  1. On the 2.1 it is right up front by the timing cover. Rob
  2. If you get out to Chicago ever, the dealer I used to work at used a paintless dent guy that was some sort of sorcerer. Comes with the tools, and knocks out cars by the hundreds. Rob

Call the customer service line and they will ship them out, most of the time only requiring pictures. My municipality uses some Snap-on, but we don't have a servicing dealer (Even though the truck stops across the lot). We just don't buy enough to make it worth his while. Matco gets most of my (and the City's) business because he shows up every week. Our "Industrial" salesman stops by once every couple months and has been good luck with the "I just inherited this load of tools, you interested at 1/3 the price?" the City has fared very well with this, including a bluetooth borescope and a HD truck scanner. TL:DR Snap-on takes care of their customers (even though I am still not a fan). Call the customer care line, take some pics, and they will send you out some new stuff. Rob
  4. Boxing that hitch would be a pain in the @$$. I see that when you tape the bolts on they are on an "exposed" area easily contacted when slid around. I would tape the bulge so it sits next to one of the side plates on the inside. Rob
  5. What about using some lag bolts through the mounting holes to secure a 2x4 in between the brackets? Or you could also just temporary tack a piece of angle between them to be ground off by the end user... Or, more complicated yet, take a piece of 1" angle iron, quick tack some nuts to the inside at the ends, and thread a bolt into it from each end to hold in transport... Rob
  6. Ben's 'nest trailer next to my 'nest trailer. Where my 'nest currently resides, on the back of the turbo diesel MJ.
  7. I'd be happy to help. I also welcome anyone to see the Diesel MJ, it's an odd little duck that often goes unnoticed. Hard to go wrong with the Merc. diesels you enjoy. Rob
  8. Be sure to have the little lightswitch in the "on" position in the top left corner of the text box. Rob
  9. You don't have to put the url in a picture. Just copy and paste it into the post. Rob
  10. I'm in northern IL and always appreciate a nice old MJ. Let me know if you want a hand looking at it or need help with it. You can come down my way and check out the MJ's anytime. Always welcome MJ'ers to the homestead. Rob
  11. To post a video here? Upload it to youtube, then just drop the url in, and the forum does the rest. Rob
  12. Yep. Think it sold for like $700. https://www.copart.com/lot/19074567 Rob
  13. That was for sale on Copart awhile back. One second. Rob
  14. Crank sensor. Pay attention to if the tachometer is moving also when cranking. Rob
  15. 1987 Parts book: 1987 Sales master book: 1991-93 Parts book:
  16. Yes. One second.
  17. I would get a 2000's Corolla or Camry in a heartbeat. Rock solid, reliable cars. GF has had a 2007 Corolla since 2008. It currently has about 245,000 miles on it. Other than a freak PCM at 70K covered under warranty, it has only received maintenance parts. Tires, brakes, oil changes... First set of rear brake shoes @ 240,000. First transmission service (ORIGINAL FLUID!!!) @ 240,000 and going strong. 6,000-10,000 mile oil change intervals with synthetic, and it comes out gold every time. It has been wrecked and rebuilt a handful of times. It's on the third or fourth front bumper, and the second rear. My favorite time was when she tried to pass a semi doing 60 MPH. swerved to miss a racoon, hit the rear duals of the semi, and careened Dukes of Hazzard style down a steep embankment and 200 feet into a cornfield. The officer said something about a tow, but I just told him "Thanks, but with all due respect, I'm driving it home." Ripped off what was left of the bumpers, backed it out in its own ruts. Once the mud clapped off, the thing drove as good as it ever did! Steering wheel straight as an arrow. The longevity of these cars is apparent in the JY. It took forever to find body color parts because a Corolla doesn't show up in the yard because it stopped running. It shows up in the yard because it's wrecked. If they did show up unscathed, they were late 80's or 90's models with a kajillion miles on them. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one of these up in a flash and drive it across country. Pics: After the JY parts and mule kicking the trunk inside out. We joke about this being the car she can't kill. We've looked at newer Corollas, but this one is just the Rock of Gibraltar. It always starts, handles great in snow... Has some power to pass, and is a zippy fun little thing. I would be sad to see it go. We just put new brakes, tires, oil, tune up, and belt/tensioner on it. Should be smooth for another 100K. Rob
  18. Nice find! If it is a true '88 Eliminator, the 4X4 is not stock. 4X4 Elims were not offered until 1990. Rob
  19. That was a consideration Don, but I have all the brand new parts for drums. I'd rather just keep it original for the sake of not reordering a pile o' parts. Rob
  20. That would be awesome if they did. The '87 parts book calls for different numbers, but that might just be a left over from the take over. One is in AMC numbers, and one is in Mopar numbers. I don't trust the internet enough to tell me they interchange. Rob
  21. Hey all, been awhile since I've mentioned I am nipping away at my '87 in the garage, but I am. I really got myself into a corner though... When I took the D44 in the rear apart to send it out I tossed all the drum shoes and hardware in anticipation of all the new parts. This thinking is well and all, except for a year later when I go to put it all back together and realize that I tossed both parking brake bars, and both parking brake levers. In case you don't know what I am referencing, here is a diagram: This is generic, but the parts I need are #19 and 9, as well as the spring on 9. That brings me here. No one has these in stock for a D44, but the D35/8.25 parts in the yard are plenty... Would any of you know if the parking brake levers and bar are the same between the D44 and the D35/8.25? If so, I think I can continue my head of steam. Thanks, Rob
  22. Probably won't take long. Rob
  23. All LKQ yards have a 40% off weekend. Rob
