  2. I am converting from a 4.0 BA10/5 4x4 to an 2wd Ax15, so acording to the driveshaft table I need a ds of 53.125" in length which I expect one at 53" will work just fine. 8. That's what I was hoping some one would show me a pic of. You think lock tight would set that up better?
  9. There's good bed up here outside Denton TX, white 200.00 a few other parts
  10. I'd say it's worth, floor boards can be replaced, beds can be replaced. Given time and patients you can find just about anything you need for them. But it takes patients and a few bucks.
  11. Good looking truck, looks like someone took good care of it. I'm sure you have the 410 gears and it would be the steal of the year if you had a D44. Power windows and locks? When and if I ever paint mine the visor in storage will go on. AND ALL THE CHROME! too. If I could just find the ultra elusive chrome rear bumper and a set of Crager SS's. we'd be done. I got an Infinti M30 with the Nisson ZX 300... we can go chase each other on the highway.
  12. Did mine this last weekend and replaced all the O donuts and the o'ring and clips on the ends, Schrader was solid. But thanks for the tip. It would be a crying shame to see you in a chrome roman candle.
  13. I think it's just a push on snap ring. This is a clutch kit from O'Reilly's 159.00 all inclusive. Brand says Brute Power.
  14. Good info, I have some issues going on right now myself. Seems the slave won't stay attached to the trans. Have you always had the AX 15? I have a the BA 10 but I believe when it comes to the clutch they are the same. We have swap all the parts out too. but not all at once. The part that helped the most in getting firmness was the master. I did not recall that the shaft at the pedal was adjustable. I'll be checking mine real soon.
  15. JB Weld was one of my thoughts it's better than duck tape, LOL . But was looking for more ideas. I have not done this work as I have a mechanic that is doing it. I am extremely busy at work and overtime is aplenty with this project, but I need my truck. It was cheaper to hire this guy as he did have some good experience but I just wonder if he did something wrong or just flat screwed up. But it looks like I'm going to have to do this myself. So to keep from loosing more time at the problem, I want to know my best plan when I get into it myself. any others ideas?

Try bus shipment via gray hound or ? terminal to terminal they are pretty good on long items. You may want to saran wrap to something ridged... fence picket/ saw off the end? Ceder it's lighter.

  18. I seem to have a problem with the throw out bearing staying attached to the pin on the BA 10. Also noticed that I think it is the same as the ax15? Just a hollow appearing half inch small pin on a round raised area on the front face of the trans. Buying O'reily parts and this is a new clutch kit. The slave has a strap that attaches to it. The strap keeps coming off the pin some how. Is there a remedy or a southern ingenuity fix for this? I consider putting a small screw into the top of the pin but if you break that pin off or split it out your going to be in a hell of a mess. Quick answers are appreciated as I am paying for the lift by the hour. (19.95) We pulled it off the lift and rolled it out of the bay but we need to get back to it tomorrow. 19. I know there used to be a table that listed all setsups and lengths of rear driveshafts. Where is it now? I parked Sugarfoot about a year ago after Hurricane Irene. I have since quit working flood claims in the field and now review for the NFIP out of my home. So inbetween reviewing and paying a million Hurricane Sandy flood files from home I have some time to pay some attention to her again. So it's back to that old PITA BA 10 that needs to leave and add in the AX-15 2x4. I got two Comanches being parted out down here in TX. Ones a 92 and the other is an 89 so I figure pickings are good at the moment. Just need to get what setups have the shaft I can use. So FYI I'm an 88 sb with 4.0 with AX15 2x4 and Dana 35. Simply removing my 231 and front drive shaft to storage and hitting the highway. James and Sugarfoot Denton TX. Home of FEMA Region VI 88 RED Pioneer, power everything 4.0- 268K that leaves her mark everywhere. 2x4 AX15 D35 and 30 and a ton of CHROME! Why you can almost see our glint in Texas from the space station. The other one is Don's in Alabama. He's got more chrome than a 59 Cadillac. Chrome is COOL and rare. So is AMC.
  20. Follow the two wires from the gas tank to your firewall. On my 88 they are orange and black, but wrapped. Flip it over and look along the top side which may be shorting to the chasis. This is a low voltage current so you will not get an easy clue seeing some spark in the dark. The bumps may be changing the voltage via the short to the chassi and the ton of gas may be you pummping the gas like mad. Does it ever not want to start? Hang in there.
  21. I thought that too Pete and I thought the seat mounts were different too due to the floor upslope closer to the console area?
  22. Chevy Robin Egg Blue 1955-1960, you never miss one, they always catch your eye. It doesn't show off chrome as much as I like but the flat black looks good with it.
  23. I think I would Navel Jelly it and then re-access, then decide on how long you want to keep it. Maybe lay in some soft aluminum or tin underneath and poor a good coat of bondo cut with thinner down on top. Clean it up underneath apply heavy undercoating or maybe liquid rubber or bedliner even.
  24. I think I got mine from the Jeep dealer inside and out. I don't recall either being way out of line 20-23 bucks.
  25. Is it possible to pull the trans back far enough on an 88 4.0 BA 10 trans with 4x4 to replace the trowout bearing or do I have to drop it compeletly? If so what is the shortest route to do this?
