  1. Awesome work! I wish I had your motivation. I know your in PA but would you mind coming down to VA to help me with my swap?
  2. Ok that is a good visualization. Looks like all that metal needs to be removed. Especially since Rustys has that uniframe tie in bracket that runs about a 1' down the outboard side of the uniframe.
  3. Take a heat gun and gently bend them in to shape. That may help out
  4. So I'm thinking of doing a Rusty's 6.5" long arm kit on my 89' but while inspecting the body side LCA mounts, I noticed they were different from an XJ's. They look like they have more support on the outboard sides. So, my question is, when it comes time to hack all that off, will everything still be structurally sound. There is quite a bit of material to remove is all. Also, if anybody has pictures they can share of their undersides I would appreciate it!
  5. Porche aqua blue, huh? I'm definitely stealing that color for my MJ! I might have to take a vacation to the virgin islands just to see this truck. Looks great man. Definitely gives me inspiration for my build!
  6. I hate getting to the end of a build thread only to find out that the owner is going to sell. Do what you must though. Good luck! You at least gave me some ideas for my MJ project!
  7. Awesome thread! I'm getting ready to tackle this job myself and I'm a bit nervous. This helps ease my tensions a little. BTW, where do yo get the fuel tank w/o a slosh pan? and maybe I missed it but the adapter ring for the XJ sending unit?
  8. Looks good man! Put that headliner in a box and mail it to me! I'll buy it
  9. damn! That was a nice 2 door XJ. wanna sell whats left? I'm in charlottesville va. Heck you can help me with my 89-99 swap just ride on down here.
  10. Its good to see the Montana Franklin in your pics. I used to spend a lot of time there when I lived in El Paso. Great build and "Jessica" is looking good! keep it up!
  11. awesome build! I also like that rear bumper (jcr correct?). keep up the good work!
  12. First off, I didn't even know they made replacement cowl panels for comanches. Secondly, I've never seen rust that bad in the cowl of an MJ. That takes guts to do especially for a novice! Good work! Keep on keepin' on! I'll be following this...
  13. Ended up going with a non-cad d30 fro the swap. i think i'll be fine for a while with this. thanks for your input.
  14. Hey i'm in Va too! clean looking truck you got there. i like the blue color of yours. Might have to paint mine that color. I assume you finished the lift? after all it was 2 years ago.
  15. Noooo!!! you can't sell it! I just read through this entire thread only to find this? JK! you gotta do what you gotta do. I have a quick question though. when swapping for the newer doors did you use the original hinges or swap the 98' hinges?
  16. That's a great looking winch bumper. I think you need to add some "delta's" to the doors. give it that operation desert storm look
  17. So, I'm swapping all my internals from my 89 renix Comanche to the 93 HO Cherokee. Will I need to swap out the old renix fuel sending unit for the Cherokees sending unit or what? How does this work?
  18. Man, I never thought I'd say this but, seeing El Paso again kinda makes me miss it. I was stationed there for 3 years at Ft. Bliss. Never found any descent wheeling trails. We always went out to red sands and that was kinda boring, no difficulty. Found all the gentleman's clubs though! Nice looking Comanche by the way!
  19. Haha! Tankers support the infantry along with everyone else and I certainly hope any Rangers don't see that! Nice Comanche!
  20. Looks promising! on a side note though...you said you wanted to do this project without cutting corners but you followed it up with "bondo/fiberglass on the rockers". Don't skimp out on this area, replace the rockers with fresh metal or pieces cut out of a donor truck. You'll thank yourself later that you did. Keep it up!
  21. So which one is this? The $55.00 one? Or the one currently out of stock
  22. I have a turn signal issue myself with my 89 MJ. The right side lights up but does not blink. The left side is blinking normally like it should. I've replaced the big silver relay? on the fuse block but it did not help as well as fuses. Maybe thats a socket issue too. So i'm guessing you just pull the socket out cut it then replace it?
  23. I just want to use it for mild trail riding and some rocks. Tires will be no bigger than 35"
  24. So first off, if this isnt the place for questions of this sort please redirect me and second, I have a 89 MJ and I want to swap the axles. My question is should I use the newer style stock axles out of a cherokee that does not use the vaccuum actuated thingy? It seems like a weak point to me but i've never owned an MJ/XJ that had this style of axle. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
