  1. James, this is the thread with the complete backstory... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22565 Rob L.
  2. Schaumburg. Rob L. thanks! thats pretty close to my home and work, can you ask him if he want to use my mj to measure up? I am sure he would. I sent him the link to this thread, I'm going to wait to see if he pops up to answer any questions. Rob L.

  4. Well, after seeing some local ads the Chicago CL for some Jeep bumpers and sliders, I decided to shoot the guy an email, to see if he would be interested in picking up where JCR Offroad left off. Here's what I sent: And here is what I got back: I just got off the phone with him, and he's very interested. He's been welding for about 17 years, and after working on Harleys, he took a break, and realized he wanted to get into Jeeps. He's had jeeps since he was 16, and currently has a bunch of CJ's, and a DD TJ. He started in CJ's and Wranglers, then word of his work spread to the XJ crowd. He's a one man show, who sometimes hires on some students from the local welding courses. I told him some stuff we might want, like rock rails and rear bumpers. He asked if anyone was making armor, and said he'd like to look into that, as he's still working on some XJ stuff he's going to release soon. I also told him there might be some interest if he could remake the factory rollbars, and he said he'd be interested, as long as he could make them stronger that what they were. Anyway, here are some links to some of this CL ads to see what he makes: http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/2260804047.html http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/2260805566.html http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/2260797710.html http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/2260799443.html http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/2260802202.html I told him I was going to start a thread on here for him. He said to please toss out anything we might want, or like. Beyond that, he said all he needs is a truck to start mocking things up. :brows: Anyone looking for some stuff near Chicago, IL? He's located in the Northwest suburbs. I would be game, but I am using my only running MJ as a DD, and the other is a shell. Its a shame The Farmer isn't up and running! :( Rob L.
  5. I know AMC-MJ used housewrap to deaden his interior some, and seal up the floor. viewtopic.php?p=209780#p209780 Its pretty cheap IIRC... Rob L.
  6. Apple screws the pooch again. Android for the win. Rob L.
  7. As it turns out they were available in a longbed in the H.O. Years. We actually gave a member who had a '91 lwb eliminator. For the metric ton, they were only available in lwb, though the d44 could be ordered in the towing package, or custom. And I sense some sarcasm in 64 cheyenne's post. Rob L.
  8. Personal Message Ben (Neohic), and send him your paypal addy. He will send out an invoice for you to pay, and then he'll send it your way once he gets payment! Welcome to the club! Sounds like you'll fit right in! Be sure to register your Comanche and any your friends might have! Click the link in my signature to check it out! Rob L.
  9. You asking a question? Maybe I missed it... And if I could ask one of my own... What's the build date on your '92? Rob L.
  10. I can harsh about this because its a free country, and I am slowly growing more and more tired as everyone see Americans as fat, lazy, uneducated, no good stereotype. Why do you want to make yourself look uneducated, or sell yourself short? How would it look if you were on the spot at a job and asked to fill out some paperwork? Do you think it would look good to an employer if you couldn't spell? Use your day to day to learn, and make yourself a better person. Spell check works and its not that time consuming. Most browsers will check it as you type. It at least will get you to a correctly spelled word, even if its not the correct word... I.E. Weather, and Whether. That I can take. Its all about bettering yourself also... Take these few words I commonly misspell. (And how I do) Safety (Saftey) Definitely (Defineatly) I know I jumble those up, usually a letter gets crossed. I will make my best attempt to get it right the first time, and try to get through it without right clicking and letting it fix it. Every time I see the spell check on Firefox highlight one of those suckers up (or any for that matter), I go back and fix it if I didn't catch it. And not to pick on a generation, but it seems to be more of the newer, younger fellas in your age bracket (Though I am not much older). Its not that I hate you, or think your an idiot, but I just don't want to see anyone be less than what they could be if they stick to it. Rob L.
  11. On top of that, there is no excuse for it. All browsers now seem to have some sort of spell check, and basic grammar checks. Rob L.
  12. His entire ad. Something about poor spelling and grammar make me lose all respect for a person. There is no excuse for illiteracy. Not only does it look bad, but it makes you look like an uneducated idiot. Rob L.
  13. Needs spelling lessons. Rob L.
  14. I like the play by play. Rob
  15. Ben, awesome stuff as always. You seem to keep some interesting projects going, and aren't afraid of tackling a new challenge. That said, when you move, can you send your shop down to me in Illinois? Rob :dunno:
  16. Looks like the hook for an old style cell phone case. Rob L.
  17. Sounds like your best off hitting up your local CL or Wally-world for a cheapo special. If $50 beans is too much, that's going to negate pretty much everything except for a local member, or someone who ships for free. Rob L.
  18. Looks pretty wet to me... And that would cause the fuse holders to drop back out of the fuses. I might want to double check that with a fine toothed comb. Rob L.
  19. Is your master leaking down the fire wall on to the fuse box? Rob L.
  20. plenty of hassle when you're doing a trail repair such as removing the trans pan to replace the filter after you sink the truck. no way. those are all crappy designed crossmembers. they're nice, but there is ZERO reason you should have to drop the front axle just to work on the transmission. And what part of that is impeding the trans pan? It seems as if your in the mood of arguing just to argue, so I don't even know why I'm bothering. Rob L.
  21. Found the 4.5" LA's... Had to select the 4.5" kit, and go through the customization stuff to select a long arm upgrade: http://bds-suspension.com/kit-customizer?kid=434H Only drawback is there is no drop out for the trans, but realistically, all you would have to do is pull the 4 bolts out of the arms to free up the crossmember, and support the axle. Then take out the crossmember... Extra work sure, but its do-able in my book, and not that much of a hassle. Rob L. :dunno:
  22. http://bds-suspension.com/product?ma=7& ... =1984-2001 Check out the 6.5". BDS makes some good stuff, all with the "No BS Hardcore Lifetime Warranty" guarantee. If it breaks/wears out/fails, they will replace it, no questions asked. They changed the layout a bit... You used to be able to get a 4.5" kit with LA's, but I can't find it now... I bet its still available, with some searching. Rob L.
  23. I have a bunch more, just they are all still on my phone... And yes, those are all from a camera phone. Rob L.
  24. Its easier for a novice to burn perches than setup gears properly. You can't just pull gears out of one axle and bolt them into another. You have to set backlash, pinion depth, preload, get a good pattern... Only takes a buddy who can toss some weld to put in a whole new XJ axle. Food for thought. Rob L.
