Moving to tech for ya... Rob L. -
Found some better pics: I really liked the look of it. The latching system and key was a little goofy, but it fit GREAT, went all the way down to the bed floor, and filled up the whole front. Very good box, with great use of all room. The front lip even sat flush with the front of the bed, and the top of the lid was at level height with the back window. Like it was made for an MJ. I am almost positive that autozone most likely still carries this... and its probably right in the same price range. Rob L.

Are ZJ pitman arms longer than XJ/MJ??
Automan2164 replied to XJs4Ever's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, I am waiting for a set of extended LCAs from a dude whos in Moab now, BUT my 89 XJ as well as my 91 XJ both had 5" and neither ever suffered from this. I may hit the boneyards for a complete set or steering jazz off a ZJ [tie rods, centerlink, drag, trackbar etc] HEY - ZJ LCAs are pretty beefy...will they fit an MJ? Ours are like C-challel. Those are closed HI RICK! :waving: I would shoot for WJ control arms, as they have a little bend in them to help the tire from rubbing. The ZJ/WJ/MJ arms are the same length... But grabbing a good set of stout V8 ZJ linkage might help you out. Make sure all the joints are good though! Glad to see you stop by! Rob L. -
I had picked up a toolbox at autozone back when I had my '91. It had no over the rail sides, so it fit all the way down to the bottom, and was a VERY tight fit. Looked great, made by the autozone brand duralast. I don't know if I have any good pics... here's what I can find: I'll see if I can dig up another... Rob L.

It won't be... It was just suggested that we keep a rolling thread of just MJOTM's... I figured this would keep it cleaner... That way, to see the latest truck, just click on the thread. If you want to comment, there will be a seperate "regular" thread created for comments for that MJOTM. Also, as suggested, we will create a separate photo account, so that the pics will be available down the road for all to see. Rob L.

The locations included the Philippines, Korea, Guam, and the Marshall Islands. I'd had several XJs throughout the years, both as family vehicles, and even had my own personal government XJ we used for accessing remote microwave sites in the Philippines. That thing would out climb and outrun anything the locals used, including the Toy FJ40s and FJ55s that were supposedly the class of the 4WDs at the time. I'd never owned an MJ in the past, but the XJs I did have experience with so impressed me that since I was returning to Alabama and HAD to have a pickup, it would be an MJ. I wanted a low mileage one-owner 91-92 HO model w. the AW-4 since I knew the breed pretty well, and after several months of searching found a low mileage base 91 for sale by the original owner in Buena Vista, VA. After much negotiation we settled on a price, and I bought it sight unseen (except for about 1000 pictures). I flew from the Marshall Islands straight through to the Waynesboro, VA airport in Dec. 1997 arriving wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops (I had owned no cold weather clothing in years). There was a foot of snow on the ground, and the temperature was about 20 degrees. Felt like 20 below to me. The owner, a 77-year-old local farmer, met me there, and looked at me like I was an alien. He immediately hustled me out of the airport straight to my new MJ, grabbed a blanket from the front seat, and wrapped it around me, stuffed my frozen carcass inside, started it up and cranked up the heater. After I stopped shivering and could talk, we went over to his place and his wife broke out some warm clothes and insisted I wear them on the drive down south. After a great meal, I hopped in my MJ, glanced back once, and the old guy and his wife were both waving and crying watching their beloved MJ leave their fold. The trip down to 'Bama was perfect with no problems. MJ people are special, especially this old couple. What owner loves best about CC The people. As exemplified in my MJ story, MJ people are all special. The common thread is that we all love our unique trucks, and it shows in the way CC members create their own personal rigs to suit their own taste. Most all members are more than willing to share their gained knowledge with others, something you do not often see on other automotive forums. Most all of us would never consider another model truck, and those that do sell their MJ or purchase another non-MJ truck (including other Jeep models) for reasons they think are valid and necessary at the time always regret it down the road. These little trucks are an addiction, there's none other like them, and it's a lifelong love/hate thing that you can't break. That addiction is what we all have in common. -Don Thanks for being the first Don! That's one sweet MJ! Its a privilege to share the board with ya, and I would mod with you any day. I hope my first MJOTM post does you justice, and I hope you like it. Thanks again Don! Rob L.

Track bar bolt Torque?
Automan2164 replied to Jakeman17's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I welded a washer on the ol' '91 when that started to happen. I know a rental store in McHenry where you can rent a 110 welder, but Jake, your probably best just finding a friend. I have every welder under the sun at work, but can only work on my vehicles, and immediate family. Keep me posted if you can't find a welder, I think Pat has one at his house, and its not that far. Rob L. -
Poor MJ. Old guy took it up with him. Wanted it to die if he died I guess. :( Rob L.

Adam, welcome to the group... Is there any particular reason you are looking for '90-'92? Only reason I ask was that '90 was the last year of the RENIX era MJ's. If you are shooting for the HO's like I am assuming, you will want to stick to the '91-'92's. Those are the HO's. Rob L.

Leave it to JeepcoMJ... : Flow Daddy header, spot on match. Looks like everyone on NAXJA say its just as good as the APN. Rob L.

How rare are the 91/92 MJ's?
Automan2164 replied to 1991MJPioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That I will have to check the books on, but I know the one book listed the 3183 for '92... Let me check my archives. Rob L. -
How rare are the 91/92 MJ's?
Automan2164 replied to 1991MJPioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
LOL, sorry :rotf: :fool: So, someone on here not too long ago posted something about the "official" CFC MJ count. Where was that source from? I did a brief google search of scrap vehicle records and found nothing...does anyone know of any website that maybe keeps track of year/model scrap certificates? I would imagine there has to be some record of every vehicle destroyed; maybe something a classic vehicle appraiser might have access to? If so, I think that would be MOST valuable for determining the rarety of the 91/92 MJ's...you know, once we figure out the official number made, then subtract the fallen ones to see just how many of them technically still exhist :dunno: I'll keep digging. -James The official number is the one I posted for '92... 3183 or something... I have that backed up by a couple jeep books that correspond. Rob L. :shake: its all good James Yeah I have found 2 pics of a 1991 MJ like mine...shortbed 4X4 Colorado red....etc I agree that finding the number of scrapped MJ's would help alot with knowing truely how rare certain models are....My MJ was manufactured in september of 1990 but was a 1991 model.... what month is the cutoff for the next model year? July???? I think thats what it was... :dunno: Usually, they stop making the previous model year around April/May... Rob L.
