Comanche windshield question
DodgeFan01 replied to Mongo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am also planning on doing this the next time I get a new windshield. I think it is a little more involved though, I thought there was some tabs inside the groove there that need to be cut off. -
cheapest way for small lift?
DodgeFan01 replied to MJ86YJ90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
^LoL, I hate when you decide to do 1 thing and wind up fixing a bunch of other crap in the process! I too am looking at doing this to my 2wd manche. I think I am going to get the Chevy drop shackles from ebay but I am not sure about the pucks. I did a search a week or 2 ago and found some RE pucks for around $35 but I don't remember what site that was from. The pucks on ebay usually go for $39. I just want to get her a little higher in the air without having to get into brake lines and shocks and all that. -
Awesome, that was some funny reading righ there! :rotf:

Hey guys, I just bought some new mirrors that go in the little triangle corner of the doors and I guess I need to get some hardware to bolt them on. It has the 3 plastic stubs that go into the holes on the door, so do I just get some screws that screw into these stubs? I saw one post where it was recomended to get allen head screws so they are lower profile and won't get in the way of the inside triangle cover. I just want to make sure I bolt these on right and don't jack them up! Any recommendations? Adam

Nice looking truck! I like the chrome door handles, haven't seen too many with those! I like the color too, looks pretty clean

Looks pretty sweet, looks tough too. No place for a license plate though, I guess a bracket mounted to one side would work. 500 is a lot of clams though plus shipping. And then I got to paint it on top of that. Also, how do you get to the pin for the hitch? :hmm:

That looks like one of the members on here! Except his had flames on it, I can't tell if this one does or not. Nice manche though. -
That chrome front end is SWEET! Although the grill is on upside down.

^-^ Ouch, that is some interesting stuff there. Some of the ones I have watched end up with someone in the area giving the family the note to the house, which I think is great otherwise the family that couldn't afford things before now is stuck with a new mortgage bill. I watched that one last night, they are good at what they do making it look like they are helping to better situations. I have wondered how these homes hold up after the show since they were built in a week. Thanks for sharing that story. Adam

Thanks for the advise and info Pete! I just measured my sway bar and it is 25mm which is pretty freakin stout, so I think I'm going to stick with that for now. I just gotta find my bushing kit to get now. Adam -

Sweet! Thanks for the replies. I think my first step is going to be to try to figure out what size sway bar I have on my truck right now. I was checking out the poly bushing kits that teamcherokee sells, it looks nice and is priced fairly well compared to Oreilly, but it doesn't come with new links, just all the bushings. I guess as long as I can get it all apart without breaking anything then I wouldn't really need new links right? I am going to try to make a jy run on Thursday and see if I can find a bigger sway bar! I also ordered my door ajar switches from teamcherokee, I called the dealer and they said there was only one dealer in the state that had one switch, and it didn't have the rubber surrounds either, it was just the switch, but it is about an hour and a half drive each way, so I just decided to order these ones. Can't wait for them to land! I'm wondering if my pitman arm needs to be replaced to fix my play in my steering wheel, but I'm still trying to narrow that down. Adam -

DodgeFan01 replied to DodgeFan01's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok so I narrowed down my squeeking noise to my sway bar, the bushings are shot. Now I'm thinking of replacing the bushings as well as the links but I have seen on here some guys putting in a bigger sway bar out of a Grand Cherokee I belive? Is this a worthwhile mod or is it meant more for beefy trucks with big tires? Mine is a 2 wheel drive and the biggest tires it might see are 31. What do you guys think? Adam -

Cool, thanks for the info guys! I'll get my daughter out there tonight to turn it while I'm under there to see if I can figure out where the slack is. I think I am due for a jy run also, so hopefully I can snag a whole new column that has a newer nicer wiper stalk. Adam -
Hey guys and gals, I finally have some time this week to work on my manche and want to try to resolve a couple of issues: First off, she drives straight but there is a lot of play in the steering wheel, could this be the gearbox? steering column? tie rod ends? Secondly I think some bushings in the front are toast, every time I go up a curb or hit a dip I get some pretty nasty squeeking from the front end. Any ideas? sway bar bushings? Also, any recomendations for bushings? I have an Oreily right across the street and they sell Moog stuff, but I'm wondering if it is cheaper to buy from ebay or somewhere? I'm keeping this truck forever so I want to put a decent product in there. Thirdly, my wipers work well, but my squirter sometimes works, sometimes doesn't  plus I only have low and high speed. I'm thinking that the stick on the column may be worn out as it is a little loose and acts funny sometimes, can I take one from the junk yard that maybe has intermitten speeds? How much work is it if I put one in that has intermitten speeds/ or just replace the 2 speed one? :dunno: I also hope to replace the dome light door activator thing, how much work is that little guy going to be? :dunno: Thanks for the info, Adam

This definitely sounds like an awesome project and I'm interested to see you piece everything together! I didn't see anything about the axles though, are you planning 1 ton axles?

Hey man, that is a nice looking truck! I like the black steelies too! makes it look tougher  That is a nice looking shell too. Are you going to keep it around in case you need to throw it on? Also, I didn't see your rear facing fog lights, are they hidden or post picture? Adam
