Big rigs cover part of their radiators in cold weather, so the radiator doesn't overcool the engine. I never had an XJ/MJ that needed that, but it sounds like you are overcooling. You could try some cardboard in front of one side of your radiator. I'd cover some of the drivers side and see what happens.

Yep, gotta love it. Did you see all those poor saps crying in the Bronx? :clapping: I'm liking the Tigers for the AL champs now. They should handle the Rangers with their superior pitching. So long as Nolan doesn't come out of retirement and suit up. :D Either team in the WS makes me happy, but I'd rather see Texas there. (besides, I don't think Detroit could stand the riots if they won ;) )

 The original tarp on my first car port biodegraded like that. It took 4-5 years, but one snowfall, the snow won. :ack: Thanks. :D It's really fun to camp in & use And VMart goes on to play Beltre in the ALCS. (pretty quiet crowd tonight in da bronx)

If you are talking about the slide in silencers, they're easy, and they can't hurt. :dunno:

Isn't Government awesome? All the people involved in the child support system have great things to say of their amazing efficiency as well. Amazing that people are calling for MORE government control of things (Banks, Wall Street) lately. Government intervention, Yep, that's what will fix it.

Horrible horrible horrible. for me, losing Tito is worse than not making the playoffs, All water under the bridge tho now, but I've never seen the wheels come off a bus this bad before. 50 feet from the finish line, the wheels came off, we hit a tree, rolled twice, went off a cliff, then exploded. :ack: No injury excuses this year tho, other than Buc, none should have been deal breakers (like last year). Oh well, sad that the team with almost all the hitting records & production for the year has pitching that looks good on paper, while producing some of the worst numbers in the league, and is sitting home in October. :( only good note for the year, with VMart playing for the Tigers, and Beltre on the Rangers, I have two teams left to root for.

if I could meet one Comanche Club member, no question about it, it would be you Jim! Hope your head is OK.

Well, time to put the Grampa-Campa away for the winter. The paint is already pretty faded, didn't want it getting any worse, so I made a simple wood frame: got an 11'4" x 15'6" tarp, and wrapped it up like a giant birthday present: hopefully it'll look a little better once the wrinkles go away, but here it is in all it's W.T. glory: Whatdaya think, OK, or O-crap? Sorry for the crappy resolution, I tried texting cell phone pics to Photobucket... doesn't work so great.

Good luck! next time i bet they'll list it as either a Hyundai, or a Schwinn.

Ha! Alright, which one of you was the angry Comanche guy?

Thanks Mudtruck87! (a little late I know ;) ) comancheap, I'll see if I can dig out some better pics of the tires, no spacers were used, tho they'd probably be a good idea on the rear (rear axle is ~1.5" narrower than stock). I'd snap new pics, but the truck is jammed in the tarp-garage, next to the javelin right now, not much room to work on it, or snap pictures. No real updates worth mentioning, I'm about 1/2 way through a pile of other work to do before I can get back to the toy. :(

It's always good to know who you can trust at work, and who you can't. :fs2: In any job. It's looking good, Good luck

Loading up with fuel after warmed up...???

 Glad you got it. Renix's are great when they work, but can be a huge PITA to diagnose sometimes. (I've been chasing a part throttle stumble in my 88' for a while now). -
Upgrade or Downgrade? Calling all computer-literate.

I've had zero DC connector issues with my Toshiba's Tim, I just pulled out the A215 (full model # is A215-S4807) to check, DC plug seems as solid as ever. (= room to wiggle it some, but all three of these newer machines felt like that from day one) I've seen other computers have that problem, but I don't think I've ever had a machine do that. The best design is where the computer case supports the plug, and the connections are be made with wires, and a quick connect. But it would cost the manufacturer an extra 75 cents per machine to build like that. ;) I've been horrible with my newest lappy (T235-S1370). It's towards the lower end of this compact (no DVD) Toshiba chassis, but it does everything I need, and it's super light. I swapped in an OCZ SSD so I can toss the thing around, and it has a bunch of scratches & gouges to show for that. I'll let you know if/when I kill it. :hateputers: I forgot to mention battery life in my first post, all the Toshiba's batteries turn to crap eventually. The 10 year olds won't even hold a charge for 5 minutes. The A215 is getting pretty bad (45 minutes). Seems all lappies do that, especially when left plugged in constantly. These two new machines are less than a year old, and the batteries are still great. They both spend more time off the cord, than on, so hopefully that'll stretch a little more life out of them. -
Cool! Looks like someone spent a lot of time & energy building that. Any interior pics (sleeping area, etc). Where there was mold/mildew starting on the wood of the Granpa-Campa, I sprayed it down with a mixture of bleach & water, then left it out in the sun to dry. It turned most of the black spots lighter brown. I also bought some Borax to try on it too, but never got around to that part. Good luck, it looks like some of the plywood could use a little reinforcing after all these years, but it looks like a fun project.

