BACK WITH NEW SKIN october update
DodgeFan01 replied to ricksjeepster's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Man I love the silver on black combo, that thing looks sharp! I also am a fan of the eckos, those are the same wheels I run on mine and they look really good on yours! -
Wow, and for 100 bucks! Too bad I didn't live closer. That would make a sweet trailer!

My MJ Project-"Red-Headed Stepchild"
DodgeFan01 replied to MrFreeze5's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Welcome to the club neighbor! Where at in Denver are you? Seems like a pretty ambitious project, but it looks like a good solid base of a truck. Can't wait to see more. -
Sweet man, looks like you got a nice new ride there. I would love to get my hands on one of those someday. :clapping: Any plans on upgrades/mods?
-
Nice! That thing looks straight! You gonna put those Hellas back on?

I have been using the purolators since around 99, but I was told recently(by a mechanic buddy who cuts them open once in a while) that they changed their design and are now worse than frams, so I switched to oem from my local jeep dealer. They are the same price and seam a little better quality.

nice looking project! My mj had almost the same wheels on it almost all of it's life, till one got bent and they went bye bye. I like the chrome front end too! Good luck on your build! :waving:

Lol, no doubt, at least I'm not the only one. It sure would be a world of difference to have PS! It's good to know that you didn't notice a difference once installed. I too am thinking about the gearing, I have the 4 speed in there right now but I bought an AX-5(?) 5 speed a while back, just haven't installed it yet, but I guess I should wait to throw it in until I can get some 4:10s. I am running 235s with no problem, I can even get a squeel out of them if I want to! The other thing I have been thinking about is putting a turbo on it(I think I'll eventually post a question on this as well). I have a 84 Dodge Daytona that has a 2.2 with a turbo on it stock. I know some of the later years(88, 89) have a 2.5 option with turbo, so I'm wondering how different the 2.5 from the Daytona and our 2.5 is and if I could fit a turbo set up from the daytona on to the jeep. That would be Sweet! Although I know one big difference is the daytonas are ohc. -

2.5 questions...update 5/20/2010
DodgeFan01 replied to manimal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Another 2.5 lover here, I am interested in the same things! Mine is an 88 2wd with manual steering. I actually picked up a power steering gearbox a few years ago, but I haven't installed it because I am afraid of losing more power. I would love to upgrade to an electric fan, but I have no idea where to start or what to buy, as well as the cone filter, lost there too. Let us know what you decide to do! Adam -

Leaky clutch master cylinder!
DodgeFan01 replied to MCF90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Can you snap a quick pic from the insideof the cab and the outside of the firewall? I just did my cmc about 2 hours ago so I know what your up against. -
He is asking about the clutch master cylinder, not the brake master cylinder and booster. I'm glad you pointed that out because I was gonna add to what Tom posted. I didn't even catch that! Thanks Gambit, I just know that I've seen a few guys put one from newer jeeps on their manches and didn't know if there was a reason or if it's just because our cmcs are hard to come by. I think my jeep still has the internal slave, although it's been 7 or 8 years since I've been in there. My jeep came with(and still has) the four speed pos, however I picked up a 5 speed(I believe it's an Ax5) which will be going in soon so if it would be to my advantage to do an external swap on the slave, that is something I'll have to look into doing. Thanks. Adam

Hey guys, I have an 88 2wd 2.5 manche and I am looking to replace the clutch master cylinder. I have seen a lot of guys on here replace them with newer year models which require new mounting holes. Is there an advantage to replacing with a newer year one? I really don't feel like having to do much modification, I just want my truck running again, but I will go through the trouble if there is something to be gained. Thanks for your time. Adam :chillin:

My new 2x2 MJ project .... 2x2
DodgeFan01 replied to webbjeepxj's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
How about using the front axle(? whatever you want to call it) out of a 2 wheel drive manche? It's the same bolt pattern. -
:agree: That thing could be a sweet A$$ beast with some work! If it were near me and I had somewhere to put it I'd be all over it.

Nice pink bead locks! I like the magazine rack in the background, I'll have to put that on my wish list for my dream garage. I better go start collecting them! -
Nice score on the disc brakes, that is a very cool conversion to do if you want discs in the rear. I'm gonna have to keep a look out for an 8.25 and then do this conversion.

Dang, that is a nice looking Comanche! A moment of silence please.

DodgeFan01 replied to k.johnson135's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
That is a good looking truck. I love the chrome bumpers, grill gaurd and roll bar! Is the chrome on the roll bar peeling or has it been painted over? Maybe with bed liner type stuff? -
I'm assuming by regular ol' gear oil you mean 75w-90? This is a big help, I was wondering the exact same things.
