  1. I'd really only be interested in the bed off of it... But I am on the fence on that.... I am sure it wouldn't come out perfect, but it might be less work than cutting out, and re welding the whole bedside of my LWB. Rob L. :dunno:
  2. Nice mod Paul! Its the little creature comforts that make life in an MJ that much more live-able. Rob L. :D
  3. Hey all, just had someone approach me with an MJ for sale... I don't know much about it, except its been pretty well picked over. Its a LWB like I need and has minimal rust, but was a "farm" truck, so its pretty dented up. The owner of it now says it has some good MJ stuff, like a bench and some various things... He wants $250, but I'll most likely low-ball. My main question is, the pics it doesn't look rusty, but very dented... Do you think it would be worth it for me to buy it, so I can fix a dented bed instead of a rusted out one, and use/part the rest, or just pass on it, and fix my rusted out bed? Pics: What would you guys rather do, and should I just buy it anyway? Rob L.
  4. Hello, and welcome to the club. In cases like yours, when going from a RENIX to a HO engine, most here recommend a full vehicle harness swap. There are quite a few differences. I believe there is a site where they got an HO motor to run on a RENIX setup, but it escapes me. Rob L.
  5. Holy sweet jeebus....                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Rob L. ;)
  6. Talked to him one the phone for about an hour... He doesn't have the money to trade for his '88, but he just picked up another he would be more interested in trading for less money... '92 XJ 4.0L HO AW4 6.5" Rough country Stinger bumpers front and rear Yakima Rack 33" Mud rovers, almost new... He is going to send pics today or tomorrow, and I will post with the results... The way I look at it, if I get cash on top, there is a guy selling a 2.5L MJ 4x4 for $1000 I would jump on for a DD. Rob L.
  7. A bit overly confident that the USPS won't lose your box, aren't we? :rotf: Yes and no. I felt like helping a fellow CC member out... He had the full cluster with a big gas gauge, and I had a full cluster laying around, so I sold it to Jake, and I trust ya Pete, so I also gave him the stock cargo light... He got a deal. Sold him the full cluster and the cargo for $12... :dunno: Rob L.
  8. Also, with that amount of "Abuse" from the PO, I would pull the valve cover and check out how sludged up the top end is. Rob L.
  9. Looks like it may be time for a rebuild... Those numbers are pretty low. Rob L.
  10. That should work. Rob L.
  11. Eh, I've talked to that guy before... He wanted to trade for the RE XJ. I am in talks with him now... Seems like a decent cherokee, and if he can throw a gob of cash on top, I might bite. Rob L.
  12. Eh, I would go to the junkyard, and start pulling a bunch of vacuum lines. Then go to the hardware or auto parts store, and get some rubber connectors for vacuum lines. After that, Its all cut and splice. Rob L.
  13. Just be careful not to hydrolock that thing... ;) Looks like fun. Rob L.
  14. Just sold my spare cargo light and panel to jakeman17 today along with a full cluster with the tach increments in tens... (the blue style found in 86/87)... :D Rob L.
  15. Everything on the Jeeps is plug and play. Put in your conversion, and just install a bulb. Most likely, your cluster just never came with the bulb in it. SO once all of your 4x4 stuff is in do this: Remove the bezel from around the dash 2 Screws over the cluster, 1 over HL switch, 1 over cig lighter. Gently un-snap the bezel, and remove it towards yourself. Remove the 4 screws around the cluster, on the blue tabs. Remove the 2 screws on the left on blue tabs by the message center. Rock out the cluster slowly, there will be 2 connectors to pull out, and a speedo cable. Remove cluster. And it all your looking to do is change the bulb, you should be able to get to the bulb without undoing the harnesses and speedo cable. Rob l.
  16. You sound very bored... Rob L.

    adopt-an-MJ

Pete saw it in storage... Its not displayed... It has the same fate as the Land speed MJ... Sitting in a warehouse, in an unmarked building in Michigan... Rob L.
  18. I believe any XJ/MJ donor from '87 to '90, would be a bolt in drivetrain... I am unaware if the HO conversion in '91 brought any changes in trans sensors... But I know '91+ have electronic speedos... so some things are different, but for bolt in, keep it renix. '87-'90 MJ/XJ/XJ Wagoneer. Rob L.
  19. I actually ditched a d35 for it, but its in a DD ZJ, with no offroading... I got it with 3.73's for $65. All it has to do now is get the ZJ around... No towing except for my small 4x8, and no heavy use. For what I do, I think it will work. I just want to not be afraid to drive it long distances... I miss just being able to hop in it, and go. Rob L.
  20. :( Rob L. :D
  21. won't the rear axle pretty much go straight up more or less with the leaves? Rob L.
  22. Soapy water only works with positive pressures... A vacuum will suck the soap and water IN. Try propane, or TB friendly carb/tb cleaner. You will listen for a rise in idle... Rob L.
  23. He DID say it was stainless, but used... Looks like it has seen better days, but for $40? I don't think I should pass that up. Little polishing, and some paint, would be a good deal... Thanks fellas! Rob L.
  24. Was there a reason for this? Or was it more of a "Well, the XJ windshield was busted, and I have this old bronco stuff..." Rob L.
  25. Good score, not fond of those rims, but what ever floats your boat... :dunno: Rob L. ;)
