  1. No links, pics (installed or otherwise), or web addresses for aftermarket? I believe this is what the OP was looking for,
  2. :agree: FWIW I don't believe these are available any more, but why would a person want to replace it anyway?
  3. Don't forget the flasher.

That thing looks brand new, what she pay for it? I don't have fancy welders, a 110 gas and a 220 shielded, Id love to have a stick welder for big stuff. Unless you got to spend money, In which case then I'd just get a bigger mig, then I'd run it the way it is.
  5. Without a complete donor sitting next to your MJ, I wouldn't do it. Although the Renix and HOs are similar, there are far too many pieces that would need to be hunted down to finish the project. With a complete donor, you have all the parts you need plus after taking a lot of pics along the way, a really good template to copy from. Let me back up, are you keeping the Renix engine controls? If so I apologize, Keeping the Renix stuff is doable, but not one I plan on undertaking. I'm swapping 100% to HO so keeping the Renix stuff is not what I'm knowledgeable about. Sorry.
  6. I'd try this but, won't WD-40 deteriorate rubber?
  7. First off welcome. It's hard to see what you are talking about with crappy pics, obviously taken from a phone, although you can get decent pics with better lighting and a little fore thought. If the truck has been sitting for years I would think old bad gas could be a major culprit. I would make sure there is fresh gas in it (gallon or 2, in case you have to drop the tank) then try again. Maybe try a little starting fluid to see if you can get it to fire. Lastly, you came on this board and asked for help, that's what were here for. But I beg of you not to do "something like scrapping the truck" because that is also why we are here, to keep these trucks alive. You never said where you are at, and more pics of the truck overall would be great. To post photos directly into your threads start here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11077 Please let us help you, get that MJ the help it deserves.
  8. Seems you have done a lot already, have you checked and cleaned the grounds? Batt to block, block to body and the one behind the left tail light? If your experiencing electrical or fuel problems such as this, the grounds should be the first thing you eliminate.
  9. If you mean the socket, front or back, they can be gotten from most any auto parts stores for cheap.
  10. First off, welcome. And second don't let someone BS you into paying too much.
  11. Any of the aftermarket discos will work. Depending on the money you want to spend and how much you wheel your truck, stock might work for a while...Problem is they will start to bend and eventually break like you have now. Best bet, buy some for a 4" lift and be done, or if you can weld, weld 2 sets together to make a longer set. Longer welded ones won't be discos, but as I said depends on how you wheel your truck. Gone over many times before: no links= :wall: or worse XXX Feelin lucky?
  12.   And oh yeah,
  13. Cheap insurance, if you run bigger tires, and run off-road a lot. Way cheaper easier than fixing busted cracked frame in the steering box mounting area. I aint doing it on the Chief cause I'm only running 31s, spend most time on the street, but the 87 is getting 33s and all the goodies. It will definitely get more beef there, whether from a brace or a beefy bumper that is tied in to steering box bolts :dunno:
  14. Seen a older Ranger/Currier? with a chain type spare tire winch...once.
  15. Nope, it's broke. Don't see how, no other esplanation.
  16. What's the cause of this fiasco? Pulling the cane while in gear?
  17. Like your truck, how about some more pics of it? Got any build info?
  18. My friend bought a used AX-15 from a guy across the state. Well he calls me up and says that it's stuck in reverse. I think that the shifter cane was pulled when the tranny was in reverse, and that he doesn't have it installed properly, any opinions? Does the tranny need to be manipulated out of reverse before the shifter will go in, and how?
  19. That was quick, guess you got the brackets. Looking good, nice truck. Further plans?
  20. I did the repair as above, although I did weld around the hinge to give it some extra. IMO it is the best fix out there. You can see some pretty good shots of my repair here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17699 near the bottom of the first page. And the factory repair in the DIY: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=28641 really just a band aid because it doesn't address the lack of strength when fastening to the A-pillar with no structural backing behind it, which is really the problem in the first place.
  21. I'm not trying to be a smart @$$ but did you replace the mechanical cable with the sender wire all the way to the transfer case?
  22. If you pay a lot for a fantastic truck, what are you going to think about it. Beautiful truck and its mine, I paid xxx dollars for it, ho hum..... Or, I built it, put a lot of time and effort into her, she's uniquely mine, I probably won't ever sell her. Not saying you have to build it all your self, but if you make it happen. Definitely a labor of love and one of the reasons we are here
  23. Actually -2* in relation to the plane of the engine tranny centerline. Allows for pinion climb. The angle is relative, if you measure your angle on a 4* hill, you will still have a measurement that is 2* less than that.
  24. I say restore. Comanches are unique, not many out there any more. To post photos: viewtopic.php?t=11077 Oh yeah, welcome to the club!
  25. Like the holy grail. Mucho hard to find, one of those parts gonna be worth $360 dollars someday. I have one coming in the mail, don't know if I'll ever put it on anything, but I will have one.
