  1. Oh, and if you do buy it.... Loose the hood. :ack: Rob L.
  2. They are really dependable engines, but don't expect the best of gas mileage. As for the t-case, its hit and miss. My 249 gave up the ghost, but a lot of the guys over at the Grand club wheel with them, dd with them, and have no problems. I saw that truck, and liked it too. Buy it up so we can see how it was done. A late model ZJ dash would be even sweeter. Or a swap from a '98 5.9L ZJ! :brows: Rob L.
  3. My 4.0L has the 249. Rob L.
  4. Good luck! Keep in mind that if the 2.8 ever grenades, a 3.4L GM v-6 is a direct bolt in with an accessory swap. Rob L.
  5. You would think so, but with the coolant constantly rushing by, no heat exchange occurs in the coolant, and all heat is retained in the block. No thermostat usually causes an overheat condition. Rob L.
  6. 1st question, what do you have, what engine does it have, what kind of trans does it have now, and what are your plans for it? Rob L.
  7. I vote replace with known-good used. They are so plentiful, and reasonably cheap, it just ain't worth the effort to try to save one that could have existing damage that drove it into the ground. And this is coming from the king of money misers. (on stuff like this) Rob L.
  8. Sure thats the same column? I thought that they went to airbags around '93-'95... NOT the same column if it is. If its the standard GM style, yes, the key cylinder will swap out between the two(if the columns are alike), but its kinda of a pain in the @$$. Rob L.
  9. You can try a used head, but I would just find a fresher junkyard motor to swap in. If you are sure you cracked the head, who knows what other subsequent damage occured. Complete engine swaps are pretty easy, and if you can find one for a good deal, you should be good to go. Rob L.
  10. Shoot me a PM with your phone number, and I will fill you in on sore of your questions, and what you can do. Rob L.
  11. Any year make and model will work with some, well, work. Stray away from the '86 Model year, as they are usually tagged with the 2.8L lame duck. Any renix era('87-'90) or High Output ('91-'92) should fit the bill. Renix have a little less HP, but make up for it with a better cam for torque, and gas milage. I would tell you to stray away from building a late model '92 (built 1-92+). They only actually made 952 MJ's from 1-92 to end of production. If you find one, restore it, and baby it. Any engine or trans combo can be swapped with an XJ/MJ donor. So if you find one that speaks to you, and its a 2.5L, or bad 4.0L, get it. Engine, trans, and 4wd conversions are easy, and cheap. They used a less than reliable 5 speed from '87-Mid '89, so keep an eye out for those... Some have converted to the AX-15 (mid '89 and up) and thats the better 5 speed to find. If you have any more questions, just ask! Welcome! Rob L.
  12. Welcome to the sickness! Rob L.
  13. Metric Ton spring packs would be a good fit also. They have an extra leaf, and add a couple inches... Came stock on 2,205 payload MJ's. Rob L.
  14. Black widows!?!? E'gads man. The GF's ex got bit by a brown recluse. Had to graft part of his @$$ on to his thigh because of the tissue die-off... But he was an idiot anyway... Rob L.
  15. Tom knows his stuff, ask him, and he will tell you. He has an MJ also, and knows the quirks, so if it says 2" on the site, it will be 2". Rob L.
  16. No prob. Rob L.
  17. None available. You can bastard pack one together with explorer leaves I believe, but the best route to go is a new spring pack. A member makes packs here, and has a lift company... http://www.hellcreeksuspensions.com Say your from Comanche Club, and you will get a 10 percent discount. Rob L.
  18. The MJ shackles can be used on an XJ to net about 1.5" of lift. I would then imagine, that the same shackle you used gave 2" on an XJ, would only get about .5" on an MJ. Not worth it in my book. Easiest, and cheapest way to lift an MJ in the rear is a spring over. Rob L.
  19. Had one hiding in the handle of the top of the Weber... Got it fired up today, and saw him... He was trying to stay on top of the handle to escape the heat. I kept hitting the handle with the tongs until he touched the top of the lid, and dance himself right into the vent on top. Bet it was a little hotter inside with the charcoals. Was a jumping spider, about the size of a dime. The other grill has some hornets making a nest, so I picked up the lid, doused the whole hive with lighter fluid, closed the lid, and slid in a lit piece of paper... Carnage. Rob L.
  20. Hate to rain on your parade more, but the lift shackles won't work out well either. MJ shackles are near twice the length of XJ shackles. Stock. And no one makes lift shackles for our trucks. You can use a set of chevy drop shackles off ebay, but with them being so long already, its sketchy to run a HUGE shackle. Your going to have to throw out any XJ thoughts or practices on the rear of this thing. Rob L.

    New here.

Welcome, but '87, 2.8L? Sure its not an '86? Welcome to the madness. Rob L.
  22. :( Too bad. I was born in Burlington. I am a born Cheese head. I just got transported to hell at a young age. Rob L.
  23. That color with the silver stripe and bedliner is SICK!!! Rob L.
  24. Illinois sucks the big one. Every time I renew my plates (Yearly), its $98. And when you have more than one vehicle, its like an extra car payment. In fact, when I registered the Metric Ton I just sold  when I left the building, for tax, title, and tags, my wallet was about $260 lighter. :fs1: 'Eff Illinois. I am moving to Wisconsin. Eventually. Rob L. :fs2:
  25. Build date? Rob L.
