what exactly is this "overkill" you speak of, ive never heard this term used for jeeps and axles... :brows: D70 would be nice, but definately watch out for those wheel patterns and id go with Dirty's suggestion and shave it up a bit.

from my experience when the sending unit goes bad oil goes everywhere, or it just doesnt work, both happened on my moms 95 XJ. with the not working coming before the explosion of oil. i would imagine its that connection you mentioned? good luck -nick

Aint that weird!!! Of the four 89 XJ/MJ's I have owned all but one, (thats a AW4) have been AX15's!! I know of a couple more who are also AX15's . While my brother in law and couple friends w/88's ALL are BA10's. Books say 89 was the cross over year...guess it depends on part of the country tgey where sold in..... CW well aint that about a b*@$£, lol. just my luck huh?

500 MJ: i wouldnt fear rippin down a t-case to do a SYE its a pretty easy install, me and my brother did an AA kit on a 231 not 2 weeks ago, VERY simple, only ran into 2 problems, one was not having snapring plyers, and 2 was the pinion nut must be removed and it was torqued to 300+ ft lbs from 17 years of use, so if you have snapring plyers and a shop thatll blast off that pinion nut for you i wouldnt fear. however a hackntap kit ive heard bad things about, cause of the weakness of the stock shaft. good luck-nick

junkyard tools... hacksaw, large persuader, breaker bar, deepsockets metric and SAE, normal sockets, extensions, and a whole lot of TIME. it usually takes a few hours even for the smallest things cause you just HAVE to poke around. the cardboard mat sounds like a goodass idea JB
