NEW OEM Tail gate on EBAY
Automan2164 replied to Bhfear's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Saw it in person... Shame to see this collection be parted out. Local guy bought an MJ and a load of parts cheap from a guy who passed away, and his ex-wife and her new husband were selling everything off. Looks like he's going to start parting it out on ebay. Rob -

'88 Comanche Chief in Northern Europe
Automan2164 replied to Sune_Pelle's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Welcome to the club. Again, sorry about the wait to get activated. For parts, there are many various sources. I am in the same boat as you, with opposite problems. I have an export Diesel MJ in the states, and most maintenance parts are only available in europe (Renault Diesel). For you, I would look into many of the US companies to see if they would ship out of the states. For a lot of the maintenance items you described, try www.rockauto.com. They have a pretty good reputation here, and are reasonably priced. I don't know if they will be willing to ship out of the country, but it is worth a try. As for tail lights, that's an eBay find, or if someone here is willing to ship some over to you from our classifieds, that might be an option too. I know back in the spring tails were going for about $350 US, and there was a guy in England who was buying them all up for a time. Prices have come down considerably. Patch panels are best sourced from junk yard XJ's. 2 Doors have excellent bedside patch panels over the rear wheels. Rob -
Well, doing my almost daily Craigslist search a few weeks ago something popped up that didn't seem right. In my search of "Jeep Comanche" an ad popped up with the title "Jeep Desk". Curiosity struck me as to why a furniture listing for "Jeep Desk" would show up on a Comanche search, so I clicked it expecting to find some toddler inspired Jeep desk or stroller. Nope! After making some arrangements, I decided that it would be worth my 450+ mile round trip. Gave me some time on the road, and I had never been to Holland, MI before. Excuse enough right? Plus, at $50, it was a steal. Even if I wouldn't use it as a desk, the tailgate and tails were worth at least double that. Today was the day. I saddled up at 10 am, got there about 3. It could only be owned by a Jeep guy. :D 4 of his 5 kids had XJ's as a first car, and the last had an XJ in her future. The MJ desk was in his son's room, hanging off the wall before, but they were now moving. He had it hanging by some pieces of angle. It had a little mistreating from his daughters dragging it around on it's tails/gate over the concrete, but it was all there. He even knocked the price down to $30 for the drive, and because of the damage. I left him with a CC magnet, and he pointed me to find an MJ locally that's always just sitting there. I couldn't find the MJ, but he insisted on heading out the next chance he can and send me a pic of it. Good guy. He was just happy that the desk he made found a good home with someone who can really appreciate it, which I will. :brows: My pics: My plans: Clean up the jagged back edge, and adhere some slit fuel tubing to keep the edge clean and safe. Attach some plywood to the back to keep the sides from flexing in and out. Make some built-in cubbyholes with a top that's flush with the bed rails so that when the gate is up, it looks like a table. Then when you drop the gate, the gate becomes the desk, and the cubbies hold all the knick-nacks and supplies. Clean up a D35 cover to nail to the wall in the correct location beneath, and 2 pieces of tire tread on either side. Rob

Clutter much? Hate to say it, but I don't see the need for it. People can't pay attention to the stickies, let alone a whole floating forum of important, yet... Dead threads. IIRC, you had issues about splitting up the classifieds into what they are now... You tweakin' out on me now? Please no? Or maybe another spot somewhere? It bothers me over the pub. Freakin' me out man. Rob :dunno:

We are watching the same thing right now, and the room mate hit the record on the DVR as soon as I pointed out the Comanche on the commercial break. Pics to come. Truck looks familiar. Rob :dunno:

The maker of the XJ was thinking about it. I've been PMing him back and fourth. He said after he gets a few of his other projects off the table, he's thinking about revisiting the MJ build. Rob

A guy at work who bought a '95 YJ new also told me the same thing, that his 4.0L turned into a 2.5L unless he wanted to wait for the next batch of 4.0L's. Rob :dunno:

There are certain buttons you need to press to lock loads or pick up objects. Generally, if it has functions (like the wreckers) check all the F keys. They usually move the hydraulic components and such. (Or raise and lower trailer jacks) As far as locking loads or trailers, try the "L" or "O" keys. A quick read on the repository will tell you what keys you need to press to run the downloaded vehicle. As for myself, I am playing with the skins again: Rob

I've never played with Chrome, but the IT guy at work and I were talking today, and he was telling me that he prefers Firefox. He said that chrome (In his opinion) was built for straight up speed. He claims he sees a lot of crashing and threats getting through. Rob :dunno:

Check the front axle too... Supposedly, exports could have a factory D44. Rob

I also was surprised by the amount of union fellas here. We actually just organized at the end of '10 when everyone saw all our benefits being progressively stripped away to nothing. We are down to 33 people total from 50+ just over a year ago. Convieniently, no one in administration was feeling the crunch, keeping their assistants and secretaries, as well as car allowances and $175K salaries. We had to stand up for ourselves and our work. After many late night negotiations sitting across from management, we finally inked and locked in a contract this month. I am the head steward for us, and the biggest pain in my employers @$$. You can only push me so much before I start fighting back. Rob :D

Public Works Fleet Mechanic(I.U.O.E. Local 150). I work for the town where they filmed "Groundhog's Day". We work on everything from chainsaws, weed wackers, police cars, pickup trucks, skidsteers, front end loaders, pumps, dump trucks, and heavy equipment. We do anything and everything when it comes to repairs and fabrication. It's a pretty diverse job, the only thing that could make it better is some co-workers would move on. Currently bearing down for plow season, which I loathe with much passion. Can't wait for spring. Rob

Notice my comment... "Man, have I said how disappointed I am in you guys!? MJ'ers all driving CJ's!" Man. I'm the only one upholding anything close to an MJ... Shame shame. Rob

I'll head out right now. I've been wanting to get up the trail to the right with my XJ, but get 3/4's of the way up every time, then beef it and turtle. Rob
