How rare are the 91/92 MJ's?
Automan2164 replied to 1991MJPioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
LOL, sorry :rotf: :fool: So, someone on here not too long ago posted something about the "official" CFC MJ count. Where was that source from? I did a brief google search of scrap vehicle records and found nothing...does anyone know of any website that maybe keeps track of year/model scrap certificates? I would imagine there has to be some record of every vehicle destroyed; maybe something a classic vehicle appraiser might have access to? If so, I think that would be MOST valuable for determining the rarety of the 91/92 MJ's...you know, once we figure out the official number made, then subtract the fallen ones to see just how many of them technically still exhist :dunno: I'll keep digging. -James The official number is the one I posted for '92... 3183 or something... I have that backed up by a couple jeep books that correspond. Rob L. -
That's all dandy, but... :needpics: Rob L. :D

The drive away part might be the toughest with the multiple projects Pete has going on. Rob L. :rotfl2: -
Just checking... Seems like the regulars have kinda dropped out of radar. Rob L.

MJ Stock Bumper Towing Capabilities
Automan2164 replied to runner6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Exactly. And you even said the bumper you wanted to tow with had a weird upward thing. Its already been bent. Best to just spend the $200 and get the hitch. Then if the need ever arises to tow something bigger, you can do so without kicking yourself for not getting the hitch in the first place. Rob L. -

They actually made 952 MJ's in '92... There were 3,181 total '92's made. I have the production numbers on my old site: http://www.comanchemj.1hwy.com Look in the history section near the bottom. Rob L. -
MJ Stock Bumper Towing Capabilities

A receiver hitch is actually still available. You can pick one up at your local u-haul. And they aren't even that expensive. IIRC, there is a thread on them in the DIY section... Yep here it is: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18297 I wouldn't advise towing much, if anything on the stock bumper. Once you get it down, and take a good look at it, its a pretty cheap piece of junk. Automan2164 replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Welcome to the club. Just for future reference, the project section is for an on going thread on the build up of your rig. For the tech questions, feel free to post 'em up in the spotlight of the tech section. You'll get faster, and more results... Even though you already got an answer, I am going to go ahead and move this into the tech section for ya. Rob L. -

Plus, there are a TON more ways to find someones address. If someone wants it, they will get it. This is an age of technology, and information. A plate or VIN won't hurt. If someone has it out for you, they aren't going to stop just because they can't get your info from your MJ. Rob L. -
Well, FINALLY got a chance to get out to the guys house... Picked it up for $40 still. Looks to be in decent shape... There is a crack, but doesn't looked carboned up... I don't think its through, but might give it a little TLC with the welder before hand. Aftermarket on left, OEM right. Aftermarket. OEM. Little polishing, and maybe some ceramic coating, and it will be good as new. Rob L.

Some of the hardest to find, yet most sought after MJ's... Late model 4.0L with more power, the better of the manual trans's, and the newest ones available. Not many made, and the last of an ERA. Cherish it my friend. Rob L. -

Now that really pisses me off. My '97 CTD was STILL worth $10,000, even with 289,000 miles on it. And mine was a 3/4 ton. Rob L. :fs1: -