Bought my first Toshiba in 2001, this is my 5th, all still work. Two are ancient 10 year old 1415's (one is now the shop computer, the other handed down to my 7 year old), Our main home computer is a 4 year old A215, The machine I'm on now is a T235 and my GF's Toshiba is an L655. The A215 has a dead DVD drive, and my son's 1415 has bad hinges. Before that, the 1415 had been so dust packed it would only run 5 minutes at a time. Since cleaning it out, it has been 100% ok. Other than that, no issues. In that same time, We've had two Acer's (a full size & an Acer ONE netbook): both wireless cards failed. Two ancient K6 Compaq's: one failed mother board, tho the other still works @ 13 years old (swapped processor, overclocked, and still extremely slow) And two 9" ASUS EEE Netbooks: Both had their SSD's abruptly quit, and need reformatting/OS reinstallation more than once. Both had keyboards go insane and need to be replaced. Both are quirky, and sometimes suddenly freak out over an SD card being installed (wouldn't start till I popped it out), or start hating a memory card that had been installed for months and months (wouldn't start till I changed it). -
Pics of Champion Radiator: Temp sensor threaded in till it hit trans cooler inside radiator:

I had that same problem on the lower coolant line with the aluminum FFD radiator I put in, but was able to bend the flare nut elbow adapter a little tighter with my tubing bender till it cleared. Also, the welded-on male flare fitting for the upper coolant hose was one size smaller than the flare nut on the coolant line, so I had to rework that too. Did the Champion radiator have this problem also Jim? You would think they could get these things right before they manufactured them......... Both my Champion radiator and the trans cooling lines used AN fittings, too bad the radiator fittings were both a smaller size than the lines. I considered adapters, but they would've moved the fittings out too far away from the radiator. I REALLY wanted to drop the radiator in without modifying anything, but I ended up cutting both lines (used the rubber hose trick :( ), and cutting a chunk out of the sheetmetal to fit the line. On the sub 40k mile Grandpa MJ :wall:  Originally, I did get the radiator in place by modifying the lower line coming out of the radiator, but it was directly pushing against the sheet metal. A week of worrying about wearing a hole, or stress crack in the hardline led me to pulling the radiator out, and chopping some sheet metal out of the way.

I get why your asking, but this subject is usually a bad idea on a public forum, especially with so many details. Just a touchie subject for some authority figures. Good luck, I hope you find a way to get what you need, but I would delete this thread.

Thanks, that helps. At least I know they sent the ones they had intended to. Did your MPG get better? How about power, better, worse, or no noticeable difference? My biggest concern is if these 'upgrade' injectors are only rated at 18.25lb @43.5psi, they'll only flow 17.3lbs @ our 39psi. Compared to stock Renix 18.6lbs & 91-95 HO's 21lbs @ 39psi. (they list them as fitting 87-95 4.0L's) Stock Jeep injector specs: http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/tech_specs.html

I did this too, but had to chop a little sheetmetal due to the location of the Champion Radiator's lower auto trans cooler line (interfered with the sheetmetal on that side). Also, the early 4.0L temperature sensor wouldn't mount to the radiator. The Champion radiator had a bung for it, but there wasn't enough depth to screw in the sending unit. I left the early 4.0L expansion tank mounted at the firewall for now, I mostly wanted the newer style radiator for ease of filling. Oh, and the cool looking checkered flag radiator cap they include free didn't work so great with the XJ upper radiator support. Since I still have the early expansion tank, I swapped on a higher psi cap (Durango/Dakota application). All complaints aside, The Champion Radiator was great, all aluminum, 3 core, nicely built & finished for around $200.

Not sure what you mean by a DIY Tonneau cover, do you mean make your own tonneau frame & x-bars, then cut a vinyl cover to fit? If you were going to all that trouble, better to just shop craigslist till you find something cheap, and close in size to make work. Some of the Ford/Chevy covers are pretty close in size. (I forget which, but this topic comes up every month, or so).

Also, the flow sheet list I got with them lists all injectors at 210cc @ 43.5psi (3 bar), not 192cc I still hate to complain, since I got these for a very (very) good price, very (very) quickly shipped, and they should work well in my application, but I'm gonna dig a little deeper anyway.... fiatslug87, I'd rather not mention the seller's name, but did you happen to check the part number on yours? Thanks, Jimmy.

Thanks! Lol, I'm finding out how much I DON'T know about injectors today. Looks like the stock Renix injectors are rated anywhere from 18.5lbs to 22+, this page kind of sums it up: http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/sho ... hp?t=92236 These grey Fords seem to be rated at 18.25-19lbs/192-210cc depending where I look. (oops they are not Fords, more below) This is for a stock Renix 4.0L, so I'm looking for a better spray pattern, without leaks more than I am looking for max flow, but I am still interested in knowing what I bought.
