  1. I think that's the kit I used.

  3. I had a stumbling issue at stops on my 2.5. I used a BWD gasket kit and fuel pressure regulator from Oreillys and it solved that issue for the most part. I think it's in their catalog as a TBI rebuild kit.
  4. That makes a lot of sense. Aren't the 4.3's basically just a chopped down 5.7? The trucks I'm eyeballing have the MPFI conversion already done, if I'm not mistaken. They should be good to go assuming the transmission is in good condition, right?
  5. BTW, is there a reason why S10 guys like their 2.8's but the Heeps that came with that same engine are generally looked down upon?
  6. Hello all. Recently, I have come across the need for a vehicle that has an automatic transmission, has 4wd, is simple to work on, and is cheap enough to not feel too bad about beating on it a bit. My first inclination is to pick up anpther Jeep, maybe a late model XJ or some sort of WJ. Looking in my area, anything with "Jeep" on it goes for WAY too much over what it's really worth. I have seen a few ZR2 Blazers and S10 pickups for the right price and in decent condition. What are y'all's thoughts/experiences with these vehicles? One positive that I can see in them is that they're Chevys, and parts are EVERYWHERE.
  7. If your maintenance is up to date, a MJ can handle anything you throw at it. I'm an archaeologist in the Southwestern US and use my MJ as my field vehicle. This means long interstate drives combined with rough service roads and forays into the desert for weeks at a time. I have seen newer, more "sophisticated" vehicles have issues while my SporTruck keeps chugging along.
  8. I had to do this to get my 2.5's exhaust manifold back on. I spoke to a mechanic friend about it and apparently it's common enough to see manifold warp slightly that there's a tool out there to spread them back out.
  9. The LCA's from a ZJ are the same as MJ/XJ ones. I think you have a pair of WJ arms.
  10. I don't know when the switch was made, but I do know that my brother's 2.5 XJ has an external slave cylinder.
  11. I have had a Yellow Top for over 8 years (has gone from Jeep to Jeep) and it's running strong. That said, when it does die, I'm going to go to Oreilleys to get one of their AGM series batteries. I read somewhere that Deka makes those for SuperStart and Deka gets great reviews everywhere. Also, the one I've been seeing is going for around $180, which is much more palatable than the $250 Optima wants for their product.
  12. That's a lot of complexity and cash wasted just to have a goofy looking Comanche.
  13. My 2wd 87 SporTruck with 3.55's and AX4 gets the same MPG's on the highway as my brother's 4wd 95 SE XJ with a AX5 and 4.10's. We both get roughly about 22-23mpg on the highway. I'm rolling on 31x10.50 BFG KO's with a 3" lift and he's got 255/70r15 General Grabber AT2's on a budget boosted front end. If it MUST be a Jeep, I'd say look for a XJ with the 2.5. They'll be newer and, compared to my MJ at least, more comfortable.
  14. If the short block looks good, I'd be tempted to just gwt the head re-done and roll it as-is.
  15. Isn't the subframe the same on 2dr and 4dr xj's?
  16. Two issues got adressed today: 1. Broken passenger side turn signal. 2: Got rid of the Arizona rake.
  17. Most DOHC engines are WIDE. Too bad it didn't fit.
  18. Sorry. Can't help you bud. I love my brother's 2dr XJ too much. The front leg room is awesome compared to my MJ.
  19. Spyderco makes great stuff. I've been eyeing their Matriarch for a while now. It just looks wicked.
  20. Good deal! I've been using a Lansky Blade Medic pocket sharpener, but it doesn't give a really fine edge. I'll have to look into that system, Pete. BTW, have you looked into the Khukuris from Khukuri House? Holy smokes....
  21. That looks CLEAN. Love the license plate mount.
