1. Should I just go to a junkyard and pull off the steering from a zj? No. The only difference is a slightly stronger tie rod (and that's only on the V8 models). It really isn't much of an upgrade. I've seen them bend just as easy as stock XJ rods. As was stated above, the entire stock XJ steering is weak when you go offroad. There are a bunch of companies who make nice 1 ton set-ups. They come with heavy duty TREs and heavy duty drag link and tie rod. You ream out your knuckles and bolt up the new stuff. It's pretty simple, a whole lot stronger, and only costs a couple hundred bucks. He mostly drives on the road, with very little actual offroading. The v8 tie rod is a hell of a lot stronger than the stock xj/mj setup. http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/11060.html This is the OTK 1ton steering i got, If you want i can run over & show you it in person. It's fine I've seen it before. I don't have the money for it right now but maybe for Christmas present I'll ask

3. When y'all say upgrade steering, are we talking like one ton OTK, that sort of stuff? I don't know a whole lot about steering parts and what's needed. For this 8.8 swap and lift I got a new adjustable track bar but it's going to be stock other then that

5. I don't know how you've survived so long without one. I barely ever wheel and Ive already used mine a ton! looks good. I need to upgrade my warn with some synthetic rope.
6. If i had the money i woulve geared it all to 4.56s but the 8.8already had 4.10s so i left them in there.
7. I'm going SOA with an 8.8 here this weekend or next Heading up to Sumas on the 28th btw. Thanks, but I'll be gone. I might be doing the swap this weekend but it depends if my shocks get her in time
8. I'm going SOA with an 8.8 here this weekend or next
9. Ya that's what I've heard. I guess I'll stay wh some 33s
10. Just a few questions for y'all that have been in the back of my head, but now that I'm finally able to do my 8.8 swap id thought id ask. Will my comanche be able to handle 35s with 4.10s? Will it drive ok? Would the steering be too weak off road? Or should I just go with some 33s? Should I get adjustable upper and lower control arms ASAP or will it be fine? thanks oh and also, is there any cheaper way to rig up a 4wd linkage then the Novak conversions kit? Ive seen homemade stuff but never for a np 231
11. I did the injectors as well and my rpm seemed to go up a tad too but nothing much
12. I replaced almost everything in my cooling system and it still over heated until I got a aluminum bottle with a really tight cap. Never gotten more then 180 since then. This is what I would get and is what I have: http://macsradiatorshop.com/surge-overflow-tanks/replacment-jeep-radiator-fill-tanks-366.html Edit: I had a brand new radiator and it still got up to 230 until o got that
13. Most guys around here piece together their lifts. There is no really good one stop shop for a MJ lift. The Zone kit is missing a LOT of parts to do a lift correctly. My advice is to build your own. When I said that I was trying trying to help at. I've heard most people say they like zone better. I'm just doin the Alexia lift and I would recommended that if he's wanting to go SOA
14. Most guys says go with eh Zone Off-road 4.5 lift. Rough Country is usually decent, but I haven't liked them in my experience. Plus the zone kit is only a few $$$ more. http://zoneoffroad.com/zone-offroad-products-4-4.5in-suspension-lift-kit-jeep-comanche/j29
15. I guess I'll just give it a good helping if rtv
16. I can get the weld out, but then, what do i do? I tried getting the weld out with the torch and it worked good but I'm left with an ugly deformed hole. I saw some guys just put a nut down in there too.
17. So a while ago I stripped the highest bolt on the diff so I drilled out the hole and tap in a bigger bolt. Well this weekend I didn't like how it looked becuase it was kind of crooked and looked like it didn't go all the way in. so I drilled the hole a little deeper and put new threads in. Well the tap snapped off it there. I've tapped many things before and never had a problem like that. After countless runs to the hardware store, I ended up having to blow it out with the acetylene torch. The whole was then messy from the torch so I heated the housing up to 400 degrees and welded up The hole. Then I started to drill a new hole but my bits wouldn't have it. I then called the shop and they said that it's too hard to drill and they can't do It. What should I do? The guys at the hardware store thought it'd be ok to do that. Should I just load a lot of rtv in there? Thanks and it seems like I'm always making retarded mistakes
18. When I did my swap I had to move the cross member back a few inches so it would fit where those other holes are and then I drilled and tapped new threads into the holes. Then I threaded in some bolts and it's worked great so far.
19. I love these. I wish I had the money http://bellingham.craigslist.org/cto/5290443818.html
20. What is that black stuff you used around the edges of the bed after you cut them?
21. Will 1/4 be enough for mounting tabs or should I go with 3/8?
22. Ya I'm going to work on it so more and add some tie ones and mock up the frame mounts
23. I just made this on sketch up. First time 3d modeling. The dimensions aren't perfect but this is what i want to build. I'm trying to keep my truck nice and protected without going full on cage and stuff like that. Any body have any ideas about this? thanks ">http:// ">http://http://s1148.photobucket.com/user/Jackrabbit123/media/IMG_4704_zpsq1oeqrkz.jpg.html'>
24. Ya I might need ya, just need to find the money for the last 2 shocks then i got everything. Also, tonight I started messing around with Sketch 3d, a 3d modeling program and started build a rear bumper on it, but then discovered that I can look at other peoples projects and I found and downloaded a couple comanches. Pretty cool never done this before.
25. No, but luckily the shop fixed it for free, so i got new spiders for free! I guess it ended out ok for me
