WTB 2.5 long block, running condition in IL
Automan2164 replied to Worlds Fastest Comanche's topic in Wanted
Pete, we might have one out of beaterjeeps MJ... Good engine, but I think it is of a TBI era. The '96 Cherokee 2.5L I picked up for the axles is sitting at Pats, and that will donate it's 2.5L to Beater's MJ, but I know the longblock in his is still good. PM Pat. Rob L. -
Want some cheese with that whine? Or maybe a hamburger and some french cries? The waaaaamulance? :rotfl2: Sinkrun is in PA, and even offered to let you borrow his. Relax man. I am just giving you a hard time because I told you something like this would happen, and you went ahead anyway. Take the big money you got off ebay, and buy back a set for the $50 they are going for now. Hold on, got a phone call... "Whats that? Someone a mile away? Saw that coming huh?" Rob L. 8)

Your right, but I don't think the 2.5L's intake is too far out of place in relation to the 4.0L. Custom job. Rob L.

What does "Command-Trac" stand for?
Automan2164 replied to case5412's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just the nickname for the 4wd system your MJ has. Its a part time 4x4 system with 2, 4 hi part time, and 4 lo part time. Selec-trac, is a nickname for another, which has a 2, 4 hi part, 4 low part, and all time 4wd options. Rob L. -
I too, was in this boat not that long ago. I have been on the search for another rarely seen shelter dog, a standard schnauzer. I want one because of the stout nature of them, and the intellect. The Schnauzer is to Europe what the German Shepard is to the states. A die-hard service dog. After also, years of searching, I found the perfect dog on petfinder. 5 Year old standard schnauzer who was turned into the shelter because his owner was deployed overseas. Already trained, friendly, and well taken care of. Cool, because I would be giving him a home, and because he had less of a chance of being abused, and I knew the story of where he came from. I called the place, asked what their adoption process was. Basically, go to the shelter with everyone in your household, meet the people, and the dog, bring any other pets along. If everything works, you can leave with the dog. Awesome price on the dog too, $150, and it covers the first vet visit, heartworm check/treatment, shots, rabies shot, distemper, collar, leash, tag, chipped, bed, and 5 lbs for dog food. Great deal! Like a sore johnson, you just can't beat it. I was PUMPED. I schedule a day off, get the GF to do the same, and call the day before. As I talk to the place, they realize I am 80 miles away. These is a 50 mile radius on adoptions. I ask for the manager, he says, "thats the rule, no exceptions." :fs1: So I wrote my story, describing the shelter dog I rescued with Ma when I lived with her, my background with Fire/EMS, homeowner... Yadda yadda... And kept my fingers crossed. I got a call from the pres of the shelter, telling me he really liked my email, and how I seemed like a really good home for the dog. He had a meeting with the board of directors, and was going to try to flex the rules for me, since I seemed so qualified. Long story short, the board wouldn't budge, and I have no dog. Over a 30 mile span. Rob L. :(

most of the intake kits i've seen re-use that hose unless you know of some that do come with it (I'm out of touch) check the junkyard for sure, should be cheap http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/detai ... 71519.html Must be out of touch. :D Rob L.

I will say this about synthetics... Before I worked in the maintenance dept for the city, a cop drove through a flooded intersection, and bent a few rods. His words... "It was really deep, so I decided to go through it, and when the water started rolling over the hood, it bogged down, so I floored it to get through." :fs1: They put in a crate 4.6, and put in the oil they run in everything (synthetic) and its never run right since. I don't think it ever broke in properly, and the thing burns 2 quarts every 3,000 miles. Car is going to auction this September. My boss asked me what I thought when I first started, and once I found that out, I told him it was because of that. I was always told synth in a new engine was a bad idea. Rob L.

I would either use this as the time to get an intake kit, which does away with it, or just pick one up from a member/Junkyard. Rob L.

Can someone pull a CARFAX or similar report for me?
Automan2164 replied to Unglar's topic in The Pub
A lot of states have a title check built right into their website. You can run the VIN, and it shows limited info, but will show if there are any liens on the title, how many owners, rebuilt, or any history of water damage. Also shows the last time the title change hands. Good to know if they say that they've had it for a long time, and you suspect different. Here is the IL one: http://www.ilsos.gov/regstatus/ Quick run of my ZJ shows 1 registered owner, not a rebuilt title, no lienholders, and title in 11.4.2008, when I bought it. 8) Pretty decent for free, don't know how one states does checking an out of state VIN. Shouldn't "Your guy" be the one ordering this? Rob L.

Does he still have the vin? This is important. To me anyway. Rob L. -
Well, he better plan on putting EVERYTHING from the blazer into an MJ. Wiring, dash, harnesses, CPU... Major undertaking. Or, he could just sell the 4.3, and buy a 4.0 with the money. Rob L.

I would pay $400 for a perfect, rust free bed. $300 is a fair price. I not too long ago picked up a longbed with some dents and a little bit of rust from the junkyard for $300 and 2 cases of beer. But it also had a D44, MT springs, and the whole back half of the truck still attached. ;) Rob L.

Welcome to the club Bronson. Hope ya stick around. Beer is in the fridge. Rob L.

Closed cooling question

You shouldn't have to, as it is the highest point in the system. Rob L. -
Closed cooling question
Automan2164 replied to kyleag89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There are a few companies making them out of aluminum, and are really good. Also, check with napa, I think one of the parts stores had them new, dealer too. Because a JY bottle will have the same problem yours has. Its old, dry, and brittle. Rob L. -

Automan2164 replied to kyleag89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes... You need the system to retain pressure to raise the boiling temperature of the coolant. A crack in the bottle will not allow it to get to operating PSI, and cause a boil over. Rob L. -

Drained the BA10 - question
Automan2164 replied to ParadiseMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you really feel the need for it, use some cheap wally world gear fluid, drive it for a week, and drain it again. But I really wouldn't worry about flushing it. Rob L.
