From the great Zen poet Saisho, circa 1490: "Before I began studying Jeep, I saw mountains as mountains, rivers as rivers. When I learned some Jeep, mountains ceased to be mountains, rivers to be rivers. But now, when I have understood Jeep, I am in accord with myself and again see mountains as mountains, rivers as rivers."

Time for some Jeep quotes, I found some and stole some from other forums.....Keep em coming! :wrench: "Jeep is America's only real sports car" -Enzo Ferrari – BTW, the same year Carroll Shelby entered Le Mans. Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. -Enzo Ferrari "When I Die, Bury me in my JEEP. 'Cause it's never been in a hole it couldn't get out of!" "If its not leaking, it must be empty!" "Your ricers not so fast with a Jeep on it" Corvette. Zero to sixty? 3.4 seconds, Jeep. Zero to sixty? Yes.

Yeah, I'd like to pick up an old CJ or an old MB, there are tons of them here in TX being used as deer lease rigs. But every time I see them on sale they're always 2k or higher for a "barely running, rusted, crappy camo painted, neglected, left out in the elements for 8 months, CLASSIC JEEP, with rotten tires." People are freaking idiots about their old jeeps. Why does a spray can camo paint job increase the value? I just don't see it. Lately there was one locally on CL listed as a "1936 Willis Jeep", he wanted 4K for it and had a nasty little statement in his ad that went something like (watered down of course), "Don't lowball me, I know what this Jeep is worth!" So I immediately upon reading his ad, I proceeded to email him and tell him that he didn't know what kind of Jeep he had. Jeep wasn't around in 1936, it was actually a Kaiser wagon and had little to do with Jeep, further more its worth 200-300 at most, or scrap prices with no glass and no motor. He responded with, "If you can't afford it, then don't bother emailing me!" HAHAHAAHA  :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

cheap and easy lift
Comanche County replied to armygreenmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used rear sway bar links from a 1995 F350 a while back. They have the right bends in them similar to stock XJ/MJ links and are about 2" longer. Cheap and napa carries them. -
Why is it that the last 20% takes 80% of the time?

Nah, it wouldn't be as much fun or as rewarding if everything went together perfectly. Victory is sweeter after minutia rips your day apart. Trust me I know...took three hours just to make a double flare in a brake line today. Freaking tube kept splitting and the crappy flare tools I had were junk,'but finally got it done and no leaks. I then rewarded myself by thinking about Mila Kunis, and if she would go on a date with me in the MJ if I asked her on YouTube like that Marine did. -
Am I the only one that's fascinated by the rotary engine. I'd love to have one just to tear it down. :wrench:

Still considering, have to see how the gas money situation is looking. Hate to keep ya hanging.

What are all the Carling switches going to control? Can you show how you're going to route the wiring? Just wondering because I just picked up a headliner board finally and I'm going to fiberglass the whole thing similar to how you did it. I may place some sort of overhead console on it with a few switches also.

You guys are getting rain? We're praying for rain and need it bad! The northern half of the nation is flooded and under water and we haven't seen a drop in practically two months.

Yep, gonna order one soon. I've researched it and one can easily be cheaply made with parts from a bicycle shop. But I'd have to drive 100 miles to the closest good shop which would cost more in gas than just ordering one. I was thinking about the Teraflex kit. -
Gents, I just picked up some late model Firebird hood struts thinking I'd slap them on my MJ since the hood gets really hot to the touch this time of year. Not hard to do but does anyone have pics of how they've mounted theirs? Looking to borrow some ideas.

OK Gents, take a look at what I've done and let the arrows fly if necessary. I've had this open element air filter on for about two years. Lately the engine lost some power so I checked all the engine sensors and revisited my EGR tubing and made a few changes. I was about to order the Rusty's air tube that had the tubing Ts to attach the larger vent tubes but the shipping was more than the thing cost so instead I utilized some rural TX engineering. I blew (read wasted) money on a K+N FIPK on my ZJ 5.9 and wasn't going to spend that much on this one. Take a look at the pic. I believe I have everything going where it should relative to the old stock airbox locations. I've got three tubes going into the air intake flex tube. The two large tubes: one from the valve cover, the other is the long tube that snakes around the engine compartment from the charcoal canister, the smaller tube is the discharge that originates from the output of the EGR solenoid on the inner fender. BTW, when I checked all the sensors, they were all good. CTS and MAT sensor's resistance was right on. O2 sensor, same as far as I could tell. MAP sensor was 5.02 V and 1.89V. EGR vacuum was square on at 15 hg. Fuel pressure at the rail with vacuum attached was a perfect 31 psi. The CPS has to be good because it purrs like a kitten. I did replace the distributor cap and rotor, they were fried and done for. That could have been the problem, its running much better now but I need to drive it more to be certain. I still think there's a glitch somewhere. I'd be interested in seeing pics of how you guys have routed these tubes with an open element filter.

Mark your calendars gentlemen, I've done something purely cosmetic....I painted my grille parts. I finally got tired of looking at a chrome headlight bezel on one side and a grey one on the other.
