  3. CHECK OUT THE DIY SECTION FELLAS!!! viewforum.php?f=29 Rob L.
  4. You'll get the fastest results and most exposure if you ask any MJ related q's in the tech section. Rob L.
  5. The best thing to do is replace with '97+ XJ door seals. Most in the junkyard are in pretty good condition, and easily removed. Rob L.
  6. :waving: Hiya Rick! IIRC, the ballast resistor only plays in when you start the truck, and thats about it. Once you release to the "run" position, I think its bypassed. Someone will have to confirm this. Other than that, if I was in your situation, I would start by replacing the ballast resistor and the offending wire, and go from there. Rob L.
  7. So, wait. You never had it in your possession in the first place? Generally, I have found it bad mojo to announce you have a vehicle before taking possession. Bit me in the but more than a few times, and I have noticed that usually, if I keep it to myself until I have it, I get it more often. Superstitious? :dunno: Rob L.
  8. Nice! Welcome to the club! Clean looking MJ! Rob L.
  9. Yep. We used to do a "Sealed bid" and taxi companies used to snatch these things up all the time. It was easy for them to call my boss, ask his opinion of the cars, and they would send checks for 3-4K for the same car I told you about. The bid would close, and there would be a flatbed 5th wheel that loaded up 4-5 of them bound for New York or Chicago. Now, we send all of our cars to a local county auction. The taxi co's won't send out a live bidder, so they don't bid. Leaves it up to the public to buy a car that's viewed as beat-down and battered. Couldn't be further from the truth. Our PD gets new cars every year, the old primaries become secondaries, then pool cars to public works after that. With the constant influx of new wheels, we constantly get rid of pool cars before with TONS of life left. Easy to work on, RWD cars, with few problems, and easy fixes. Since we get cars with sequential VIN's, I have noticed that they get problems in rashes. If one has a fuel pump crap out, better see how many are that year, and be ready for a few more. But, they get around 20+ MPG on the highway, and are durn sexy looking in black with a pushbar. Rob L.
  10. As a rule, an xj aal will net about half the advertised xj lift when installed on an mj. Rob L.
  11. Jim, a cheap alternative to the marauder is the crown vic police interceptor. Same drivetrain and programming. They move for a car of that size. Most can be picked up for less than 2 grand. We auctioned one last year that was an 05 with 80k, good shape, and ran flawlessly. Only sold for 1500. Rob L.
  12. :clapping: YES!!!! Another multi-mj owner!!! How do you like the 4.0L? The pioneer package was a step up from base, and made things like a cloth bench standard. But, as we all know, packages didn't mean much if the Original owner wanted to order a bunch of weird stuff. Rob L.
  13. I think thats a decent deal. Did you look under the rear for a D44? Rob L.
  14. :agree: Rob L.
  15. I don't know if they will have them, but I have bought a few service manuals, electronic and hardcopy, from ebay. The seller is lloyds literature. Might be lloydslit. Rob L.
  16. Yep that was the one. Just tried looking for it on the android market, no results... :( Rob L.
  17. I am at a loss here. Just got a new phone, HTC EVO 4G, and remember a thread where someone posted there was a game with an MJ in it for the phone... I have searched for 10 minutes now, with multiple keywords, still nothing. Anyone help me out? Rob L.
  18. What were their reasons? Rob L.
  19. You can do whatever you want Jim. But only if you fly over here and take me for a quick spin in the plane. ;) Rob L. :D
  20. Jim, the 242 is the oddity when it comes to t-cases. Its a full time/ part time 4x4... I believe it goes like this: 2h, n, 4h all time, 4l all time, 4h part time, 4l part time. Rob L.
  21. Says the guy with an enormous cup holder on his dashboard.... Hey, that was installed by the previous keymaster. Rob L.
  22. I could do more damage with an IP address than your VIN. 8) Rob L.
  23. You can multi quote Will, when you are in the reply page, scroll down and look at the history, and you can also quote from there. Rob L.
  24. They make cup holders from the factory that clip on to the side of the console. Look for them in the junkyard... Keeps a nice looking factory style, and isn't sitting there in the way of your arm when shifting. Rob L.
  25. I've been thinking lately, about some sort of MJ registry. It would be nice to have a list of MJ's, where they are at, what they have in them now... You know, just be able to keep track of how many are on the road, and how many in the junkyards. I was thinking that the mods could set up another section, "MJ Registry" with subfolders for each year. Use the VIN as the title, and put the description with some details about the truck. Maybe what the original combo was, (If known), the build date on the door, any kind of notable options, current set up, location (optional, but I would like to see where they all are), and a "still on the road" or "Junked"... Here is what I am thinking, I'll use one of my trucks as an example 1J7FJ66S2NL223002 1992 Comanche Eliminator 4.0L HO / AW4 / NP231 / D30 / D35 / SWB 116,000 miles as of 5-2010 Build: 4-92 Current location: Northern IL Status: Still on Road Notes: Has full skid plate package, factory hitch, and Factory rollbar (not original). Has the original Eliminator interior with wingback buckets, aftermarket stereo and speakers. Non-original horn button. Floors, cab corners, and rockers have been repaired. Rust through on bed. Hunter green metallic in color. Owner as of 5-2010, Automan2164 AKA Rob L. What do you guys think? Anything to add? Any concerns? I would like to keep the VIN thing, because it would be nice to have, as the VINs are sequential (IE, 321334 then 321335). Be really cool to see if your MJ rolled off the line in front of another member's. 8) Having it in the "forum" format, and keeping it here would keep the database search-able, and you could trace an MJ once its registered. Discuss! Rob L.
