  1. I thought you were going to post the picture Jake took of you while you were helping him do the oil pan gasket... Might be more fitting for the group. Rob L.
  2. Just making sure it's still in the family! ;) You should post up some more pics for those who haven't seen it. Didn't mean to steal your thunder. Rob L.
  3. I know Brent ($500 MJ) used this one: Borgeson HD Steering Shaft (p/n 000893) http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx? ... rtID=11697 Big bucks if I remember right, but he loves it, and its fully serviceable including u-joints. That, and its very collapsible, keeping the steering column out of your chest cavity in the case of an accident. Rob L.
  4. Why does it seem like I am the anomaly here? Granted, I have only changed one IN the vehicle, and it was a '91, AW4, NP242 XJ... So I would think it's the same as any other... Only thing I had on my side was a drive on vehicle lift, but I could have just as easily been on my back in the driveway... Am I missing something here? Rob L. :dunno:
  5. Yeah, don't cut through the floor. I use some 1/4 and 3/8th's unions wrapped in electrical tape to keep them stiff but flexible, get enough extensions to get you there. Then take out the bolts from the bottom, unplug the sensor from up top and pull it out. Then fanagle the new one in, and start the bolts, and tighten 'er up. Please note that you should leave the card board or paper stock on the tip of the sensor. Its a spacer to make sure you have it properly gapped from the Flexplate or flywheel. Tighten it with the paper resting on the wheel, and the first start will rip the paper away leaving a perfect gap. Rob L.
  6. The CPS, as I have found it is incredibly easy from the underside of the truck, using a couple of extensions and a union. I can change one in 10 minutes. Rob L.
  7. Yeah, but then you would have had the fuel gauge polarity/accuracy problem unless you could find an MJ HO sender. And those are tough to find - only for two years were they made........... What if I have a HO XJ sender? I have a spare HO XJ in my shop that I am going to strip down for the MJ. I believe the MJ and the XJ are opposites - the XJ would read full at the same resistance as the MJ would read empty. Incorrect. The MJ and XJ will read the same, but will not interchange due to differences in the tanks. The opposites that you are referring to is present in Renix vs. H.O. Rob L.
  8. Good to see you back around here. I was wondering if you were still playing with it. I really like what you did with those ZJ rims. I have a set in the attic I was going to do away with, but they look darn good with the inset's painted black. Next time we all get together you should hang out. We usually do a junkyard run to LKQ in Rockford every few months. PM me your phone number, and I'll shoot you a text if you don't check back here often. Also, What are you doing with the rims on your donor XJ? :brows: Rob L.

  10. You can drive one in the cheaply made "Jeep Thrills" game for the PS2 also. Rob L.
  11. I think its paranoia too. I personally, don't care if anyone see's it. In my case, once on the Metric Ton, but now on the Eliminator and looking a bit out of place... Rob L. :D

I started working on it this summer and I still have not buttoned it up completely. I am planning on having it ready for my wedding this summer to use as my getaway vehicle, its not far from being drivable again right now. I've got some good long term goals that I am starting to collect parts for. The truck will someday be setup with 4.56 gears and OX lockers in each axle. I will be installing JCR Offroad 1-ton OTK steering and revisiting my suspension setup to tweak it more to my liking at that time. The transmission is going to be swapped out with a '98 TJ External Slave version and a Center Force clutch will be installed then as well. I'd like to upgrade the headlights later down the road too, someday. Best MJ story This truck has NEVER left me stranded. I pulled it out from sitting beside a shop for 5 years the first time I drove it. Since then, I have driven it over 450 miles in a day many times, and it just keeps going. I have stored the MJ in the woods or worked on it all summer long in years past, each fall I could count on it to start up and go, anywhere and at anytime. What owner loves best about CC The Comanche Club is a great place. I enjoy watching other member's builds and the friendly banter we throw around all the time in the Pub. I've met many great people through the common interest we share in these darn trucks and we all seem to have one or a few other things in common. Its just a great place, there are so many things that this forum does that sets it above others. So, Here are some shots of the truck's progression: 5-13-06 The day I bought it. Some snow wheeling after 4x4 conversion and first lift Second lift and new wheels/tires Yes, the truck has been dirty, many times back when it wore its old paint... Things changed in 2007... As it sits today: Thanks Guys, All the best - Brent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brent, that's one gorgeous looking MJ. Not only have you made your truck what it is today, but you are one hell of a member. You have detailed plans on how to make your famous bumpers, walk throughs on how you did things on your truck, and we all know how quick you are to step in to help a member in need. You made the moderators decision easy on this one. Now bask in the glory! Congratulations Brent! Rob L.
  13. 469D1ofupGc Kick back a few more for me, I am on call for work, and have to sit this one out. From picking an AMC nut's place, to driving states away just for a black interior, here's to another good year with y'all. Thanks everyone for keeping Comanche Club a great place to be. Always a pleasure guys and gals. Rob L.

  20. Would you guys STOP BUYING 5.9L ZJ's!!!!!!!!! Your killing me over here! I just had myself convinced that once I fix my 4.0L ZJ I would be content with driving it. Your not making it easy to keep my mind from wandering! Gah! :fs2: Rob L.
  21. I didn't pay much for it myself, so maybe just trade for some MJ stuff if it comes down to it. Rob L.
