Contest time for pics of the most Independence decorated Jeep. Our good neighbors to north and south of our borders are invited to the craziness.

The mechanic said he spoke with someone he uses that rebuilds alternators to have increased capacity. I raised the issue that someone here had investigated that but the housing was not large enough. Will see how this goes.

I had new factory ac put in an 89MJ , 4.0 (it just turned 90K miles) that never had ac. Before having that done, I had a larger battery installed. I also asked the CC if I would need a larger alternator. The consensus was maybe not. Readings on the existing alternator were long blurred away. It was thought that if the alternator failed, it would not do damage if it did. With that knowledge, I did not replace the existing alternator. I had no trouble for over a year and a half. Now with the coronavirus I drive the MJ on short trips of less than 10 miles and that is not adequate to keep the battery up. Soooo, I am going to replace the alternator with the biggest output available but I understand that there is a space issue with a bigger one. A couple of years ago, the following alternator was recommended. Is this still good and up to date information? Notice the link states it is for a 2.5 (unknown if that same one fits a 4.0) Also, evidently some wiring might need to be up sized? You do not need a voltage regulator. Very impressive. You did all the work yourself?! You obviously have the skills, patience and determination to have seen the task through. As fine as it looks, I am most curious about that paint job; show quality. Did you do that yourself? I would have trouble parting ways with it but I fully understand your not wanting to see it become a victim of salt spray. Maybe someone in a dry climate will buy it. What are you thinking for a next build after you move?

I want to have an 87 painted like this. Does anyone know if the black and grey along the bottom of the door is black and grey paint OR grey tape on black paint? Was this a new truck offering? Does anyone know if fender flares and front bumper corners were grey all the way through or grey paint over black material? Will grey paint over black material hold up? Thanks in advance to those in the know. The houses look like this could be in Europe so not sure if this was offered in North America or not. Not looking for what is shown below

Why did you sell it?

Did you make a copy of the seller's title when you bought the truck? CarFax can take you back some years. The build sheet may disclose the zone and state. My 89 did. The 87 did not. I googled the name on title of the seller and found details. If you bought from dealer, they do not title in the dealership name. The title will give the name of the prior owner. A little detective work will take you back.
