NEW OEM Tail gate on EBAY
jpnjim replied to Bhfear's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Not picking on the guy..... but if you check his history, his feedback of 1 is for buying this: :jump: I think he'd fit in well here. -
Decent find, I never see these on Craigslist anymore. FWIW, The red one in the background is a 72 or 71 (full width taillight, T-top style indents in roof) : The one in front is a 73/74 (73/74 grille, flat 73/74 roofline/full vinyl top)

NEW OEM Tail gate on EBAY

:( In the end, I guess it's only 'stuff', and selling/parting out is better than..... dumpster  But seems kinda crappy that the guy's pile of parts never made it into a finished RIP. -
Ahh, potential co-workers; :fs2: :thwak: :fs1: ^^^ ;) :D

Very Very Nice! Your front end tube work, rear tube work, and tail lights are things of beauty! Angling the lights like that really works for me. Is that just sheetmetal blanking off the old tail light openings, or did you form some heavier plate to fit. Sweet truck, thanks for posting it up.   -
BREAKING NEEWWWZZZZZ ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111ONE Run fur yur lives!!!!!!! http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/my ... 43870.html 6X96xI1gLdQ :jump: Interesting find, but I figured I'd throw this one out to some of the analytical (and less than analytical) minds here @ CC. What do you think? (if you haven't seen it before, best bet is to watch it with the volume down the first time, then decide).

Interesting story! I wonder if that was normal, or if there was some slowdown at Kenosha (engine plant). 9 months for the next available engine sounds like a long time to me. If they got preferential treatment, no wonder XJ's always outsold YJ's & TJs. They say the reason Explorers always outsold all the other competition wasn't that they were better, or in higher demand, it's just that no one could match Ford's production capacity.
-
They didn't want to put the $$ into designing an extended cab, being unibody made that retooling cost even higher than normal. Extended cabs were where the profit margins were, profits are in options & extra's, and barely anyone wanted a luxury regular cab. Even as base models Comanche's cost more than the other compact/midsize P/U's, another disadvantage. Cherokee's had a very high profit margin, were generally ordered with tons of options, so every Comanche built meant room for one less Cherokee to be built (like whowey said). By the 1990's, the only thing limiting Cherokee sales was their production ability. That's why the Grand Cherokee outsold the Cherokee from day one, the ZJ's brand new state of the art Jefferson plant could crank out ZJ's almost 3:1 compared to XJ's. It makes sense to either support, or kill the MJ, but the two things that still p!ss me off about it are: they were able to keep the little imported rebadged Mitsubishi Ram50 around for one year longer than the MJ and years later, after NOT allowing Jeep to get their own versions of the Ram, or the Dakota, for fears of cross competition, they let Mitsubishi have their own restyled Dakota (Mitsu Raider) to sell/compete with.

union electrician kinda surprising all the union help here driving 20+ year old, orphaned, extinct, regular cab pickups with roll up windows! Guess some of us aren't as overpaid as they say lol

I popped the glass out myself so I could cut off the trim studs & prep/treat any rust. Getting the glass out was a pain, and there wasn't any real rust to worry about.

Blown ignition module?: 1998 XJ
jpnjim replied to jpnjim's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah, It's probably a holdover from my AMC V8 days: external oil pump = loooong time between "put-put-broooomm brooommm", and oil pressure coming back. If it ends up being a smoked module, my days of doing it to 4.0L's will be over (or I will atleast take one of the above suggestions) Thanks to all so far  sooooo, who else cranks their engine after an oil change, before starting? -
Blown ignition module?: 1998 XJ
jpnjim replied to jpnjim's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright, I get it. Everyone here is smarter than me  ;) I haven't had time to play with this today, I'll let everyone know how bad I screwed it up as soon as I know. (thanks for the suggestions so far  ) -
Even though I've heard it a million times "don't crank your engine with the coil disconnected, or you'll fry your ignition module" That's exactly what I do every time I change my oil (to pump some new oil up before starting it) Fastforward 24 years of doing this (dozens of times with OBDII Jeeps).... and guess what, I pulled the plug wire like always, and when I put the coil wire back on... no love :( It cranks forever, but doesn't start. Before I dig out my FSM & multi meter to test the thing, as anyone killed the ignition module on an HO or OBDII Jeep doing what I did?

Thank you for the kind words :( Lenny worked as a mechanic, and would think nothing of driving an hour to show a friend how to save 15minutes on some part install. No matter what you were working on, he'd always have some small tip, or idea to make it go quicker. Literally a sweet guy that would never hurt a soul. I'm still getting details on exactly what happened, but it looks like he had run an errand to the store for one of his 4 daughters Sunday night, collapsed in the parking lot, and did not recover. :( Thanks again guys, your words really do help.

I don't think anyone here knew rc4whlr/Lenny memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=24662 since he mostly just lurked, but since he was a member I thought his passing was worth a mention here. :( He was just 37, with 5 kids, a friend of mine for 20 years, and it sucks losing him. He was building this XJ from about 3 different throwaways & totals I donated the wheels/tires to the cause: Rest in Peace Lenny

Welcome to Comanche Club. Did you and your buddies all order bumpers at the same time? How was the build quality once you got it? I don't know Nate, and never dealt with the company, just wondering,

Sounds like he wants to sell some bumpers.

One of the articles I read today said that goats would eat bamboo. As far as goat meat, I thought it tasted close to lamb. (lamb is very good in spaghetti sauce) Funny that goat chili was mentioned, that's also of the things I would want to make. Goat jerky came to mind, since the meat is supposed to be so lean. There's different breeds of goat, I wonder if some taste less like piss than others.
-
According to one site I was reading, some dairy goat farmers drown the bucks at birth. They consume valuable milk/resources without adding anything of value to the farmer. For a small farm it seems like the best bet is hybrid milk/meat goats. Keep the females for milk/resale Raise the males just long enough to harvest meat. I'm not sure I could kill something I raised from birth But I would like to try some goat jerky
-
I don't know why, but after reading this, I thought it would fit in well here, lol (I was reading up on raising goats) http://www.survivalblog.com/2007/05/fou ... goats.html:  :rotf: Sorry if that offends anyone, I just had to share. :rotfl2: The rest of the page & links are pretty interesting too, but not as funny. :D
