  1. My XJ did the same thing. If you would turn it to the left till right before it would kick on the dome lights, the cluster lights would kick on! I ran it like that for a year at least!
  2. Yup! To go that high, you are gonna need uppers and lowers, and possibly more parts/mods. Have you thought about bringing the @$$ end down to level it out?
  3. I have 1 each, 89 and 90, and they are both still in great shape! I would call yours a fluke. (Or maybe mine!)
  4. Ha, on my old Dakota you had to drop the front axle assembly to get to the starterr On the Northstar, you have to pull the intake manifold, because the starter is on the top of the flexplate!
  5. You can get a universal aftermarket one at any autoparts store for like $30. Probably less on ebay!
  6. I remember vehicles that take 5 minutes to change the starter! 1 word... Northstar! :fs1:  :wall:
  7. I thought they would all swap, but you never know!
  8. can't you just swap all the engine wiring and such, and the oil filter adapter? What all changed in 97?
  9. Swapped in full gauge cluster, XJ Laredo accessory switches, CD player, removed e brake pedal, removed clutch and brake pedals, swapped in Full width brake pedal, rtv'ed behind fuse block, brake booster, and homemade plugs for where clutch master was, rerouted shifter cable, All while my 2 youngest were napping today!
  10. :agree: Definitely don't wanna screw up THOSE bolts! They aren't just plain ole 8mm bolts
  11. Nice truck! You should get some sort of waterproof coating on that bedside before the elements turn that bondo to mush. (Paint) Primer would be better than nothing, but still won't keep moisture out completely. Are those the 16 inch XJ limited wheels? I have a set of those with 32" Courser M/Ts, (My backup set!)
  12. I'm sure. Pull your MJ up next to a ZJ. You'll realize how much more metal is there! I have an XJ, a ZJ, and an MJ, and I've played with the suspensions of all 3. (Including some experimental coil swapping between the three.) Go to Rustysoffroad.com, and check out their springs section. The 5.5 inch ZJ springs have the same part number as the 6.5 inch XJ springs! :brows:
  13. 6.5 inch ZJ springs are gonna net you close to 8 inches of lift in an MJ, (Because the ZJ is quite a bit heavier than an MJ/XJ.), but after an SOA, and 1 inch shackles out back, 8 inches will have her sittin about level. Sounds like a plan!
  14. Are you turning your Jeep into Mr. Potato head? Gonna put a little hat and glasses on it? :rotf:
  15. Yup! A buddy of mine blew up the ba10 in his YJ. Replaced it with a remanned ba10, and blew that one up in 3 days! (And put another one in it! )
  16. I just meant it isn't laterally separated, and I think I gave him enough info to tell the difference. Why you always bustin balls?!
  17. I'm in Fort wayne IN, (About an hour south of coldwater michigan) I have a grey bench, but no brackets. it's tired, but if you want it, come get it.
  18. I have the one out of my 1990 XJ Laredo. It's the factory Jensen Accusound package! It rocks! (Not really! I think I pulled it within 2 days of buying the Jeep!) If you need it, It's yours, just pay me for whatever it costs to ship.
  19. If it is the ba10, you'll be able to see that the case is 2 pieces, bolted together from front to back, and the AX15 is gonna be a one piece case.
  20. That's a new one to me man! The pump in my ZJ was dying, but it still went down the road fine. Just didn't help at idle. Just off idle, and it would turn just fine. Let us know what you figure out! I think it's the way of the Jeep. We'll throw parts at em' till they are brand new, then start over!
  21. Nice fab work man! That's how mine is getting built too! It's amazing what you can get done with a welder, a grinder, a sawzall, a tape measure, and a little imagination! (And lots of scrap metal in my case!)
  22. Go get a sheet of 3/16 masonite from the lumber yard. It's easy to cut with a jigsaw, and is pretty much the same stuff as the original. (Only more dense) Haven't used it on my jeeps, but it's what I use when restoring interiors on older cars. (They used the same stuff on our jeeps, as they used in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and into the 80's on everything else!)
  23. I'm in Allen county IN, and You won't be the only manche there this year! One of the local Jeep clubs here is going on the 25th of this month. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go that day or not.
  24. I was on rustys web site, and they have the same part number for 2 inch XJ springs, and 2 inch TJ springs.
