I wanna start by saying this is my first Comanche. ive had other 4x4s but this one has really hit a special place in my heart. its nice driving something that not alot of people have and have seen. Ive been asked a few times why i cut the top on my Cherokee? It is gonna be a slow build. this is a daily driver and she has many quirks but i'll figure them out one by one.

front diff solenoid?
dustyinthedirt replied to dustyinthedirt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
here's a little Comanche porn for you for helping me out! i knew i seen a post somewhere i just couldnt find it!! Buckwheat you may have saved me! OTAY! -
So the comanche decided to take a little time off during the snow. i had it in four wheel low backing out of my drive way got all the way to the road and the front wheels quit spinning leaving us in the middle of a road. The front drive shaft is spinning but the wheels are not turning. I did not hear a pop. I still have automatic hubs. (hoping its not a vacuum line, if its like my old Chevy) could there be a solenoid froze? we do have 14'' of snow on the ground. any help is much appreciated. i will be checking this mutliple times today since i can't really go anywhere

the e brake pedal may be a lost cause. a working e brake pedal are few and far between in a MJ. have you thought about installing a hand lever ebrake?

Gauge cluster illumination
dustyinthedirt replied to dustyinthedirt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i will check these this evening when i get home. thanks guys -
the illumination on my cluster hasnt worked since i put the new cd player in. i figure i forgot a wire on the cd player since the past owner cut the harness out and i had to straight wire it in. but i don't see a wire i missed. also when i press the brake the right turn signal lights up on the dash. and on the front of the truck. this has been happening since before i got the jeep. its doesnt flash just illuminates the little arrow and the marker lights. not sure how to fix that ether. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fuse box issues
dustyinthedirt replied to dustyinthedirt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thanks guys! -
so the time has come to replace my fuse box. when i bought my truck the P.O. said the clutch reservoir was leaking. when i inspected it of course it was leaking down on the fuse box. no clue how long this had been going on. also the P.O. had put bigger watt fuses in most of the fuse box. now i have to check to be sure my brake lights are actually working every so often because there will be residue on the fuse and won't let it make a good connection. just the other day the turn signals quit working checked the fuse and the metal connectors the fuse sits against two of them where missing. along with a few other fuse slots melted. what i am looking for is somebody to tell me if i can use a fuse box out of a Cherokee? i know that from the doors forward they are the same but i wasnt sure about the fuse box. Also how much of a pain in the rear is this going to be to change?

top two transmission bolts
dustyinthedirt replied to dustyinthedirt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
they ended up being the E12 torx. i used two ten inch extenstions with a wobbler then one more ten inch extenstion and one more three inch extenstion. i had to use a long stick to control the socket. all those extenstions put me in line with the trans and T/C. just loosen your motor mounts and use a jack under you T/C to lower it down a bit and you should be able to see them. BE CAREFUL!!! i have read they are easy to strip. just go slow and take your time.- 22 replies

No clutch pressure.
dustyinthedirt replied to Krome_Dome's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
mine did the same thing but i didnt lose any fluid so that rules out a line blowing out. i figured it was the slave cylinder since i had replaced to fluid resivor on it about a month ago. i am installing the clutch and bolting the trans back up tomorrow. i will let you know if that fixed my problems. you could just have air in the lines though also. i was getting air in my lines from somewhere. the clutch just wouldnt have any pressure sometimes. -

Clutch Pedal Goes to the floor!
dustyinthedirt replied to benjy_26's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My master was leaking a while back and i exchanged it and after that it would lose pressure every once and a while, i would pump it and the pressure came back. till one day it didnt and it would fluid would be full of bubbles. is it because i didnt bench bleed it properly? i tried to bench bleed it but i'm not sure i did it right -
