jeep mj with 33s and stock gearing yes or no?
FrankTheDog replied to eyepod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
3.07's suck with 30's. My XJ has 31's and 4.10's and I love them. 33's I would want 4.10's at a minimum and would prefer 4.56's or 4.88's. I do some highway driving with the 4.10's and 31's and it's fine up to 80-85. Averaged 15.5 mpg at those speeds pulling a 1000 lb pop up camper and approx 300 lbs of gear plus wife and dogs. -
Hey where did that go....

Automotive glass shop would be a good place to start. Plenty of Fords from the 70's had the same style mirrors. -
Should I take this ax15?

It would be cheaper to buy a whole junk cherokee with a good transmission then just buy the parts for the conversion. -
92 in Cleveland Ohio $2500

$700 in wiring could easily be having somebody fix a fuse panel that was damaged by a leaky master cylinder. Labor is expensive. -

Anyone using this JCR transfer case skid plate?
FrankTheDog replied to yellaheep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That skidplate doesn't use the factory mounting holes. -

Also for auto parts go to the auto parts store, they'll have the correct stuff and steer you in the right direction. -

You can't use copper tube or tubing fittings. They are not DOT approved and are unsafe. You need to use steel or copper nickel iron tube. Also known as Cunifer tube. You also need to use regular brake nuts and have a double flaring tool kit or buy the premade lengths. It isn't that hard to do. One of the first tools I bought myself was a brake tubing flare kit at 16 years old to put all new lines in my $25 1970 Maverick. -
87 will have a internal slave cylinder. If you have fluid on your pedal your master cylinder is the problem and more than likely it is leaking onto your fuse panel and starting to melt it. So your going to want to pull the master cylinder and clean your fuse panel with electrical contact cleaner really well. You may want to pull the carpet and clean it and under it also because the fluid will corrode your floors quick too.

'87 Comanche door swapping

Put your location in your profile. There are plenty of us on here with a lot of the parts you will need. -
I get 18.5-20.5 mpg with my 1992 4.0 5spd 4x4. If your only driving it 2-3k a year why even worry about it.

Went and looked at a CJ5. $750 Ad said it needed a starter and battery so I brought them. Fired it up and drove it around. Offered $400. Was all I had. He said nope. Ok, so I pulled the battery and was crawling under it to pull the starter and he ran out and said ok. Drove it home 25 miles with no plates the day after a major snow storm. Who Looks at a Jeep with a plow during a storm clean up? Lol

As to timelines, definitly before Thunder Dome maybe before the Road Warrior. He had the Interceptor which was blown up in Road Warrior. Can't remember if it was destroyed in this one. It wasn't prominent in this story. Maybe a couple minutes.

Went and saw it . Thankfully the theater had the sound cranked to 11. It just plain assaulted you and it was great. Totally different story than the others, but as was said Max falls into somebody's business. It's worth it just to see the mechanical fabrications and what they do with them. Not a lot of CG. At least not with the machines and that's all I cared about. Joe's Cadillac is awesome. Go watch it.

But if a 3.07 geared D44 falls in your lap, that's what you run with. That being said my cherokee on 31's now and 32's previously is great on 4.10's I have 210k on the clutch. I wouldn't want any taller gears than that for any reason. Summertime averages 20 mpg. That's all around driving. Yes, the speedo has the right gear in it.

Watch cars pulling out of driveways and roads. Look at which way the wheels are pointing and look them in the eyes if you can. If you don't see their eyes they don't see you. Don't pull up close behind the vehicle in front of you. Stay to the side and have your escape route planned when you pull up and watch your mirrors. That way you won't get flattened. Beautiful bike. My favorite large motorcycle. One pointer that will save you from annoying people. You don't have to sit there and rev it while your at a light. Especially with the EFI. Now go put lots of miles on it.

Another tire size Question
FrankTheDog replied to Nate C's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Pick a style you like of 1997-2006 wrangler TJ 15x8 wheels and look for a set on craigslist. There are several different styles. Perfect backspacing and width for a 31" tire. Search for: Ravines, Gamblers, Canyons, Grizzly's and Moabs which are 16x8. -
The correct shaft for the disconnect side can be found in some 1995 YJ's. My ex son in law picked up a used set with new joints for $60. They are out there.

Talk to your wireless provider. We told att that verizon had coverage at our house where att almost did. You could recieve texts but not send them or make calls. ATT gave us the cell so we wouldnt jump ship. If you have coverage outside your house the femto cell will work fine.
