Battery Tray Reinforcement Plate
mikekaz1 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
good info as mine is rotted almost completely under the tray. glad to know they actually make a replacement part for it -
can you post a picture, that would help describe it a little easier. I am unaware of an extra bracket from new vs old header, but a picture might help memory

I run whatever's on the shelf for the cheapest price. I always end up blowing something so I end up doing a forced change every year or so anyways

1995 4.0 Fuel injection to carb
mikekaz1 replied to Jeepjeff859's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Forgive my ignorance, why would you need to change the distributor for a carb set up? Isn't the fact its mechanically driven off the crank mean it will always be "intune" with the cylinders? -
Looks like a road trip is in order , what do I need to get in the tunnel(s) ? Field trip, everyone aboard

Full bench (non cutout) in 5 speed mj
mikekaz1 replied to WNY-J24's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just curious on why you want the straight front bench so badly? Compared to the notched one. I can't imagine there's any noticeable difference other then aesthetic OCD. -
Napa has a whole shelf of battery cables

blower motor is in your engine bay, on the passage side firewall, 3 bolts, normally rusty, 8mm I think

wj are 5 on 5 and your 5 on 4.5. you need to run conversion spacers to use WJ/JK rims. and they bump you out like ~2"

well the red one pictured IS a real vehicle, not Photoshop. I'm not sure what reinforcements they made to the body, but apparently it was possible.

Did you read Doc's first post that started this thread? Doc wants to cut the Comanche in half. Extend it just enough to use the doors from a 2 door XJ. Bingo!! 2 door extended cab Comanche. Keep stock bed, either 6 ft or 7 ft. not what I was getting to, I was talking about for a 4 door chassis, use a 4 door front door (mj factory door) and a 2 door for a rear door minus the front vent window. as that would theoretically solve the awkward rear door body line and stationary 1/4 window

noooooooo

That right there might be the winner!Yeah I had a little bit of an forhead slap moment and thought to my self "doh why has nobody thought of this"
-
oooooorrrrrr use a 2 door main window and frame. which would be ~6" longer window and thus no need to use the angled vent window at all!
-
i give huge respect to whoever did this, as they did a fantastic job. i like the double cab long bed work truck idea but i just don't get the feel from it.. i think its length to height proportions are just off, if they put a nice 2 or 3 in lift and say 31's on this i think its overall appearance would skyrocket. just like how there are stock height differences between a 1500 and 3500, i think this truck is missing that aspect. here's my crude attempt at making it higher i also feel like another visual issue is the back of the rear door, as the angles conflict greatly. i don't have the photoshop skills to do it, but i feel like if you mirrored the rear window, (swapped window positions) since the main window is almost a perfect square you would match the rear angle and the small window would then come alot closer to the front window angle also.

thank you!

These won't ever be perfect, id give them the 20/20. Good from 20ft or 20mph. As you'll obviously never perfectly mimic the original lens as those are molded together and this would just be under it. So there is a deeper lip around the light vs edge compared to stock. And working around the exposed screw holes has proven a little complex and not too user friendly
-
Yeah you would just use red bulbs. And Ram/Dakota lens are shaped completely differently. You would not be able to use them.
-
Ah knew you had to have some trick up your sleeve
-
so here's what i got so far, nothings attached or perfected yet, but have everything mocked ontop of each other. went with 1/8" acrylic glass for the lens, and used a heat gun to mold it to the correct shape, i still need to get some rotary bits to do some precision grinding/trimming inside the lens' to get the acrylic to sit perfectly flush against them

hm... i swore i read somewhere they were all photoshops based on the 2 door, owell in any event, doesn't really matter

Very nice! Those floors are beautiful!

This is ideal IMO. All the dimensions come out really nice and it seems factory put together. Plus the most useful storage space & more leg room. well this is just a 2 door Cherokee with a black line drawn behind the "cab" to imitate a bed gap, and has the upper window edited out. thus why the bed looks tiny. I do like the concept of using the 2 door rear vent window in the back tho, similar to the ranger and s10s of the day. all in all I really like the look of the black "2door" Comanche posted above. with the factory cab back and long doors. I wish they based them on that form the factory, although in hindsight I'm glad they didn't because the doors in general are that much harder to find.

https://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&client=ms-android-att-us&source=android-browser&q=s10+blazer+tire+carrier#imgrc=MNLybP6JaVpUbM%3A Possible s10 blazer would work. Both have similar tail light angles

factory swing away mirrors
mikekaz1 replied to mikekaz1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hmm everyone I've seen in person is much larger then these, and many online spots don't post dimensions so I could never tell on those
