  1. Amazing job prepping this MJ. It's awesome to see you putting in the time and effort to do every detail right and making this truck last. I'd guess that the step bars are DeeZees, but even if they aren't they look like these might fit: https://www.deezee.com/product/step-pads/ Great work so far, I'll be keeping an eye on this build!
  2. So last week I pulled the cowl and the B pillar vents to clean up inside there and make sure I didn't have any lurking issues. Outside of a dried up wasps nest in the passenger B pillar all was well, but I discovered that the washer spray nozzles are VERY fragile when they're 30 years old and so now I need a new one to replace the one that snapped when I pulled off the hose. I'm thinking about hitting a JY this weekend to see if I can find a new nozzle and while there inspect a few XJs they have in stock for power doors. I really shouldn't be spending $ on the MJ, but if I find a set they're so cheap there I might grab the doors at $50 for one or $75 for both. As for the cowl I've left it off for now and am debating about building a cowl air intake since it's pretty cheap and easy to do since I already have a cone filter and all I would need to source is a canister for it. Outside of that I can build the rest from parts at the hardware store. If I come up with a decent design and its cost effective I'll put together a DIY. I have a bunch of small projects left to go on the MJ, so I'm anxious to get to working on it in my free time. Throughout this project the MJ has been at my father-in-laws house and frankly I'm dying to bring it home. The only issue is parking it at my house. I've got a 2-car garage, but my promise to the wife was that she ALWAYS gets one spot in the garage. So with the other half of the garage full of yard equipment and shelving I'm parking my XJ and DD sedan in the driveway which leaves no where for the MJ. (Yeah, middle class first world problems, i know...) So the next task in getting the MJ done (and home) is actually to build a shed in the back yard so I can move the crap in the garage elsewhere and fit either the MJ or XJ in the garage and park the other in the driveway along with my DD. Currently my commute is about 20 miles and the XJ gets really bad gas mileage, like 16 HWY and 12 city, and the MJ needs to be shaken down after this massive amount of work before I'll trust it for a DD. But on the plus side my office is moving soon (2-3 weeks or so) to a new building that is only 4 miles from my house and NO highway driving! Plan is to then decide if i need to keep the DD since I could easily drive the XJ or MJ without much change in commuting costs. Hoping this all works out and I can use the DD on a trade to get the wife a new vehicle. She's driving a small SUV now, but she said she's open to the idea of a full size SUV so I could use it as a tow rig for the XJ, What a gal ;-).
  3. Morton was a machine in closing it out for Houston. Great game where LA seemed to always be threatening to get back in it. Most 5-1 games are far less interesting than this one was. Great game, great win for a city that needs a good celebration.
  4. I agree, he is a heck of a player. I’m just not a fan of the hobo look. I just thought it was funny he got HBP twice. I’m glad he didn’t charge the mound. Edit: or get hurt. Never wanna see that.
  5. I’d plunk Turner too. He looks ridiculous. Haha
  6. Check my build. I just put a Rusty’s 4.5” lift on with SOA and an 8.8 and am running JK 255/75/17s.

Yeah, $25 before shipping is nuts.
  8. nah, if she's got a jeep and she wheels (and she looks like she's smiling) then it's in the blood, you're set...
  9. Thanks, the DIY article on the site definitely was a huge help. It started as "I need to check the floor boards and fix the fold forward levers" to "Hell, i'll just redo the entire interior and recondition the seats"
  10. Paint looks awesome! You definitely put in some serious effort to get it right and it paid off. Well done.
  11. Hard to find a gal like that. I got lucky and married the daughter of a 4x4 guy, she even got me a D44 for christmas one year. Do NOT let that kinda wife go; and be sure to shower her with gifts and affection! ps. Digging the build, its looking good! I like the 10-hole rims in black.
  12. I can't imagine the pressure... it's essentially everything they've worked for their entire careers crammed into 2-3 hours of what they will be remembered for... I'm a Nationals fan and they pulled all the stops to stay in it against the Cubs, even having Scherzer come in as a reliever so I'm sure both coaches have told their staff, "everyone's available".
  13. Probably not related... but did the vehicle have converted headlights? Meaning does it have H4 bulbs instead of sealed beams? Did something outside of the wiring melt it, or are you certain it was in the wiring itself? Did the seller say if the vehicle had been sitting? Wouldn't be the first time something gnawed through wires resulting in issues like this... Definitely agree figure out what caused the melting, then fix and rewire.

hmph, i could swear a week ago that page said "Not Available" I even remember checking them... Honestly I'm probably gonna see if I can get some at a JY this weekend.
  15. No kidding, when I stumbled on his FB page I was astonished at what he was doing. I took a few digital logic courses back in college and I'm still lost following some of his work. I wonder what he does for a day job... my company is always looking for smart people...
  16. McCullers is going for Houston, hes been solid during the playoffs but i'd like to see him walk fewer batters...
  17. I'm pulling for Houston. They've never won and while it's been a while for the Dodgers I like an underdog in most fights. It was good to see Orel at the game though, that' was cool.
  18. Do you feel up to fixing the things you cited as a concern? I bought an MJ in similar condition for less $ and far fewer miles, but I was patient and stalked CL and FB for a long time. Are you in a hurry? I would consider the replacement costs of all of the items you're concerned about along with the purchase price and if you're OK with that number go for it. If you find one for a bit more that has fewer issues consider that too.
  19. Here’s a tip to separate the hub: Put the hub bolts back in about 4-5 turns and with a socket on them hammer them from the back side working your way around. This should drive the hub out with time and effort.
  20. I've been wanting one of these for a while, but it seems like he's always adding something more amazing into it. Unfortunately I also have a sweet Prime4x4 panel to go into that same spot so if I got one it'd be a conflict of what I do with the Prime4x4 panel... Choices Choices... I'll hold for now anyways as the $$ to go into the MJ just dried up for a while...

Hose connector broke off the driver side one. Can’t seem to find these online, anyone got any? Looks like this but without the busted nozzle:
  22. Nice! Always good to get some $$ back from the state. In VA once a vehicle is 25 years old you can register for Antique plates. It imposes some restrictions on use of the vehicle (5K miles/year, no business use, attend 2 shows) but gets you out of property taxes. I did this for my CJ and it was definitely worth it. Do they offer antiques in RI?
  23. Lol I did get pretty lucky when I found this rig. I shopped for months and saw many rotted MJs along the way before I scored this one. I used to live in TN and I do miss the beauty of that area over NoVA.
  24. Wow, that's crazy! In VA my MJ was valued at $2000. I wonder where these states get their value systems... PS. Your MJ looks great, I really like the black fender flares. I am planning to strip and repaint mine black too to give the MJ some tone. Well done on this MJ!
  25. Would these fit into the stock pillar lights? Just curious.
