  I love what you did with it. I have a cousin who wrecked the back end of a pinto when it was brand new (in like '74 lol) so he cut it off at the back seats and put a bed on it. He had the bed there and couldn't afford a whole new car, so my dad told him to put that truck bed on it lol. The next time he saw it it was a pinto truck. i need pics of that like I said this was a brand new '74 pinto when this all happened, so There is absolutely no way I could find the car lol but it is a true story. I wasn't there to see it (I'm only 18 :shake: ) but my dad told me this and he wouldn't have lied about it. They do make pinto trucks from the factory though, along with pinto wagons. They may be called maverick wagons and I forgot the name of the trucks but they are prevalent in Australia and the UK if I'm not mistaken. Google them I'm sure you can find something  BTW sorry bout the thread hijacke :hijack: :dunno:

I really do understand where your coming from. When I first got the jeep every part that needed replaccing i replaced with a brand new one from the parts house. This helped me not have to replace them all agian in two weeks  I thibnk i will go ahead and do the bumper and jst wait for a good 4wd system and lift until i can afford it. I already have everything to amke the bumper  -

I'm probobly gunna weld it to the brackets first just so I don't lose the ability to remove my bumper, but my dad is one of the best welders out there :D He's good to have around. I'm an ok welder but he owns a construction business and maintains all his own equipment, so that means he is very experienced at welding backhoe buckets and bull dozer blades and he's also very good at light stuff. I wish I could say the same for myself but the biggest welding jobs ive ever done without his supervision were lowrider bicycles and things like that lol. I've stil got alot to learn but I think ive got a good start :D When I make my new bumper i think I'm going to strip down the old one and put the liscense plate lights and liscense plate holder on it. but i'm not gunna leave the hitch ball on the bumper. I hate that thing. I'm guna put a hitch reciever under my truck at some point. I have two sitting out back so that won't be an issue. I just basically plan to have a round bumper on the back and put a flat piece of diamond checked steel on top of it on each side and probobly a tow loop on each side. I may do a loop of chain on each side instead of the traditional D shaped loops, or just a chain hook on each side. any suggestions? -

how much money did that take? if you don't mind me asking. -
your fine man it's nice to get to know the people i post with so much

the leaking master cylinder would be right above your fuse box. you would notice it leaking on your carpet on the inside and all over your shoes if you take your foot off the clutch and set it the the side (messed up a pair of my nikes :fs1: ). It's something that really needs checking because the brake fluid will literally melt your fuses and make nothing on your truck work.

Do you mean disk brakes are an option? because my D44 rear axle has drum brakes...
